Take Flight ~ From the imagination of my sketchbook. This is the first time I’ve used ribbon in a painting (that I remember.) Along with ribbon I also used quite a few fabric paints. From Fashion Beadz, to Scribbles, to SoSoft Fashion Sequins. I used texture paste for the dress and added layers of pink, blue, and lavender torn tissue paper. I highlighed the tissue strips with Yasutomo Pearlescent Watercolors and General’s Pastel Chalks. I’m always trying new mediums to see how they work with mixed media and find that fabric mediums are great for working on the wood surfaces that I use. I used some stencils and some rubberstamps to fill in the background. Her wings are pages from an old novel that have been painted. I added beadz to the dress neckline and scattered a few at the tips of her wings. I’ve also used some scribbles glitter paints to add some twinkles through the painting. She’s going up on Etsy soon so be on the lookout! =)
