Bluem

Ξ May 20th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

Playing with blue paint today. I have dipped my fingers in some really old thick blue paint and came up with some fun splotches and texture. I watercolor washed the background, smeared on some glitter fabric paint, melted blue crayon and embellished the edges with glass beads, ribbon, and punch cut paint chips. It’s like the perfect storm. Gotta run, it’s Nordic Track time.

Please feel free to leave comments on my blog. I’d like to get to know my viewers. =)

Melted Crayons

Ξ May 20th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

I melted Crayola Pearl Brite crayons onto the pages and added photo corners to the edges. The droplets on the top page remind me of Chinese lanterns and the flowers below bloom in their waxy garden. There is so much creative possibility here that I will be digging out more of my crayons. I got the idea for this entry at Inspire me Thursday

head on over there and check out the amazing crayon artist’s they have listed. They truly are “inspiring.”

Blessings Bucket

When it rains… it pours! Let the Blessings begin.

The weekend weather was very hot for mid may in the Pacific Northwest and I am a heat wimp. The intense orange and yellow of this entry depicts the weather. Todays weather would be a nice cool blue! TYVM! =)Short and sweet post today. I have lots to get done while the weather’s cool. =)
Hi to Mom and Lori if you were able to get wireless access on your trip. Talk to you soon. =)

A New Creation

Ξ May 16th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, The Healing Garden |

This journal entry is a memorial to my cousin Heather. She was a beautiful spirit who was only with us for 19 years on this earth. She was a very independent and bubbly vivacious person with a heart of gold. She has been in Heaven for 9 years now and she is deeply missed. She was someone very special to me and I wanted to bring her back in my journal today.

The flower stem blooming into a butterfly – a new creation – The “flower/butterfly” is torn from the paper as a symbol of how she was torn from our lives. The trinity of butterflies, each sparkling butterfly symbolizes her spirit’s acceptance of her entry to heaven and the nearly invisible vellum butterflies barely attached symbolize her body. God Bless you Fef. (a nickname) You are loved.

Stretch Your Limits

Ξ May 16th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

I usually have my journal gesso’d and glued with torn pages a few days ahead so I can just create when I have the time, and today when I looked at how the pages were glued on I saw a giraffe. He’s abstract, and more than a bit goofy, but he’s still there. It was a fun idea for a very warm May day. Stretch your limits and live life to it’s fullest. Whatcha think?!

Journey Now

Ξ May 15th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

I apologize for being a day late on getting yesterday’s journal entry posted. My parents came to visit and by the time they left if was time to start dinner. After dinner it was so nice outside we decided to play in the water by washing the car. =) Excuses, excuses huh! Haha.

Time is our most precious commodity… use it or lose it.

This is a wall hanging I have been working on for my corner of the world. I’ll be hanging it over my desk to mark my territory. Like anyone dares go near the mess! =)

And close ups of the details.

I’ll likely hang it with wire to bring out this detailing. This was made from the cutting board I got a few weeks back that made me think of using it as a template…

Remember this? =)

I’m off to play some more. Enjoy today. I’ll get today’s entry up later this afternoon as I like to try to keep on schedule.

Jill And The Beanstalk

Ξ May 13th, 2008 | → 26 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

Done female fashion, with reversed leaf and flower color. What’s Jill going to find at the top of the beanstalk? That will likely be revealed in a future painting.Yesterday I worked on my first Button Fairy. I am very pleased with the results. What a fun process it was. I have lots of vintage tins full of buttons that were given to me by my mom so I had a huge array to choose from. I had started these butterfly wings several years ago and wasn’t happy with how they were turning out so I re-purposed them for the fairy. I named her Cassidy. That’s the name of the “she-ro” in the book I am currently ripping pages from. I’ll likely be making more of these adorable button fairies.

Just too cute. =)

Use Your Delete Key

Again quite different from my usual stuff but I was inspired yesterday by Joel Osteen’s inspirational message on TBN. He focused on keeping stinkin thinkin out of our heads. This was a blast to make. Lots of cut and pasting, rather like elementary school. =) Joel has free podcasts on his site so check him out.

Time for Tea!

My fun and funky teapot I got for Mother’s Day. Along with a stash of cash for my visit to JoAnns.
I also got a stash of tea! I’m about to make a cup now and enjoy! I just LOVE this teapot. It screams ME!

Paisley Power and Prayer

Ξ May 12th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

The power of Paisley! (and a mini hole paper punch!) This was fun. I’m doing a project for my sis soon and it’s going to have a paisley theme so this page was inspiration to get my paisley practice. The torn paper on the sides is actually a torn baby wipe. They tear awesomely. After it dried I colored it with water color crayon and re-wet it to spread the color. I topped the wipes with gorgeous yarn ties. Fun, fun. =)

For Sunday’s entry I did a prayer theme using my new ribbon. A very simple page with just flowers and the sun.

Shopping!

Ξ May 11th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic |

I did my shopping! =) I got $93 dollars worth of lovely, lovely embellishments and bling to add to my art, as well as some much needed others such as a few candles. Seriously, who can do art without a lovely scented candle?! I got a neat little tin for only $1 to hold some of the precious art bling, and some awesome glue and twinkles paint. I am still in need of some canvases and paints, but the brads, sparkles and ribbons were calling to me yesterday. Here is a look at what I got.

Rub ons!

More rub ons!!

Inspiration words, tape and ribbon (only $1 per roll tyvm!)

Embellishments galore!

Bling, and scented candles!

Lovely, lovely! Paper ribbon, paper petals, glue, painty twinkles, poetry on vellum, metal tape, and an awesome tin for only $1! I had the best time. I can’t wait to do this again at JoAnn’s =P. I am currently working on a paisley journal entry to inspire me for a project I am going to make for my sister. (Who by the way is an awesome singer and poet.) I’ll have my journal entry up later today, it’s nearly finished. All I’ll say now is it was a lot of gluing! Happy Mother’s Day to everyone and God Bless you all. Much Love and art to everyone.
