She and her kitty came about one evening while watching TV. I started sketching a mound of grass with flowers growing, after playing with it a while I realized that it could become a fun hat for one of my girls. The kitty just seemed the natural choice for her to have as a companion. The camera didn’t pick up the sparkle that is the cat though. It’s layers and layers of Crystal Glitter Foam Paint. I painted it on so it lost some of it’s “foaminess” but it was the sparkle that I was after. The kitty has the twinkle from a rhinestone in the right eye. There are stamped and tissue paper flowers fallling from the summer sky with rhinestone and glitter dot centers. The dragonflys are punched from shimmering textured foil origami paper, and the dress is cut from some super pretty papers I got from daisyd’s. I’m still working on necklaces today and it’s keeping me busy so I’m happy! =) Until tomorrow… Keep Kreating.
Pretty in Pink was inspired by a journal page I did for a journal swap I’m in. I still have the journal and plan on doing one more spread in it before sending it on. I’ll post what I’ve done before it gets mailed on to the next lucky participant. =) Since the painting was based on an existing work it took very little time to recreate her on wood. This mixed media madness is made up of acrylic paint, watercolor pencil, rubber stamping inks, rubberstamps, Scribbles 3-D fabric paint, paper doily, collage papers, rhinestones, and a metal heart sticker. She’s almost gypsy like with her curls tucked under her matching bandana. She looks like she’s from the summer of love with her arms outstretched to embrace others. Today I’m working on some jewelry and another painting. I have several other paintings to finish up as well and a card of a Hula Dancer to make… that one will be great fun! Happy Saturday ~ I hope your weekend is very relaxing! Keep the Faith! *HUGS*
Oh the summer seas! Cool breezes and cruiseships to chase. The Mermaid Princess is decked out in her summer floral attire enjoying every chance she gets to elude human eyes. I had a blast using so many different mediums for this painting! I used, acrylic paints, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, gel pens, pastel pencils, sparkle glaze, dimensions fabric paints and the list goes on! The leaves are collaged on using summer napkins I picked up while shopping and the fish are scrapbook embellishment charms I found at a country variety store that has absolutely everything! It’s my absolute favorite place to shop! The mermaids “clothes” are collaged on using a greeting card I received from my mom. It’s got lots of silver embossing on it that doesn’t show up well in the photo. There is a lot of shimmering on the painting that sadly only shows in person and there are bits of green and pink splatters that are always fun and messy to make! Her eyes sparkle with iridescent paints and mediums and her lips are painted with a fabric paint that has metallics in it. I enjoy painting with a flat paint and adding glitters and glimmers that add shimmer and shine to bring out points of interest. If only I could capture those parts of the paints to share here. Tomorrow I’m off to my parent’s house until Thursday. I’ll be taking a painting to work on of course. Tomorrow morning I’ll post some journal entries I’ve done for a swap I’m in so you’ll have some eye candy to hold you over for a few days. =) Until then! Take a splash on the wild side!
Harmony was inspired by one of the journal spreads I did for Teri Leigh’s journal as part of a journal swap I’m in. I fell in love with the journal entry and decided to make a version on wood. I used vintage music sheets, paper doilies, rick rack, gold outline stickers, rubberstamps, collage papers, glitter paints, blue and black pastel pencils and blue fabric paints as dots for the flower centers and along the right edge of the lace. Today I’m working on Mary’s journal pages. I’ve almost finished one spread and started a second. I still have 3 paintings on my desk one being a mermaid just in time for summer. =) It’s another glorious Friday and the weather today is thankfully overcast and cool. We’ve gone 24 days in a row without rain which for Washington is nearly unbeardable. We need to wet our webbed feet frequently! On that note ~ I’m off to swim with my mermaid in some paint and sparkles! I’ll have her posted soon. Happy Weekend and God Bless!
Something a bit different from my usual art. This was painted for my hubs for his birthday this year. Left 4 Dead is a game that we both enjoy to unwind. Zombie killing is always a great stress release and pretty much guilt free. I did this painting on a canvas board after “smearing” modeling paste over it for texture. I used more modeling texture for the lettering and the figures. It’s just a fun and basically simple painting where I got a chance to play with different mediums that are sometime restricted to what I’m normally painting on wood.
And now back to normal. I’ve got 4 different paintings on my desk now ranging from my loved pinks and greens to mermaids and ladybugs! I’ll have more to share later this week. I’ve been “attempting” to clean my space up so that I have my supplies closer at hand and cluttering the area less! Always a challenge to maximize your art space and minimize your clutter. That’s the challenge I’m facing this week!
