Special Delivery is layered with paints, and collaging. I used Valentine napkins for the red hearts on the right, and added some tissue paper, rubberstamping, gold leafing, and some delicious teeny tiny heart stickers I just picked up. The heart she is presenting is collaged using pink tissue, and painted several times with 3 different colors of paints. It’s rubbed with gold paint and topped with XO, gold leafing, and teensy red rhinestones. Her dress and hat are collaged with some Christmas Kleenex I picked up last year. This just shows you have versatile mixed media is. It’s only as limited as your imagination. So let yourself soar! Step out of the “art” box and dig through your junk mail, your kitchen, and even your make up bag! She turned out bright and cheerful and who doesn’t want a special delivery of LOVE? Happy Monday. I have 5 or 6 different paintings on my desk at the moment and some ATC’s in the planning. I have quite a bit to do this week but as always Monday’s are super slow for me. It takes me a while to get back into the swing of my weekly routine after a weekend. Plus I woke up yesterday with a soar throat and fever so this Monday is especially sluggish. But I’ll get er’ done eventually! Drink your OJ and take your vitamin C! Stay healthy and creative!

This mini garden fairy is soaking up her Vitamin C through her flower garden. Orange Zest is an array of flowers and sparkles with a sweet fairy happily flitting around garden. From rhinestones to glitter, paper lace to stamping. I smeared the orange flowers with Orange Peel Stickles but it doesn’t show well in the photo. There is a plethora of sparkle on this painting which really makes it shimmer in the light. Tomorrw I will post the last of my mini paintings until after my next visit to my parents. I need to have my dad cut more wood for me. Until then I’ll have a few larger paintings to share with you. I’ve nearly finished two today and they will be ready very soon. Until TGIF! I’m off to paint! =)
Who wouldn’t love having flowers and vines for hair. You would have the smell of spring and summer with you at all times. This mini painting is done with woodburning the image on and adding collage elements and paint. What a fun wee painting this was. I used my mini flower punch for the pink flowers, and a some purple paint and a rubberstamp for the slightly larger flowers. Some of the leaves are stamped on while others are made from “paper” stickers. Her headband is made from an advertisement envelope the came in the mail … the colors and pattern were just to scrumptious to toss out. Her headband embellishment is a large brad that has been modified and glued on to accent her. I thought this was a fun little mini painting and it appealed to me with the hair being somewhat Marie like while adding a Going’ Green flair.
*The Music of Poetry* came to mind with a thought of my sister. She’s an absolutely fantastically talented poet and has quite the wonderful voice. The blending of the two talents came to me in the music of poetry. I gave this best-dressed poet a beauty mark to give her the edge ~ after all, we all know that artists of all types are edgy! The dress and hat are collaged with napkins bought for my by my 12-year-old niece on our adventure downtown. The glimpses of vintage sheet music are treasures from my sister. I used fingernail stickers, confetti, tiny glitter stars, and stars punch from metallic foil, her dress neckline has rhinestones and a feather so she’s definitely ready for her poet reading. I’m rather fond of this little lovely and hope you enjoy the use of black n’ blue in this funky painting. =) Until tomorrow… Don’t let Monday beat you up! /wink!
