♥ One Hot Mess ♥
Time is flying by today faster than I want. The last time I remember looking at the clock before falling asleep last night was 4:30 A.M. OY another one of my sleepless nights. I woke around 7:30ish to the sounds of my hubs getting ready for work and then nodded back off till around 9:00. I managed to pull myself up at about 9:20 and have been busy at my desk and in the kitchen ever since. I can’t believe the day sprinted by so fast. Darn it! I was so hoping to get more done than what I’ve accomplished so far.
As you can see I’m busy painting frames for my minis while I have a work in progress sitting aside while I decide on what collage papers to use for clothing. With the stress of holiday deadlines on my mind I couldn’t help but pull out my bubbles and “blow” off a little steam! Hmm.. I wonder how bubbles would look with food coloring in them. =) I’m going to have to give that a try! What a fun idea! So today’s Tammy’s Toys is my bottle of bubbles. What an inexpensive stress release!
I‘ve got some mini black square in front of this picture. You may be wondering what I’m going to do with those. Not tellin! =) You’ll have to keep coming back this week to see what ideas are lurking in the mind of this mad-woman!
I decided to go with the Mexican turkey burrito idea tonight for dinner. I need to chop some onions and jalapeños and toss them in with the rice I pre-made this morning and some left over gobble-gobble and they’ll be ready for nom nom in a flour tortilla. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
I’ll see you again tomorrow for Whispering Wednesday … in the meantime … God Bless You!

♥ Work in Progress ♥
Now that Thanksgiving is over I’ll have time again in a few days to get back to creating. And part of that creativity will be making Christmas presents. OY! I’ve got a “few” ideas for my nieces but I’m still brainstorming. I think when it comes time God will put in my heart what he wants me to make! I have some great wooden canvases to work with so I have a wide variety of ideas they can accommodate. Wish me luck!
Our Thanksgiving was very quiet and relaxing and the food was wonderful. We even got left overs from my son’s outing which was a treat as I LOVE Thanksgiving leftovers. I have plenty of turkey to work with so I’ll be hitting recipe website to figure out new and creative ways to work with turkey and not tire out the family too much. =) We’ve eaten half of the sausage, mushroom stuffing I made and it went over very well! We were given some pecan, apple stuffing leftovers that I’ll be reheating as well. If anyone has any turkey recipes they want to share I’d be more than happy to post them here for you if you like…and/or link to your site. And I’ll be sure to let you know what I come up with too!
Has anyone started their Christmas shopping yet? Any Black Friday Fans? I’m more of a Cyber Monday gal myself. Shopping in my PJs beats the heck of getting up at 3:00 AM to be in line by 5:00 AM and stand in the cold and rain. So yeah, I’ll be hitting my favorite online shops Monday.
Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy your leftovers. I know I’ll be doing the same!

◄ Whispering Wednesday ►
- I’ve been blogging for nearly 3 years now and I’ve forgotten my “blogiversary twice.
- Today is my birthday!
- I’m fascinated with the Eiffel Tower
- My Dad’s father came over from Russian on the Underground.
- HUGE secret… I have panic/anxiety disorder.
That’s this weeks secrets. I’m saving all of my Whispering Wednesdays in a separate file so I can read about myself and hopefully learn something about me. I encourage everyone to journal things about themselves to help discover who they are and how they can improve upon themselves. It’s very therapeutic to say things out loud about who you are. Try it. It will grow on you!
I don’t have any art I’m ready to share today although I am working on a ‘girl with her poodle’ painting. It’s nowhere near ready for display. So instead of sharing art I’m going to share a my birthday card and one of my presents. I woke up to a gift bag at my feet with the most cuddly, soft, plush, desirable blanket any girl could dream of! AND… it’s PINK! See…

I ♥Love♥ this massive amount of soft huggable warmth!
Here’s the pretty card it came with….
Inside it says: “Be you, Be happy, Be loved, on your birthday and always.” and my hubby wrote “Become who you want to be.” (that’s the best give ever!) Loving, kind, and truthful words from the person you share everything with! What more could one want?

♥ Siren’s Song ♥
Most all of the paintings I’ve done this year have been 4″x4″ in size. I’m officially out of that size of canvases of wood. (save one that I need to repair.) I was really looking forward to creating something on a larger sized canvas. Siren’s Song is 7 3/4x 6″ so it has much more room around the background to play. I truly enjoyed the layering process while creating this. It was almost like relearning how to fill a bigger space. I used EVERYTHING here! After getting the mermaid wood burned on I went wild on the background. I added tissue papers, vintage sheet music, sponged on acrylics in various colors, added rubber stamping, confetti, stickers, gold leafing, metallic glass micro beads… (thank you Martha Stewart.) I added glitters and glazes, and gel pens.
I love it. I’m very happy with how this painting evolved. Once I’ve drawn out and wood burned a girl on wood the most important decision I make is color scheme. After that the next most important is collage papers for clothing. That pretty much sets the entire mood for the painting. I know I have a tendency to stick to colors I’m familiar with. I would however like the challenge of a color that I don’t feel so “safe” with. Anyone out there want to toss a color at me that you don’t see me use much?
Today is 2sday again ~ Wow how time flies! Today I have a something I keep in my kitchen that I consider more of a “gag” than a “toy.” If it makes me laugh or smile I like to have it around to keep me happy. This is a gift I received that I have on display so that each time I open my fridge I get a giggle. Here’s today’s Tammy’s Toys.
That’s a lesson a cowgirl would NEVER forget!
The weather is icy cold out today. Yesterday we had a lot of wet snow. It didn’t stick to the roads but the water did… overnight it dropped to 19 degrees and this AM the roads were a sheet of ice! Thankfully the sun is shining and heating things up a tiny bit. We are expected to have one more day/night of cold temps but not nearly as severe as last night and then on Thanksgiving things will warm up again and we’ll regain our “mobility!” Which in itself is something to be thankful for. Here’s what one and 1/2 day of snow looks like once it’s starts to freeze!
The sun is casting her warmth on us melting the ice ever so slowly.
You can see the majesty of the tall pine trees in the background that are homes to our local raccoons.
I’ll be back tomorrow to share my birthday with you. Until then, leave a comment and let me know what you’re up to! I love hearing what other’s are creating.

As the leaves depart from the trees in the distance a coating of natures frosting adds the beauty they were missing.
Camilla bush layered in snow and crystal sparkles to make up for it’s loss of springtime flowers.
In the distance you can see the blur of snow covering the leaves and ground cover ~ Oh for some hot cocoa!
Artistic touch to a sadly blurred picture of creeping vines sneaking onto the back deck. I think they are making their way to the back door to enter and warm back up.
Yes, I did paint today, quite a bit actually but I wanted to add the final touches to my creation before sharing it here. It would have gotten finished but I was out getting groceries and Thanksgiving supplies. I’m making dinner this year which I haven’t done in a very, very, very, long time. Thanks to Trader Joe’s it’s going to be a snap! They didn’t have all I needed so we took a short detour down to Safeway for the rest of what we needed to make the dinner special. Also… the day before Thanksgiving.. This Wednesday is my birthday so I’m rather excited about that. And NEXT year my birthday will fall on Thanksgiving. That hasn’t happened in a very long time and I find it quite exciting to look forward to being a turkey! Hee Hee!
What are YOU doing for the holiday? Any special menu plans? Any travel? Any company? Share you upcoming adventure with me. I’d love to hear what others are doing for Thanksgiving! I’ll be cooking, eating, and giving much thanks! What are YOU thankful for?

♥ Butterfly Garden ♥
This is just a little something I doodled with yesterday in my art journal and finished this morning. I now have only four pages left in the journal. At the pace I’m going I won’t get to my new journal until January of 11′ ~ Wow how time flies! Can you believe it’s almost 2011?
I don’t have any projects in the works on my desk so I feel rather naked! I need to start some paintings. I have a few ideas I’ve been mulling over but haven’t even done any concept sketches. I get some couch time today I guess… I’ll curl up with a blanket on my lap and some tea and draw some of my ideas out in my sketchbook. Then I’ll drag out my wood and wood burn! I LOVE wood burning for some reason I find it soothing.
Thank God it’s finally Friday again! ~ I think I’ll be making Chinese for dinner. Super fast, super easy, and super good! Have a great weekend and I’ll be back to say hey again SOON! Until later… let your creative juices flow!
♥ Hatter ♥
This is what I’ve managed so far on my Hatter painting. The background could be a little bluer but I’m fine with calling it finished for now. I’ll be shrinking it way down to 2×3″ prints for key chains so the background won’t be much of a focus. This was fun… and I used up my watercolor tablet so I won’t be making any more this size for a while. I’m ready to move on to do some more wood paintings. And… I NEED to work on Christmas gifts which I’m totally stumped on this year. I have a few vague ideas but I haven’t looked in to whether I have the materials or not. I can always improvise I guess.
I’ve been browsing Etsy a lot lately and have found some awesome stocking stuffer ideas. I will definitely be picking up a few fun things under the Geekery category!
It’s wet and rainy again today and we have yet to venture out to the grocery store… but I’ll bundle up and pull on a hood and brave it soon enough here. In the meantime here’s what the driveway looks like ~~ A huge mess of pine needles and pine cones! It almost reminds me of wild rice! Hee

♥ Sad Hatter ♥
This is the result of watching Tim Burton’s “Alice” once again. He looks SO sad. He’s so concerned about Alice and her
“muchness.” We just got an HD TV a few weeks ago and after all the hooking up and adjusting of this and that and furniture, and adding a surround sound system I think we’ve finally got it where and how we want it. So this past weekend we popped in our Alice movie to check out the HD quality. We didn’t really intent to watch it again but there’s something about that movie that I just can’t resist. Maybe it’s the wonderful imagination of Lewis Carroll or maybe it was the fantastic CG. It could very well be a combination of both that makes this movie magic to me.
I adore the Red Queen even though she’s “evil.” She has SO much personality that she really makes the movie! She truly has some of the best lines in the movie! AND that head! Oh my gosh! It’s hilarious. If you haven’t seen this movies it’s really a must. Not only to watch but to buy. We stopped buying movies a very long time ago but we knew we had to buy Alice!
Time sure does fly by. I can’t believe how fast the weeks speed by! It’s already time again for Whispering Wednesday. Hmmm, I wonder what I’m going to reveal this week!
Whispering Wednesday
- I used to be the guild leader of a raiding guild in World of Warcraft (I played a gnome warlock)
- My favorite foods at Thanksgiving are turkey, stuffing, and gravy
- My birthday will be on Thanksgiving next year
- One of my next “big” paintings will be a trio of Noah’s Ark
- If given the choice between sweet and salty… I’ll take salty every time. (Unless we’re talking Cheesecake!)
If you have anything you want to share be sure to leave a comment with your link so we can all enjoy your whisperings!

♥ “Green” Green Journal ♥
This amazingly small journal is perfect for your pocket, purse, messenger bag, or backpack. Just imagine the fun you can have while waiting at the bus stop or even riding the bus. This adorable creation was made with up-cycled materials. The cover is created from restaurant coasters covered in creative collage papers and stickers, while the inside is created from brown paper bags. The recycled key chain clips allow for adding and or replacing journal pages so your journal stays fresh and usable!
I’ve gone crazy today with my Etsy shop and have added a plethora of items for the Christmas season. I will keep continuing to do just that to keep all of your curiosity satisfied! I had a great time creating this fun and funky pocket journal AND if you don’t see what you’re looking for be SURE to hit me up here!
There are days I have NO idea what will be created and then their are days I have an “inkling.” It’s always fun to find out what’s going to be created! And I’m so proud to announce today that I have 95 items in my shop up for sale. All of which are affordable and lovable each in their own way! I encourage you to drop by to window shop. I don’t care if you buy, I just want to you see my entire gallery as it is at the moment!
And again! Tammy’s Toys!
I’ve had this sticker book for years! And.. most of the stickers in it for years too … but I keep adding to it and using them here and there. The stickers themselves aren’t the toy.. the BOOK is the toy! If you keep your eyes open you’ll see Stickopotomus stickers nearly everywhere you go!
