Happy Saturday

Ξ November 29th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic |

I hope everyone’s been able to recuperate from the stresses of cooking and traveling, entertaining and cleaning that comes with Thanksgiving. My hubby has been sick for the past week and I’m feeling the drain, today however we are going out to get a bit of fresh and and a tiny bit of shopping. I don’t have a current project to share today so I dug through some of my old files I have of some Photoshop art I did a few years back. (Boy how postage has skyrocketed since then!)

I did some reading and some surfing and have found a few cute ideas to try to re-create Tammy style, so I’ll have wonders to share with you this coming week! I will also be decorating for Christmas and taking down my fall decor ~~ Finally, I’ve grown tired of it. The twinkle of Christmas lights is going to be a welcoming sight! I’ll share when I have it up. Until later, happy creating!

Here’s a video that was shared the other day that I was blessed enough to catch. It’s the most joyful topic and really pulls at my heartstrings each time I watch it. Enjoy!  ART!  I’ll have something new posted tomorrow. I had a wonderful day with my parents and spend the afternoon nursing my sick hubby. More tomorrow! =)

Trivets!

Ξ November 22nd, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic |

These are the trivets I was talking about in yesterday’s post. They were made from trivets I bought at The Dollar Tree that were pre-decorated. I gesso’d them and started layering acrylic paints on with a brush and paper towels, a piece of window screen and bubble-wrap. I used charcoal pencil for the black and a blender stump to blur it up. The flower and butterfly are made using a stencil and modeling paste. Let the paste dry over night, sand and paint as desired. I used my finger and Distress Ink from Tim Holtz in Fired Brick as my first layer on the modeling paste. I added metallic gold and wiped off the excess with a paper towel. I topped these off with matte vanish to seal the colors in. These were so easy and so much fun that I’m going to buy some more trivets next time I’m at The Dollar Tree and make some in different colors. These two are for my sister-in-laws for Christmas. What’s great about them is they have the hanger already on them so if take into account that you have the materials on hand, the gift only cost you a dollar and some TLC.

Happy Friday

No pictures to share today as daylight escaped before I had a chance to catch my latest creations on film. I finished 2 pieces that I was doing on ceramic tiles. I was using the technique taught in Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts, and they turned out wonderfully. I’ll take snapshots tomorrow and post them for all to see. I also did a bit of painting on a piece I wood-burned yesterday and it’s turning out rather nicely. It’s a colorful angel and flower. I spent the majority of the day doing housework, washing, vacuuming, changing the sheets on our king sized bed, and cleaning the kitchen. Lots of work got done and a tiny bit of art was thrown in for stress release. Backgrounds are still a challenge to me but who’s not up for a good challenge now and then! It’s growing pains I tell ya! I have a new book on my wishlist ~ I learned my moneys worth from the Taking Flight so I think this one would be a good investment as well. What supplies and books are on your wishlist for Christmas? Stay tuned ~ My birthday is Monday and I’m planning a give-away for my blog readers. =) In the meantime ~ stay creative, get your fingers dirty in paint, glue, mediums and sticky tapes and enjoy the healing process! Your artsy friend and blogger ~ Tammy

Flower Power

Ξ November 20th, 2008 | → 3 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, Les Petite Dolls |

For my youngest neice for Christmas. She’s into lime green and purple so I gave her twinkling H2O hair! It shimmers! The photo doesn’t show the shimmers or sparkes throughout the painting. But her shoes are very, very sparkly! I used rhinestones, ribbons and a flower, that I also painted sparkly. The flowers are rubberstamped on and the centers are green paper cut with a mini flower punch, topped with a dot of paint that’s dabbed with sparkling glaze. The leaves are tissue paper that I mod podged on. The dress is collaged and has a rhinestone topping it off. The piece was especially tough to woodburn as the wood was very ridgy. I added a rhinestone to her right eye to cover some heavy woodburning, it doesn’t show here, but the rhinestone does cover the boo-boo. For hanging, again I used eyescrews and ribbons and fibers in purples. I found an idea using polymer clay in Taking Flight and plan to make a few hanging tile trivets for my brothers and their wives for Christmas. It looks like a very fun process. If you have the book Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts check out pages 40 – 43. What have you been creating for Christmas this year? I’d love to hear about your projects and ideas! I’m off to do some woodburning now, then to play with clay! Happy Thursday and Happy Creative Blogging!

Twinkling of an Eye

Ξ November 19th, 2008 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, For The Kingdom, Les Petite Dolls, The Healing Garden |

Mixed media made with purples, golds, ivory and a touch of blue. A gift for my Mother for Christmas. I’m pleased with the finished product. All that’s left is the hangers and to sign it. I started working on another small, door-sized hanger for yet another neice. She’s being done in purples, lime green, and flowers ~ she’s turning out quite different and pretty. I hope to have her completed tomorrow ~ and I’ll share her then.

Jazz Princess

Ξ November 18th, 2008 | → 4 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, For The Kingdom, Les Petite Dolls |

I finished the Jazz Princess painting this morning by simply adding ribbons and fibers through eye screws. It turned out exactly like I wanted. Bright, PINK!, and musical. I think my niece will love it.

I started a new painting for my Mom for Christmas which I will call – “In The Twinkling Of An Eye.”  It’s based on 1 Corinthians 15:52. A topic we have been discussing lately. My sister gave me an excess of sheet music so the girls dress is made from that. This piece will be done with purples and golds. It’s going to be a fun one to see come to life. I also sketched a small piece late last night that I’ll wood-burn today and play with in between drying stages on the one for Mom.

I started reading The Artist’s Way last night and will wait till the 3-Week-Challenge starts to start doing my morning pages. I also read part of Taking Flight and am up to the first project – now I need to go in search of some old books to alter! Yay! Until then I’ll be busy painting, painting, painting!

Oh Deer!

Ξ November 15th, 2008 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Around The House, The Great Outdoors! |

I captured these two adorable deer with my camera as they were passing through. They have been frequent visitors all summer and I finally managed to get them on camera! Momma was very trusting as I got close enough to take a few pictures. From the pictures I’ve posted of all the wildlife that visits one might think we live out in the woods ~ not so! ~ we actually live in the heart of town on a private dead end street ~ only 2 mintues and 2 stoplights away from whatever you would want to buy. The best of the best for certain. =) The only thing lacking is one room. A studio of course. /wink!
