Birthdays, Shopping, and Autumn Leaves

Birthday Boy…. now a man! Happy 21st son.

My son is my grocery shopping partner. He’s been a trooper ever since I broke my ankle, always willing to help out. This is a shot of him driving me to Fred Meyer for our weekly outing. I purposely left his face out for his privacy. He would die a hundred deaths if I blogged about him. But I had so share this sneak peek and wish him a happy 21st! We’ll be celebrating with family this weekend at Fujiyama Steak House and I know we’re all looking forward to it.

If you read my blog you may know that I’ve been keeping a pictorial diary of the leaves turning this season and this is one I caught today that I decided to share. I’m doing a montage of some select trees on a Parkway we take on out outtings…but I was planning on saving that till the last of the leaves were gone for the winter… so instead you get a wall of red! It’s quite stunning person. The main freeway is just above that wall but we like taking a more scenic route when we’re out and about. So many more things to see and photo’s to snap!

Last but not least I opted not to buy more Martha Stewart Glitters this week…. (although… I WILL be buying them in the future, instead I went for some brand new bling that showed up on the racks in the 2nd arts/crafts isle that Fred Meyer is putting in. I LOVE the flowers. They will work great on the crosses I’ve been making and the crowns…OH what a princess wouldn’t do to get her hands on of of those! I also tossed a rubber stamp into the cart and am excited about using it in my future art projects.

Tonight will be cake and ice cream, along with opening gifts and singing Happy Birthday… with much more festivities to come on Saturday at Fujiyama Steak House! As for dinner… I haven’t decided yet. If my son decided to meet up with friends it won’t be anything complicated. But he “does” have Fujiyama waiting in a few days.

Whispering Wednesday

Ξ October 27th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Whispering Wednesday |

I don’t have any art today and I realize I missed posting a toy yesterday for my Tuesday’s Toys so I’ll same this weeks toy (which was sitting on my desk when I blogged yesterday) till next Tuesday’s Election Day! I’ve already voted by absentee ballot and will be mailing my ballot out tomorrow. Today is Whispering Wednesday so I have some “secrets” to share.

Whispering Wednesday
  • I can be somewhat of a night owl
  • I am afraid of heights and elevators
  • I love stuffed green olives
  • I’m an avid follower of politics
  • I don’t own a car

I wonder what all this reveals about me. I guess over time we might find out as I whisper more “secrets” to you. I’ll be back again tomorrow to share something or other! I’m off to make dinner and tonight’s menu is pork chops, baked potatoes, and brussel sprouts. Nom Nom!

Sticker Books!

 ♥ Sticker Books! ♥

This was an awesome opportunity. Get your Moo on! They have everything from business cards to stickers, and oh, so much more!  I decided to make 90 stickers out of nine of my favorite paintings. DO you have any idea how hard that was?  I normally fall in love with each and every one of my creations… which makes it increasingly harder each time I create. It’s truly impossible to pick a favorite. The fun is to override the “insanity” of loving each creation!

These wonderful stickers will be showing up in my jewelry, greeting cards, and postal messages. I promise to alert you to them as they come about. Just remember to smile!

Faith, Hope, Love

Just a few more cross necklaces that I’ve added to my Etsy shop. I spent some time over the weekend preparing this wearable art for sale. I never know what I’m going to create when I start these gift-ables… but I’m always happy with what they turn into. These were especially fun as it’s been  a year since I’ve had the opportunity and the materials to create more of these necklaces. I have even more cross pendents stowed away after a shopping trip… so if you have a color request or want something “just so” let me know. I love a bit of a challenge!

Until tomorrow… God Bless You!

Dark and Dreary Rain Storm

Ξ October 24th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Photography, The Great Outdoors! |

It’s raining cats and dogs and it’s dark as pitch outside at just around noon.

The birdbath is overflowing with rainfall which makes the neighborhood birds joyful.

Autumn is definitely in the air as the weather does a 180° turn.

Some of the leaves on the neighboring Maple tree have already gone way of the wind.
I got to witness that, it’s was like watching golden rain.

It makes me want to make hot cocoa!

Who would dare to brave the waterfall and leave through the front door! Not I.

And me without my rubber boots!
Sharing my lazy Sunday highlight! See you back here tomorrow for what looks like more of the same.
What’s your Sunday looking like? Mine was Sun-less!

Here Kitty Kitty

♥ Here Kitty Kitty ♥
Although this is still somewhat of a work in progress I thought I’d share her regardless. This is the final “mini mini” painting. Next week I’ll start work on the frames. I have some touching up to do on her and a few final touches to include but for the most part she’s done enough at the moment to make her debut. I used Liquid Appliqué for her “cat” attire. I had to paint over it with black paint as the black of the appliqué was more of a dark gray when heated. This photo is over twice the size of the painting so it’s very easy to spot the flaws I’ll be fixing. I thought if I post it I better be able to see just exactly what I wanted to do to complete her. Tiny canvases are very difficult to work on! It’s easier to make boo boos and a bit harder to clean them up. All those tiny spaces to work around. I need one of Alice’s Drink Me potions to shrink enough to climb aboard and do detail work.

Today is yet another rainy Washington day and I’m loving it. The back door is open to the trees and the birds are enjoying the bird bath along with the rain. The sound of rain is so soothing and relaxing… one of my favorite things about Western Washington. I’m outta here… I’m going to go birdwatch out my windows! Maybe I’ll spot the local Bald Eagle again. See you soon and I hope your weekend is full of what you the happiest!

In a Haystack

In a Haystack

In a Haystack… this came about with the pattern background that my mom bought for me at a flea market. This is one of my “mini-mini” paintings. This makes four out of five! The fifth one is of a cat… so brace yourself for tomorrow. Her hat almost looks like a miner’s hat … which would be totally appropriate for her as she ‘would’ be mining for a needle in that said haystack! I’ve not done a sewing girl yet so this was super fun! … and… it leads to wonderful ideas for more possibilities. Imagine a larger canvas with vintage sewing yummy-ness surrounding it. I’m liking this idea. I’ve done tiny canvases all year. I did so for the sake of the economy. I was addressing the want for art and the need for decreased spending and I had some wonderful sales. However I’m feeling the need to “move up” in the world. I miss working on larger canvases. So.. come 2011 I’ll be creating larger pieces again … and I’m truly looking forward to it.

It’s finally Friday again… the day we all strive for when we wake up on Monday. Funny how we wish the week… and essentially our lives… away so often. We all need to learn to embrace each day and make them all special. Friday is an awesome day as we don’t have to wake up to work the next day but we can find a way to make each day of the week something to look forward to. Let’s explore the examples….
  • Make a joke Monday ~ Share as many punch lines as you can with your family and friends each Monday laughter makes time fly!
  • Trick Tuesday ~ Find some fun little safe tricks to share with your loved ones on Tuesday… check out some fun websites and local variety stores.
  • Wing Wednesday ~ Time for “Hot Wings!” Who doesn’t love a good order of hot wings with blue cheese and celery?
  • Thirsty Thursday ~ Num Num! What’s on the menu tonight for drinks.. be it slurpees to martinis… and please include recipes!
  • Finally Friday ~ Anything goes! Pizza? Going out? Making an elaborate dinner? We want to know!
Share your ideas with me and I’ll gladly post them. We need to wake up the rest of the week!

Train Up Your Children

Train Up Your Children

Yes, this is a “mini-mini” of the train conductor I did for a friend of the family but I fell in love with that little painting and I knew I had to make one to put into one of the Ikea frames I have. Now I have two more to finish up and then I can start working on the frames and get them completed and posted on Etsy. I’m rather excited about this project as the frames will really set them off and make them more “complete.” (Looks like I need to touch of his hair… so I’ll be doing that before I varnish.)

I ‘just’ got back from the grocery and I found something great to share….yep.. I bought it! This week I bought the Martha Stewart Metallic Glass Microbeads… and they are awesome. I might even like them more than the stringy glitters… well.. I love them both atm. Hee! One of the things I love most about mixed media is the textures you can add to your art. I’m always on the lookout for new and unusual products to include in my art and this one is a treasure. I LOVE the look of these beads.. they are small and can easily be smeared on with some glue medium to form collars on dresses, or you can stamp with glue and sprinkle these on to form awesome shapes. As always the possibilities are only limited to ones imagination.

Tonight’s dinner will be a frozen Chinese Orange Chicken… with rice. These are truly awesome and I don’t like cooking on shopping days so it’s perfect.. especially because it was on sale! I love it when that happens. And on another note, I ordered a few things for my son for his 21st birthday this coming week (he loves typography & literature)  and I also included a book for myself… THIS is what is on the way to me know. I’m really excited about reading and learning from it. Maybe a tutorial of what I learn is in the near future. Interested?

I’ll be back tomorrow to pester you with yet another painting that I finished right before I headed out on my grocery shopping excursion. I hope you come back to let me know what YOU think!     [HUGS]

Red Rocker

Red Rocker

Another finished mini mini painting ready to set off in a frame. I have three of the five done! I’m working on the remaining two along with some cross necklaces. I have good news as well… I cleaned my desk and got five hours of sleep! Astonishing news indeed! I truly need more sleep I feel nervous and edgy from not getting enough. Thankfully art calms my nerves and helps to smooth that edge… rather like sandpaper ~ and sometimes just as gritty. Hee! I’ll share this painting again once I have it framed and varnished. I’m thinking the frame will be black… or possibly covered with vintage sheet music washed with a complimentary color. I’ll see what flows when it’s time.

Tomorrow is grocery day so today I had to really scour the freezer and cabinets for what to fix for dinner. Last weeks produce was horrible so I didn’t buy much and now I’m struggling to come up with something to make for dinner. I’ve finally settled on Beef Stroganoff. I’m sure glad I grabbed sour cream last week! =) I’m always looking for something new to fix for dinner so no one gets bored with the same old dinner. It’s challenging as I love spending so much time painting. It’s good to break away from what we do constantly and create with a different medium … even food! I guess it’s time to take my own advice. Heh.

I thought I’d start sharing a few things about me with you and Wednesday seemed the best day to do it. I’m going to call it Whispering Wednesday! Some might be little secrets and others will be trivial things. Just something fun to break up the week!

Here’s the first installment of …ta-da… Whispering Wednesday!
  • Favorite Color ~ Pink… but you knew that
  • Favorite Food ~ Seafood… especially sea scallops and oysters… but I’ll eat all of it.
  • Favorite Movie ~ The Sound of Music
  • Favorite TV Shows ~ House, Criminal Minds, Haven, Merlin, CSI NY… to name a few
  • Something I can’t stand ~ Pride
That’s it for today. I’ll be back tomorrow to share another mini mini painting and some blog love. Come back soon.

Inspiration Lines

Inspiration Line

I just love these! Today I finished making four of these wall art displays in different colors including Brown, Green, Plum and Pink! (Of course!)
You can see all of them on Etsy. I made one these for myself a few years ago during the Christmas season to hang ornaments from down the hallway. It worked great! Our place is too small for a Christmas tree so we use teeny tiny tabletop tree and I LOAD it with garlands and lights. It’s extremely top heavy now and I’ve had to put rocks in the pot I keep it in to hold it down. With a plethora of Christmas ornaments and no tree to hang them on I decided to “Deck the Hall.” After I took the ornaments down I left the clothesline up and gathered up some of my ornamental hanging decor and strung them up! I L♥ved it. So now I’m sharing “Inspiration Lines” with you.

I’ve had more sleepless nights and ideas run through my head. I got a few ideas last night for some artsy jewelry and plan to see it through to fruition as soon as I can clear my plate….aka…..desk! As always I’m up to my elbows in supplies and papers and paints and to-dos and where-did-I-put-its! I’m hoping this week will be productive for me and that I’ll get some sleep from exhausting myself. Falling asleep at 5 A.M isn’t fun, especially after the 4th night in a row.

It’s 2sday already again and I have a very strange doodle pad to share with you… I haven’t used this yet and don’t plan to be vindictive when I do. I thought it would be fun to jot down frustrations on. We get some strange things coming in and out of the house and this is one of the weirder items. The petrified turtle poop my uncle gave us is one for the books as well! Until tomorrow! I wish blessings of hope and creativity to you!

Tammy’s Toys

I would never curse you… I love you too much!
