Flower Power

For my youngest neice for Christmas. She’s into lime green and purple so I gave her twinkling H2O hair! It shimmers! The photo doesn’t show the shimmers or sparkes throughout the painting. But her shoes are very, very sparkly! I used rhinestones, ribbons and a flower, that I also painted sparkly. The flowers are rubberstamped on and the centers are green paper cut with a mini flower punch, topped with a dot of paint that’s dabbed with sparkling glaze. The leaves are tissue paper that I mod podged on. The dress is collaged and has a rhinestone topping it off. The piece was especially tough to woodburn as the wood was very ridgy. I added a rhinestone to her right eye to cover some heavy woodburning, it doesn’t show here, but the rhinestone does cover the boo-boo. For hanging, again I used eyescrews and ribbons and fibers in purples. I found an idea using polymer clay in Taking Flight and plan to make a few hanging tile trivets for my brothers and their wives for Christmas. It looks like a very fun process. If you have the book Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts check out pages 40 – 43. What have you been creating for Christmas this year? I’d love to hear about your projects and ideas! I’m off to do some woodburning now, then to play with clay! Happy Thursday and Happy Creative Blogging!
