The Girls In The Hoody

Ξ June 13th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

Inspired by doing laundry. I have a bright orange hoody and thought how cute it might be to journal it. The background is a torn novel page and watercolor was of watercolor crayon with alcohol drops to add the pop of missing color. The vellum on the left is hand stamped with alphabet stamps and the edges are sponged with the same ink to add definition. I have been working on a Father’s Day present for my dad and will have it done later today. I’ll post a pic as soon as it’s done. I also have a few cards to finish up and a party to go to tomorrow so my day is going to be very busy! I best get to it. Happy Friday!!

Turtle Beach

Ξ June 11th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

The turtles body was made from a green tag. The legs and head are cut from scraps of when I clean my mini iron after melting and spreading crayons. I had them all laying on my desk and when I looked down, they made me think of a turtle. He’s kinda cute and boxy. The mini iron I use is below.

I bought my mini iron on line at soft expressions. I opted not to buy the wooden holder and the cooling tote that are offered with it and am happy with the little four-leaf-clover holder that came with it. It’s good for quilting, ironing ribbon, beeswax, or melting crayons which is something I have been doing a lot of lately. It has 3 settings and a toggle switch on the cord. If your looking for one, I recommend this one. I’m very happy with mine. To clean it I simply use scrap drawing paper to press off the wax that’s on the bottom and then take a napkin to the rest to remove any wax that’s left. Well, I have a blank page calling my name, followed by some time on the Nordic track so I’ll post my page when it’s done. Have a great Wednesday!

My Heart Soars

Ξ June 10th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

I got to play with my Twinkling H2Os. The hearts are painted with Garnet and cut from card stock with vellum wings that were sponged with blue rubber stamping ink. The paints really shimmer and the camera doesn’t pick up the punch they give to page. This was messy art, but it was sure fun.

Go Fly A Kite

Ξ June 7th, 2008 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

Making this page was so much fun. I used leftover melted wax scraps for the little mounds of grass at the bottom of the page and the cattails. I got my Twinkling H2Os in the mail yesterday so the kite is painted in the sparkling yellow. Her eyes, the center of the flower and the polka dots on her dress all have sparkles. Now I’m off to finish today’s entry. Happy Weekend!

Twinkle

Left over birthday stars found their way into my journal with fibers and melted crayons. I’m having too much fun making melted crayon messes. I just got a box of 96 Crayola crayons at Fred Meyers for half price. I have feeling they won’t last too long. =)

Happy Birthday Hubby

Ξ June 5th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House |

Decorations and cake have been set into place!
A bath, some perfume, a trace of some lace.
Time for some tea before the big race,
I can’t wait to see the look on your face!

Happy Birthday Babe!

Today’s energy got focused on creating a smile on my hubby’s face, so my journal entry will be portrayed tomorrow on that topic. I have everything ready for homemade nachos for dinner and am about to take a breather before he gets home, then finish the last of the decorations on his cake. mmm, chocolate! Have a happy June 4 everyone!

Save Your Fork!

The last entry of my first art journal. It pretty much sums it up. =)

Back inside cover.

All done! Just as pretty from the side as it is from each page. And last but not least, the journal cover I made with melted wax for journal number 2.

The photo doesn’t do it justice. The textures and colors are gorgeous!

Love and Stuff…

Paint chips, purple, paper, punches and pizazz. Today’s entry combines two of my favorite colors. Lime green and purple. In my haste I put the eyelets on backwards but it’s art so anything goes I guess. I have one more blank page left in the journal! Tune in tomorrow to see what becomes of this page!

Techolution

Ξ June 2nd, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

Just a bit of old technology that we’ve passed by.

This was fun. I heated the paper with my heat gun and then colored over it with crayons. You can see at the bottom of the page where the wax got so thick it was dripping. I’m going to try this on a larger surface. I can see where this technique could be addicting. It was very fun to watch the wax just melt off the crayon onto the paper.

I made this fun card over the weekend. Right now I’m working on more cards for the upcoming events in my family. I’ll post today’s journal page later this afternoon after I have some of my other “need to finish now” projects done. =) Enjoy your Monday!
