Breathe

I’ve completed my Inspire me Thursday piece. It’s fun, functional, and simple as pie. I made this little bookmark with bubbles coming up from the fish. She’s taking a much needed deep breath. This was very quick to make and much needed to mark the pages of the book I’m reading at the moment, which is – Maeve Binchy’s Echoes. It’s a wonderful story as all of hers are. I’m never disappointed in a Binchy Book. =) So here’s to marking my pages without dog  earring the corners. (Hmm… that gives me a great idea!) Happy Thursday & God Bless.

Ladybug, Ladybug Where Have You Gone?

Ξ September 10th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

Created for Illustration Friday’s challenge this week. Clutter! I could have taken a picture of my art desk but I figured that would be cheating. This bug was made using watercolor, acrylics, layered collage paper, melted wax, rhinestones, glitter glue, and messy fingers. As a ladybug fan I had fun with this and look forward to next week’s IF’s  challenge. I’m working on Inspire me Thursday’s challenge right now and hope to have it up by tomorrow AM. Have a great Hump day and don’t let the clutter bug you!

Bon Bon Babe

Ξ September 9th, 2008 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, Fun with Food |

Made for Make it Mondays. No diets were harmed in the making of this artwork. This was an interesting challenge as I do have some decedent chocolates in the cupboard and wasn’t going to cheat on my diet to get at the lovely wrappers. Instead I went through piles of old goodies and found the wrappers from THESE wonderful treats. Oh the memories! =)
I also had the wrapper from a natural dark chocolate bar and glued it along with some flower power paper in dark cocoa down for a base. I added the anime’ bon bon babe to top off the piece and add cuteness. She was so fun to draw and paint. Tada! Here’s the finished dessert!

Autumn’s On The Way

Ξ September 9th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

With some of the maple trees turning orange already I was inspired to make a few fall pieces to help usher in the season. One is a journal page with the autumn sun and some leaves with glitter threads and rhinestones. The other is in celebration of the upcoming of Halloween. One of my favorite holidays simply because it’s all about fun and has zero stress involved. I’ll have more up tomorrow. I just wanted to get these up and say “Hi” to everyone!

Celebrate the change in seasons!

Journal Mania

Ξ September 5th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, The Healing Garden |

I finished the angel journal and started one called “Palm of His Hand.” I have to wait for some products to arrive before I can finish the Palm journal but I have 2 more planned so I can move onto those while I wait. You’ll notice on the Angel journal that I have a series of 3 dots and 3 rhinestones. Those symbolize the Holy Trinity. There is a lot of glitter glaze on this journal that the camera can’t pick up. I think this turned out special. The Palm journal is far simpler and maybe a bit more on the masculine side. I have a postage stamp journal and a butterfly journal planned to work on next. I’ve also been playing with ATCs and have one ready to start painting with a Halloween theme. It’s TGIF today and the weather is sunny and not overly warm out. The perfect weather for outdoor BBQ, a walk in the park, a few drinks on a restaurant terrace or a drive with the windows down. It’s been a quiet week here this week and I’ve really enjoyed it. Next TGIF I have a shopping date with my sister. The item at the top of my list is a new bra – OMG this is going to be hilarious. I hate, hate, hate, bra shopping, it is however comic relief. Hmm, wonder how I can convey this via art. I’ll have to give it some thought! Here’s a peek at my journals I’ve been working on. Enjoy ~ and Happy TIGF! God Bless!

And … the work in progress ~

A few ATCs

Ξ September 5th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

I made this ATC for my sister and she got it via mail today so now I can post it. =) It’s called Best Feathered Friends!

This was fun, it’s a montage of rubberstamping, illustration done in watercolor, glitter glaze, music confetti, and embossing powder. Other embellishements include gold embroidery thread, heart brad and blue eyelet.
The ATC below was made for Illustration Friday. The prompt word for the week is “memories.” My angel journal is coming along nicely and I have another one nearing done as well. I’ll post pics of them tomorrow.

Work in Progress

Ξ September 4th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, The Healing Garden |

I’m working on some journals at the moment and this is the one that I have closest to complete. I still have several things I need to do before I adhere the angel and the phrase but I wanted to post today and let you know what I’m up to. I have 3 others I am working on as well with piles of paper and scraps of ideas here and there. It’s quite the mess actually. I’ll spare you the heaps of papers I’ve been digging through. This is simply a preview of what’s coming off my desk this week as I wanted to drop in and say “hi” to everyone. God Bless, and I’ll have more up tomorrow. =) Let me know what you think.

Fall Is In The Air

Ξ September 3rd, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

We’re going to be seeing more and more oranges and reds as the summer season comes to a close and to honor the change of mother nature’s change in pallete Make it Mondays has given us the prompt word of “Orange” for this weeks challenge. Here’s my take on it.
It’s that time of year to dig out the fall decorations and celebrate the change in season and the upcoming holidays of Halloween and Thanksgiving. I’ll be pulling mine out this week for a change of indoor scenery.
Happy September!
