Tadpole Paisley

Having fun with stencils! Both of the paisleys in this painting are from stencils I recently acquired. From my strange imagination I thought that a big paisley would be kind of cute as a “tadpole-style mermaid.” I used tissue papers, mass amounts of Sparkly Glitter Glue in Blue Topaz. Rubberstamps and bottle caps are used to add “bubbles” so it gives the idea that there’s water there… even if it is Orange Fizz! =) I used small squares of crepe paper that I “smooshed up” with my paint brush while using Mod Podge to “glue” them on. Lots of sparkle added to this using the glue, glitter, gel pens, sparkle glaze, and Twinkling H2Os. This turned out as a sparkly mess of papers and layers. I added sparkle under her eyes and shadowed her make up with black pastel pencils. Now I’m drawing out my oak leaf painting. I can’t wait to get the woodburning done. I’ll have her drawn out and ready for that by the end of the evening. YAY! I’m “falling” in love my some of my “fall” paintings this year. Keep Kreating and God Bless you all.

Hallow Ween

With October around the corner I thought it was time to be ready for trick or treating with this witch painting. She’s got tons of layers of papers, mediums, glitters, stars, tissues, paint, stamps, and stuff! The moon in this painting was so much fun to make. I used a “donut” style chipboard circle and painted it with yellows and oranges. Then I used yellow tissue paper and wrapped it using matte medium. It has a truly cobweb gauzy texture that you can see a bit better in this close up photo. It’s even gauzier in person the photo doesn’t due it justice.

This week I’m working on a paisley girl painting. It’s turning out quite interesting. I’m using orange and turquoise to say hello to fall. The leaves are starting to tint to orange and the maples are promising to be very showy this fall. I’ll be sure to capture some on camera to share with you. I’m also going to start a painting with a focus on oak leaves with a twist! I’m really excited about this idea and don’t want to spoil the “plot” of the painting yet. I’ll share it when it’s finished. I’m taking off on Wednesday to my parents and will return on Friday with something fun to share. (Not sure what yet… but I’m sure I’ll a tale or two to share.) =) Happy Monday! Keep Kreating and share what you’re working on! *HUGS*

Changes

With a faint tear streaking down her right cheek she’s preparing for change. Some change is good and some it harder than others. Be it the passing of a season. Or the reason of the season. She’s surrounded with leaves that have little to no life left and she’s not certain where the new blooms will be coming from when the blossoms again begin to appear. As always however, love will prevail as is noted on her pendant she faithfully wears around her neck. Faith, Hope, and Love. And the greatest of these is LOVE.

Love Prevails

This painting was created after a week’s worth of fiddling. I kept trying new things with this. I started with the wood burning of the girls face and used some gorgeous blue/green napkins my niece bought me. I wanted more layers so I dripped melted crayons on it in pearl yellow and pearl blue, I used my mini iron and blended the colors together a bit. There are creases and textures and sparkles from the pearls in the crayons. I added some flowers cut from paper doilies and some flowers painted on with Twinkling H2Os. The center of the paper doily frames the 3D flower that I used modeling paste and a stencil to create. The leaves on the painting are from tea bags of Tea Forte’. I added rub ons and stamped words to express what this painting is all about. I also used rubberstamping on some of the edges and on her hair to blend her to the background more. This piece is finished off with fiberous fringe and beads to make it pop! I don’t often work with these colors so it was a fun challenge and making the background a beautiful mess is also an expression of how love can prevail. Look beyond the mess to see the beauty that truly is.
* This photo was taken late in the day and doesn’t have the clarity I’d like it to have. The lighting wasn’t what I normally like. To see a smaller “crisper” image of this painting click hereEnjoy and Happy Friday!

Supply Shopping

Here’s a snapshot of some of the goodies I picked up on my shopping trip while visiting with my parents. I got oodles of stickers and jewelry supplies along with some paints, and stencils, and other yummy goodies. The frames in the lower right side of the photo are for making some jewelry with my art. Some of the other goodies I got are ladybug beads, rub-ons, jump rings, paper doilies, and stretchy beading cord. I’m working on a painting today and plan to use some of the goodies from this photo along with some gorgeous sea blue napkins my niece bought for me on our adventure downtown during her last visit. Lots of creativity will be happening with these goodies. I’ll be sure to keep you posted! =) Happy Friday and have a super duper weekend.
