I’m finally done with my Indian Summer painting and I love how it turned out. I started this with the 2 stenciled dragonflies and the Indian Summer years ago and then it got shoved aside for other projects. I pulled out the sketch pad it was in and started messing with it to see what I could salvage from it and this is what I came up with.

Using several different Native American motifs and patterns I combined & altered them using creative license. The entire picture except for the blue background is finished with glitter glaze so it’s got a lot of punch. Very festive for those hot summer days. I had a really fun time bringing out something I stared years ago and finishing it with sheer imagination. The final project size is 10″ x 8″. It will make very pretty prints. How do you like it?

The zucchini is blooming and beautiful. I’m still here. I’ve been diligently working on getting my Etsy set up, keeping things going at home and working on my latest painting which is coming along nicely. Here’s a sneak peak at a corner. (The lighting is bad – sorry for that.)

That’s all I’m showing for now, I have 2 more things to do to the painting and I’ll be able to scan it and get it posted. I’ll have it done sometime this weekend. The days are just TOO SHORT! Good news is hubby got promoted! He’s been very happy this week and that makes me happy! I’ll be back with a finished painting ASAP. Have a joy-filled weekend and enjoy the sun, or lack there of if that’s the case. =) God Bless.

I took time out from my painting tonight to snap this photo of my water jar. I thought it looked pretty cool with the paint streaming down the inside. The picture I’m working on is called Indian Summer and it’s got some very vivid colors in it. (and lots of detailing in the boarder.) I’ll have it done within a few days for you to see. In the meantime – stay cool.

Made per request of my sister. It took me forever to get this started, but I manage to get it done in one sitting. And now I’m cleaning my art area. I was spreading onto the floor of the dining room we use at our computer/art area and it was beginning to look a bit messy, and since our place is small, organization is key! Along with cleaning I am finding lots of art supplies I don’t get to use often as they are boxed in clear carton in a storage shelf next to me. I usually use what I have close at hand and save my rummaging for when I have artist block. I also harvested all of the beet greens today and not one single beet in the bunch. All the plants just bolted and flourished with greens, but the beets, well, not so much. =( The pretty daisies I bought to refill the barrel make up for it though. My zucchini has it’s first blossoms showing today as well, so it was a good day for the “garden.” (2 planters on the deck.) Hehe. I’ve started working a bit on my Etsy shop and will be taking my pictures later today when the direct sunlight is off the deck. I’ll then have a lot of typing to do and uploading. I need to purchase my shipping envelopes as well. So much to do and the days just race by. Well, I best get back at it and make as much of the time remaining in the day. Peace to you all and God Bless!
After having a nice long 4th of July weekend I’m back to blogging. First thing I want to say is Happy Anniversary to my hubby, we have been married ONE glorious year as of today. We are going to dinner tonight to celebrate. MMmm, going for seafood! I have taken pictures of my shopping adventure and my latest art journal entries, but first I wanted to show you the picture I finished last night. She is my first mermaid. I did this picture with colored pencils, a touch of ink here and there, and some glaze on her after to highlight her hair, eyes, and jewelry. I am calling this one Cassioseia. After the Constellation of Cassiopeia as I think think she turned out a star!

My latest blog entries are below followed by my shopping finds I purchased on my day away from the noisy roofers.

My new flowers are what inspired the daisies.

And now for my shopping treasures. =)

The tissue paper has newspaper ad section pages which I thought was awesome, They will be fun to incorporate in lots of projects.

Goodies from both The Dollar Tree and Target. The watercolor paints were only $1 so I guess I don’t need to tell you where I got those! =)

Napkins are so much fun to create with and have endless possibilities, keep your eye on the gift wrapping aisle of the stores, they have a lot to offer. (and in large quantity for bigger projects.) I had a great time on my shopping trip and came home and made some fun art. The roof looks awesome, the house is quiet once again and tonight I get treated to dinner, what could be better? Have a great Monday and God Bless!

Spruce up my dress and beeswax me and I’m done as done can be! This money tree painting was inspired by all the artists in my Christian Mixed Media Group on Flickr. We always need a bit more cash to buy those deeply desired tools. So here you go girls! I planted a money tree and guess what! It’s HARVEST TIME! Bring a basket and come pick a very large bouquet! Now, let’s go shopping! I did some shopping today at The Dollar Tree and Target and I’ll take the pics after the roofers have left and I can access my porch again. (They always look better when taken outside.) I had a BLAST and got some really nifty finds. I can’t wait to show you. You’ll see em soon!
The weather has been horribly hot the past few days and we have spent our time hovering over the open freezer and in cold bathtubs and showers. It was 97 over the weekend and despite an hour in a cold tub I couldn’t shake the icky sicky feeling of heat exhaustion. This morning is nice and cool the doors are open and the air feels crisp. Understandably in such heat it was difficult at best to get much art done. I did my best to get a few projects completed and a couple messy journal pages done. Today I am working on the finishing touches of those projects that have piled up and will have 2 done by tomorrow. We are getting a new roof put on the duplex tomorrow so I likely won’t be home. I’ve been advised to leave for the day due to the dozen men tromping on the roof and the echo of a dozen nail guns going off in unison. I’ll find a nice air conditioned art store or book store to hang in for a bit. =) Here are the journal pages I managed to smudge out in the heat this weekend.

Jump for joy. Painted in watercolor directly onto the novel page that has been gesso’d and washed in watercolor.
Time On My Hands. This was a late creation for the Make it Mondays’ challenge on the go make something website.I manage a few more post-it covers as well. I am now out of post-its and need to buy the envies for mailing and start my Etsy project. I have a lot of ideas on how to expand this idea to include my own art – but I’ll see how it goes with this project first. These are the post-it’s I did before the heat was just too overwhelming to work in.

That’s it for today. I’m off to finish some goodies now. Enjoy the rest of your day and God Bless!
