Tuesday’s Toys!

Tuesday’s Toys

Today’s treasure trove of toys features one of my funky purse “toys.” I’ve mentioned before that I have almost all pink accessories in my purse and this is one I bought recently to collect my spare change. My pennies go in a cup at home and I have no idea where they go from there. But my silver coins go with me on my outings in case I want to hit a vending machine.
I thought this was a cute and had to buy it. I got it at the end of an isle at Fred Meyer and it’s just what I needed as my coins were collecting in the bottom of my bag and I was jingling when I walked. Now I can spend in style.
Tomorrow we are heading out again to look at more homes so hopefully our current weather will hold and we’ll be able to avoid any rain. We’ll be going from one side of town to the other so it should be an interesting adventure in exploring my surroundings. I’ll remember to take my camera  this time and snap some pictures of the highlights.
I rather feel like I’m caught in a vacuum at the moment, kind of suspended in time while waiting to hear from the bank. They have until the 21st of this month to get back to us… we’ll see if they do. In the meantime life goes on in a kind of surreal way. My creativity has been stifled by this lag in life and I’m eager to have things move forward so I can start setting up house again in a real home.

I’ll be back ASAP to share what treasure’s we’ve discovered and what’s new with the house hunt. Oh, and by the way, the potato pancakes were awesome! Here’s the recipe I used.

St. Patty

St. Patty

I finally managed to get a tiny bit of artwork done. This larger-than-life ATC was created with St. Patrick’s Day in mind. I’m hoping to get the other painting I started done this week as well. I feel as though I’m coming down with a cold, my head is throbbing and I’m coughing and sneezing off and on today. I think some nice hot tea with lots of honey is in order. I can curl up in a blanket at my desk and paint.

I’ve also been having some issues with the back of my knee that hasn’t improved so I’m thinking I might have to see my doctor about it. Bleh! I’m so tired of Dr’s. from last year’s ankle fiasco! I did take to bringing my sketch book with me though so my time in the waiting rooms was spent doing something I enjoy.

The bank now has two weeks to get back to us. We asked them for a response within 30 days, but it feels more like 300. I spent part of the weekend making another list of homes to view in case this doesn’t go through. There are so many properties for sale and so many foreclosures and short sales… it’s rather sad. I’ll be emailing our real estate agent with the list to ask for an appointment. (I hope this cold goes away fast… I don’t want a migraine while house hunting!)

Today’s creative kitchen includes potato pancakes on the menu. I’ll let you know how they turn out tomorrow. I’m off to make tea now and bundle in a blankie!

Dreaming again

Dreaming Again

Here’s a photo of the kitchen of the house we put an offer on. My creativity has gone from wood and paper creations to decor ideas, garden dreams, and kitchen munchies. I will always return to the studio of my dreams but while I wait to hear from the bank I hold tight to the my faith. I wanted to share the picture of the kitchen today as my focus this week has been around the heart of the home… Cooking in the kitchen!

Today was shopping day so as usual I don’t do “all” the cooking. I bought a rotisserie chicken and some fresh asparagus and it’s soaking to be cleaned and snapped. I will sprinkle it with some olive oil, tarragon, salt, and pepper and roast it for 25ish minutes in a 400 degree oven. It’s WAY better this way than it is steamed! It’s crunchy and tender… veggie perfection. I got this recipe from my mom! (Thee most awesome cook I know.
We are waiting ever so patiently to hear from the bank negotiator and saying our many, many prayers for a positive reply. Moving is very stressful, it’s right up there with a death in the family and divorce. So I’m doing my best to keep my wits about me and think positive thoughts and look at all the good of moving instead of the stressful parts of it.
I just wanted to pop in to share this photo of the kitchen today … we’ll be buying barstools for the island and a small cafe style table for behind the island ~ as well as a side by side refrigerator with ice and water in the door. (as well as a used washer/dryer.)
We’ve told God we want it and we are using our faith to make it come true. If he doesn’t want us to have it he will let us know.
I just wanted to share where I’ll be smashing garlic in the hopeful near future. Amen and Amen!

In the Pink

Art Supplies in the Pink
I finally got around to taking a quick snapshot of the pink bins in my white cabinet. I think they turned out precious and I’m excited about putting my studio together. We are in a waiting game with the bank right now but I did hear this morning that the file for our offer is in the hands of the negotiator so it’s further along than we had thought. Prayers please! We have a price limit and don’t want them to come back too high on this home. We are both at peace about moving out of our ‘comfort zone’ and discovering the opposite side of our ever-growing Capitol city.

My art time has been limited lately as my focus has been on sorting through drawers and cupboards, cabinets, and boxes. It’s amazing how “junk” piles up around us and we don’t even see it until we really focus. There is so much stuff we can get rid of and won’t have to move that it’s a joy to donate as much as possible!

The green beans from Monday night were a big hit and so was last night’s homemade chili with cornbread. Tonight it’s a mustard/vinegar marinated beef that will be served Beef Stroganoff style with a baked potato instead of noodles. Since I have to cook anyway I’ve moved my artistic skills to the kitchen to be able to “create” since my painting is coming along ever so slowly right now. I am still working on the two pieces I showed you here.  It’s been a whole week and I’m ‘almost’ done with the ATC… that’s how slow things are at the art table this past week. (Sad Face!)
It’s time again for Whispering Wednesday so here’s a few random things from me to you.

  • I’ve been following the Charlie Sheen “train wreck”
  • I have a small but growing collection of small crosses and rosary’s
  • I fell out of the car when I was five years old (I only got a few scrapes and bruises… and lots of candy)
  • I remember what I was wearing when I fell out of the car
  • I’m secretly planning a garden for the back yard in my head
