Valentine Love

The doorbell rang, I was told to expect a package today so I knew that must be who it was. It was package delivery man! He wasn’t wearing a super hero cape, but he did have a very tall box! Hmm.. I “think” I know what’s in here! There were air holes at the top and since we can’t have pets where we’re living, unless my sweetie ordered me a gnome for Valentines Day this must be flowers! Indeed! I opened the box and inside there are a ton of long stemmed ruby red roses! Vase included! I gingerly removed the wrapping and trappings to set them free and started in trimming the ends and putting them in the vase. I staggered the highs of the roses so they could all shine in all their rosiness! And here they are for you to see, I put them on my art desk as that’s where I spend the majority of my time! So for now I’ll be painting in the shade of the tall red roses.

How pretty they are! And they make my art messiness look so much happier!

As per usual finding something special for my sweetheart for Valentines Day proved to be as challenging as any other gift giving holiday. He’s a techy through and through and if he want’s something he’ll buy it, so I never shop tech. I try to find treasure on my outtings but usually end up empty handed. I thought and thought and then read what Jared Knight was meditating on for his class starting on Valentines Day. It was so simple but so honest that I created my own version and meaning to make a “paperweight” if you will. I took a rock and painted it black, then after cutting a heart from white felt I put it on the rock by wrapping red fun fur around it and stuck a piece of cinnamen into the wrapping before adhereing it with a bit of tacky glue on the back. Here’s my interpretation of what my creation means.
A rock for our foundation ~ built solid on a stone.
A heart of white for purity ~ our love is ours, our own
The string of red ~ communication, like our blood that flows between
The stick of cinnamen for spice to keep things zesty and unseen! (or obscene! o.O)
A gift from my heart to yours for the road that we travel
I stopped along the way and painted this piece of gravel.
