Strawberry Fields

Funny what inspires a journal page. I had some left over leaves I had cut for my mom’s Mother’s Day card. How I got strawberries from that I’m not certain, but they look delicious regardless. =)

Princess Charming

I love her! This was SO much fun to create. She’s just about finished, I only need to add a few more embellishments and then add the beeswax. This was actually just a silly sketch I did with colored pencil and I loved her to much to redo her so I just winged it. Next picture I will use my watercolors. Lots of paper squares, confetti’s, frogs, and pink! I also used some patterned foil origami paper around the edges for shimmer. I especially like her pink shoelaces. (I want some!) I’m so excited… I get to go art supply shopping this weekend. I haven’t done that in ages. My few purchases lately have been online, and the shipping keeps me in check there. Michael’s won’t be safe on Saturday! Yay!!

Here’s the Mother’s Day card I created for my mom. It’s layers of gesso’d and painted paper with water color pencil dabbed on in many layers. The poppies are watercolor crayon with punched out paper centers. The trees are cut out paper with sponged edges in a darker green & more paper centers with a dab of watercolor pencil. This was truly a labor of love. The butterfly is painted on separate paper and cut out and adhered on with Gel Medium. The tree trunks are “clumps” of phone book pieces to add depth. It was a fun card to make. I can’t wait to hear her reaction. Inside it says – “May your garden overflow with Love.”

Love you Mom!
