♥ Nom Nom ♥
While grocery shopping yesterday I hit my favorite part of the store and picked up a few things to add to my supplies. My goal for January is to clean out my hutch that sits along side my desk and get some canvas bins to make better use of my lack of space. =) Then I’ll use fancied up luggage tags to label them and hopefully a lot of the time I spend hunting for just the right thing will be minimized and I’ll be less frustrated. Yeah! Sounds like a plan to me.
I’m working on a couple of watercolor paintings right now and will be using my newly obtained goodies in them. They will be the Cupcake cuties!
♥ Cupcake Cuties ~ Needs More Sugar ♥
All but one of the packages I’ve sent for have arrived. I’ll be spending some time next week doing wrapping. I bought some pretty paper and I’m stocked up with tape. I’m not a bow type of person though. I prefer something more interesting, like fibers, twines, jutes, stick…. something creative and unexpected. Something that adds a bit of the drool factor into the gift. Even if the gift isn’t the best it could be ~ the packaging was fun!
I hope you have an amazing weekend full of pre-Christmas miracles, candy canes, and eggnog!

♥ Two Flappers Flapping! ♥
You might recognize this from an earlier post of some journal jazz I was playing with. This morning I decided to add some color to it. I didn’t get done what I wanted to do on this because the rubber stamp I wanted for part of the background came unglued… likely from spending too much time with me! I’ve seen this happen before. /grin.
I decided to make this just a quickie background as I have other things I ‘need’ to get done today but I had been procrastinating in my efforts to finish this journal before years end. I now have only THREE pages left to complete! YAY. I hope I don’t come unglued completing them. Or maybe it’s already to late for that. =)
I used pages from an old novel for her hair and for her headband, dress, and flowers I used a page from a mail order catalog. I simply sponged the background with a wet paper towel and some watered down acrylic paint. Easy Peasy and done!
Today is grocery day so I have my list next to me while I journal and put finishing touches on certain creations for Christmas. I’m not done. I have a few people who have me completely perplexed! As I was typing that I got a great idea! I’ll start working on it tomorrow… I can’t share it until after Christmas though. So you’ll have to come back later and see the idea that God just gave me.
Happy Thursday and I hope all your creative juices flow freely and without the pulp!

♥ Where I want to live!♥
I don’t have any art I can share without giving away Christmas gift spoilers today so I’m going to skip straight to my Whispering Wednesday feature.
- I’ve had to give up coffee since my PVC incidents. When I’m better I’m back to mochas for sure!
- I miss living in a small community. Living in an urban area is much less personal and “friendly.”
- When I finally get my own room for my studio it’s going to be black and white and PINK!
- One of my favorite meals growing up was my mom’s old fashioned fried chicken, another was her roast beef!
- I’ve never had a tattoo but I did have 3 piercings in each ear but I haven’t worn earrings in 10 years. The holes have since healed.
I spent the day listening about and watching an event that was taking was taking place today in Wilmington, Ohio. It was incredibly inspiring. If you’d like to know more about how this tiny town has turned itself around check out ~ THIS! It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with LOVE! It’s a heartwarming story and helped to cheer me up while I’m down in the slump dump!
I did sketch out some things to paint last night but couldn’t get motivated today. I needed a day of inspiration. I’m glad I took the day off as I heard some wonderful miracle stories that brought joyful tears to my eyes! ONE person CAN make a difference! I want to be ONE of those people!
♥ Hoops Skirt Happiness ♥
I was playing around last night while listening to TV and I grabbed some watercolor paper and sketched this girly out. Today I got up and it was the first thing I did. I decided on blues and greens and tossed in some yellow as it always goes so well with that combo. My favorite color to paint my girls hair is black unless I’m using white with other colors to accent. With the black hair and black boots I decided to add more bit of black to make this painting more cohesive. I’m not sure if I’m completely done with her yet but I decided to scan her and share her regardless.
I’m waiting on a call from my parents, they are in town today and had planned to stop by but it’s getting late for them and I’m wondering if I won’t get to see them after all.
I’ve been down this year and right now with the Christmas season abounding around me I haven’t had an ounce of desire to put up my tiny tree. I’ll probably haul it out of the closet this week and set it in it’s usual spot. I’ve already decided that the decorations would be minimal this year since I had to stare at them for months up months while recouping from my ankle. For some reason, even though I’ve been creating and shopping for my family I just don’t have the Christmas cheer. I pray that changes before next week!
2day’s toy is as close to a partridge in a pear tree as I can get.
Wind up bird! It scoots across the desk and flaps it’s wings… it’s really cute!

♥ Play Time ♥
I took some time to sketch out two of the remaining four pages in my 2010 art journal. Now I need to take the “relaxation” time to play/work on them. The left one is a 1920s Flapper and the right one is an Owl gal! What fun topics I have created for myself. And with only two pages left after these are completed I feel like I’m about to reach a milestone. This particular art journal was started to help me heal and forget the issues created by my broken ankle from last Christmas. My surgery was on January 2nd… and the healing process has taken nearly all year. There was much misery during this past year due to the effects from the break and the surgery so I’m very happy to be on the cusp of entering into a new year and a new journal. I’ve had great fun and created some of my favorite images in this journal but I know that with time everything changes and improves. It’s all a matter of attitude!
T
his new year will be filled with positivity and wonderment… along with a new journal! I’m looking forward to sharing the creations that come from the end of my pencils in 2011 and I hope to see your creations too! Art truly does HEAL!
Have an awesome Friday and a glorious weekend and come back soon … if you haven’t looked yet… scroll down to see the giveaway I’m doing. And… ENTER! =)

♥ Sticker Fun ♥
I’m exhausted. I did the grocery shopping and some packing and shipping today. I was in whirlwind getting the shipping ready. It has to arrive on December 15th so I’m super duper stressed. It’s a donation so I’m super concerned about it showing up the event it’s for on time. Please, please, please, pray that it arrives in time. Today I picked up these two simple sheets of stickers to add to my overflowing plethora of art supply bling! I’m a real sucker for things like this and Michaels and Joann’s are danger zones Will Robinson! But I actually use most of it so it never goes to waste. I have some things picked out in the art supply isles of Fred Meyer that I would LOVE to have in my stocking this year. One “punch” in particular. Along with a few other things. Maybe next week I’ll take my camera and document it for kicks. =) I’m nearly done with my Christmas Quest for gifts. I have only a few things left to create and purchase but I am still taking day out to browse through places like Target, Borders Book Store, and several of the surrounding stores that have caught my eye. One of my favorite things about Christmas are stocking stuffers but I’m the only one who does them in my family and mine always remains empty. This always makes me very sad as it’s super fun to find those little “somethings” that you know the person behind the socky will LOVE! I always feel a little empty inside when I find my sock empty on Christmas. If anyone has a suggestion on what I can do to feel better about this let me know as I am the primary “Christmas shopper” in the family and I don’t want to feel unappreciated this year.
Enough blathering. I have to make dinner now. I’ll see you tomorrow with something unique to share! HUGS to all of you!

♥ Over 100! ♥
I’m celebrating the fact that I now have over 100 people who favorite my Etsy shop! I’m having a drawing and the winner will be able to pick which painting they want. Either Flower Shower or Navajo Princess. The text on this picture does not appear on the paintings. It’s only there for the purpose of this drawing. Simply leave a comment on this post. I will let this contest run till December 29th. Good luck to everyone.
Today is Whispering Wednesday once again so I’m going to share some of my deepest darkest secrets… or not. Hee! Here’s five more things you don’t know about me.
-
I used to be a Eucharistic Minister (it’s incredibly humbling to give communion to someone.)
-
I love pistachios and macadamia nuts
-
I’ve had three broken bones in my life (things come in threes… I’m done now!) A finger, an arm, and an ankle.
-
I HATE confrontation
-
I used to be a Diet Pepsi junkie. (Now it makes me sick to my stomach to drink too much of it.)
Now back to varnishing… my all time unfavorite part of art.

♥ Owl Always Love You ♥
Owl always love you. This was inspired by the mention of the popular trend of owls. After visiting dozens of Etsy shops and seeing some of the cutest owls I thought I’d add one to a painting of my own. And of course I couldn’t resist the the addition of the pun. I’m a complete sucker for creative wordage. Ask my family… you will hear them groan! =) I used layers and layers of paints and papers, and glitters and gold. I still need to paint the back and varnish it but I wanted to share it with you first minus the glare from the glossy finish.
I started working on Christmas gifts today and hit a snafu. I’ve come up with a solution for it thankfully I just need to dig through my supplies to get to that one item that I need. I have SO many art supplies packed into such a tiny space that the challenge of finding the needle in the haystack is one I have to psych myself up for.
It’s 2sday once again and time for my toy show & tell. This one makes me think of zentangle. As tiny as this Etch-A-Sketch is it brings me back in time to the days of laying on my tummy in the family room doodling out artistic creations. I wasn’t able to create anything as fantastic as this but I did have hours of fun! I was an easy child to shop for. =) The lines on this one somewhat resemble the EKG that was done on me a few months back (well… sort of.) I’m much better now though. Hee!
Tammy’s Toys
Tune in tomorrow for Whispering Wednesday. It’s my version of Wikileaks.
