Lady, Lady, Ladybug

Lady Lady! I’m still brainstorming on this painting. I want to add some text to the left side of the painting but I have yet to find the perfect thing to “say.” This piece has been on my desk for quite some time under a pile of many others that I’ve been working on. I finally found elements I wanted to include into it. The grass is modeling paste cut that I added grass-like texture to. I used a variety of acrylics, watercolors and fabric paints for this piece. The background is massively layered with blue tissue paper collaged over a blue and white painted background and a bit of glimmer. She has lots of sparkle from the hearts in her eyes to the dots on her “cape.” Her lips are ultra sparkely as are the little bugs that flitter around her. I’m calling this done until the perfect phrase comes to mind to collage on to add the final touch. Any suggestions would ROCK! =) Today is another hot one, yesterday the last time I checked the high it was 101. NOT my cup of tea. Today is another one of the same. I’m staying in ~ filling the tub and tossing in some ice! /Dive!
Keep Cool Creating!

Carpe Diem

*SOLD*
Seize the Day! This fun plaque in layered in flowers and crackles and shimmers. I’ve drilled holes in the top and hung with pretty blue wire that I curled on the front side of the painting. I used acrylics, watercolors, pastels, rubberstamping, collaging, glitter paints, sparkle glaze, rhinestones, flower brads, and more. Carpe Diem is textured with texture paste, painted pretty purple and crackled, I then put a light blue wash over the letters to emphasize the crackle effect. The center of the black flowers are done with black Liquid Applique and heated to “puff” it up. This is a fun bright sunny piece that can hang somewhere special to remind you to Seize the Day! Today on my easel is a lovely ladybug, she’ll be ready to fly sometime this week. =) Until then … Keep Cool, Keep Crazy, & Keep Creating.

Bringing Burgundy

Bringing Burgundy … combining my love of painting and my love of wine seemed such a natural process. This painting is done with colors I don’t normally use. The inspiration for this painting came from some cocktail napkins I bought at Top Foods a few weeks ago. They are collaged along the bottom and top right of this painting. The wine glass charm is from a mini wine glass candle set I recieved as a gift about 5 years ago. They came in a set of 5 candles so I don’t think I’ll miss one charm. =) With layers of napkin, collage paper, paint, ink, stamping, and gold leafing this young gal is bringing burgundy to her girls night out.

I’m busy finishing up another painting today that I’m going to use colored wire to hang. It’s a different type of painting than my usual. I’m hoping to have it posted tomorrow along with my finished necklaces that will be in my Etsy Store. Keep checking my store for new goodies. I’m busy, busy, busy! =) And loving every minute of it. Until later! Have a Faith-Filled Sunday! All Glory and Honor go to Jesus Christ!

Summertime Funtime!

Ξ July 14th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ The Great Outdoors! |

The carnival is coming to town for the weekend. We took a walk around the lake tonight and the rides and booths were being set up as we made our way around the 3 mile trail. It looks like it will be great fun with horribly fattening ~ yet tasty foods. There looks to be quite a few tent vendors setting up to sell their wares. I only saw a few signs posted however, a hippy shop, a airbrush tatoo parlor and one that looks like it had a little bit of everything (or a lot of nothing. hee!) I’ll out of town till Friday morning-ish and wanted to share this wonderfully colorful carisol, if you look carefully enough you’ll likely spot a carnival employee enjoying a respite in the shade on the left side of the carisol. Happy-Go-Round ~ Till Friday.

Growing

The idea for Growing came about while surfing art sites and viewing other people’s paintings. There is so much creativity out there!  I saw a painting of a woman’s face on a canvas with text in her hair and it gave me the idea of having flowers growing crazy over a painting and having a girls face peeking out. It’s rather over the top with flowers of all kinds, including precut vellum flowers, flower confetti, flowers cut from paper doilies, velvet flower brads, and stamped flowers. The leaves are cut from paper napkins and stamped. There is copper leafing and green glitter paint smeared about. The collar of her dress is also from a paper doily. There are gel pens, acrylic paints, watercolor paints, pastel pencils, and rubberstamping inks included in completing this pieces. Growing is truly a mixed media making from many of my drawers of yummy-artness! I hope you enjoy and keep your art Growing!
