Simply Awesome

Ξ April 30th, 2011 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

Yesterday’s shopping trip to Freddies led me to this single plate they had left. Now I have to decide what I’m going to do with it. It would be perfect for a trio of candles. It also pretty enough to hang on the wall or sit on a shelf all by its self! It’s extremely curved so it would be a perfect plant holder as well. I got this gem for only $2.00 so I’m extremely happy with my treasure hunt find. If you can think of other suggestions to use it for please let me know as I’m always open to new creative ideas! Our final walk-through was supposed to be today but your agent hasn’t called so I’m thinking the tile that was supposed to be replaced has been done yet. … Massive GRRRR! I’ll be calling to find out what’s going on and I’ll keep you posted. =/

Turning Over a New Leaf

Ξ April 29th, 2011 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

Thank God for his renewal each year!

I will miss this weekly drive to the grocery store as it’s a lakeside drive and I really enjoy nature and used to spend my summers hiking

This picture stuck me in a way most haven’t recently. It begins from the bottom all scraggly and somewhat bare of with a lack of direction. Then all of a sudden there are bursts of leaves indicating life and joy and newness. Such is life as we grow, we leave school and have no direction and slowly but surely we begin to branch out and show our true colors of gorgeous individuality.

I wanted to share these spring pictures with you as when I just graduated when I was much younger I wanted to be a photographer but I lacked confidence and direction. I chased rainbows each time they crossed my path. And they crossed my path in many forms.

Today I am happy to say I’ve got my rainbow in my pocket and value what I’ve learned and gone through even though it was indeed the school of hard knocks. After I got my Masters Degree from there I went on to a community college and got a different kind of education. Honestly I’m not sure which I value more. I learned so many life lessons from my first degree… and then I learned applicable skill for the work environment from the second. Now I’m moving across town to create a nest and once that’s done I’ll be schooling myself in yet another way that only God knows at this time.

Tomorrow I will share an absolutely gorgeous plate I bought off the Easter discount table at Fred Meyers today. It’s PINK, and green, and black with white… They only had one left so I took it to heart that God was saving it for me… I got it for $2.00… perfect for candles in my new bedroom or studio!

Can you tell how excited I’m getting?!

Signing Papers!

Carpel Tunnel Incoming!

Today’s the day of the paper signing on the house. We won’t get the keys till next week as it’s a short sale and the paperwork is going back and forth between here and Timbuktu. We’re on schedule for the big portion of the move for next weekend. I’ve purchased a new refrigerator that will be delivered on next Friday and and our TV/Internet will be hooked up on next Saturday. I’m very excited and very nervous, but it’s a good nervous. We’ve lived in our current “home” for the past six years and I’ve lived in the neighborhood for ten years so moving across town to things unknown is going to be interesting.  I can’t wait to get started unpacking and setting up a new home to grow in. I’m also very excited and anxious to get back to my art. I truly miss creating and getting my hands covered in something rather than newspaper print from wrapping glassware.

I’ll keep you up-to-date as the new chapters of adventure occur! I’ll be back tomorrow to give you more juicy details!

Tuesdays Toys and Happy Noise!

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe

This cute little “condo” is from a key chain that I removed the ring from a while back, I can’t remember why now … but… It’s a good thing because we’ll be moving out of the shoe soon into a much larger home. We got word this morning via email from our loan officer that our loan has been approved and we have documents to sign either today or tomorrow! You can imagine how happy we are and how much work is in store over the course of the few weeks. I knew something great was in store for us this week when I looked out our back window yesterday evening and saw this…

What a glorious promise from God! I’ll keep you posted… I have to run now as I have a very, very, long list of “To Do’s” to conquer! I promise to  keep you posted!

Happy Easter!

My Art Supplies are Packed…

Ξ April 22nd, 2011 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Chatter, For The Kingdom, On The Move |

New Glassware

My art supplies may be packed but that doesn’t mean that my created side is in hiding. I’m planning all sorts of artistic mischief in my head. Yesterday I bought these three gloriously colorful pieces from Fred Meyer (on sale I might add!) I’m hoping that next week they have a few left as I have a few ideas on how I want to round out our new living room with them. I’ve decided after years of earth-tones to add a punch of color to our new home and the blue/green palette seems perfect. Blue is the color that brings your mood “up” and green is the color that “heals” so what better combination for a living area? I’m going to add some things from nature such as sea shells and polished rocks but the heart of the room will be eye and soul pleasing color! … And I’m very excited about that. These containers will be perfect for candles, cut greens and flowers and rolled up napkins, PLEASE add any other ideas in the comments section as I can ALWAYS use your help with creative decorating ideas as I’m VERY out of practice!

I’ve so many ideas swimming in my head for some of the things I have lying about that I should really be making a written list of them all. For instance, you can see in the photo above that I have a red table lamp that clamps to my desk. I would love to spray it white and add some paint droplets to it before putting it back in my studio. I also have a table on the deck that has some weather damage that I plan to collage and use in my studio as a piece of art once I have all the painting, crackling, collaging, and artistic ability applied to it. It will go along side a relaxing chair where I can depart from my desk and read important art information or funny joke books to take a coffee break and rejuvenate.

I guess the excitement of moving is seeping out and you get a better idea of how truly anxious I am to get out of the “situation” we are in with our Evil Overlord. Thank you God for moving us into our new home! I just wanted to share some of my joy with you today and get some feedback if you could! I’m always on the lookout for new and creative ideas and spend my “creative” money on glassware this week instead of decorating magazines. So feedback is a must! =) What are some of your creative goodies?

Paisley “Pink” Pop

  Paisley Pop

My new favorite online place to browse is Pottery Barn Teen. They have what really suits my personality. I did “pop” for this paisley duvet cover and shams with a duvet insert for my new bed that I haven’t bought yet. I still need to buy sheets and accessories but I have so much time to do it… and believe me I’m going to LOVE every minute of it. I’m super excited about setting up a bedroom. I’ve already decided which furniture will go in which room … at least for now. I just had to share this paisley bedding with you as it’s giving me ideas for the rest of the room. I’ll share those as they come to fruition. I have an entire house to decorate so I’ll be sharing everything as it comes together. AND I’ll be setting up my studio which I’m very excited about as well.

The packing is coming along just as much as the soar muscles! At least I’m finally getting some exercise. ☺ Today is shopping day and I have a list of things I’ll need to get for cleaning and whatnot for the coming move so I’ll be picking up some extra supplies and looking for something to keep me busy in the evenings like crossword puzzle books. Hee!

I’ll be back tomorrow to share my glassware I plan on buying today on sale for the living room. I’m trying my best to budget carefully. =)

Have a great Pre-TGIF and tune in tomorrow for more decor delights.

Tuesdays Tea

Tiny Teapot

Happy 2sday’s Toys! I came across this tiny teapot charm (part of my massive Mary Engelbreit collection) while packing and couldn’t wait to share it with you. This makes a total of four teapots I’ve shared so far in my temporary version from 2sdays Toys to Tuesday’s Tea. Speaking of tea… I had the most delicious cup of Black Chia Spice tea from Stash Teas last night. I added a generous dollop of honey and sat down to unwind after a full day of packing, packing, packing. It was absolutely delicious!

Today my cup is filled with French roast coffee with French vanilla cream. Variety is the spice of life after all! I’ve been washing my dusty baskets in the dishwasher while I scrub other seasonal decorations in the sink and wrap them and pack them! I’ve packed over thirty two boxes so far and have a very large supply of empties yet to fill up!

I JUST had a visit from this little guy. I think he saw me packing and realized that his days of visiting with me are limited. He was kind enough to nibble on a pine cone and pose for me so I could make him famous on the Internet. I will definitely miss seeing the variety of wildlife that has frequented our back deck… From the raccoons to the doe and her fawn. But it’s time to bid ado to the old and welcome the new in with open arms and a happy spirit.

Brother Nature
Time will tell what I’ll be seeing in my back yard window this summer. I’ll be sure to share though! Well, it’s back to packing again… soon to be followed by another coffee break! I’ll see you again tomorrow with some whispers!

Hoarders… NOT!

Ξ April 13th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Chatter, For The Kingdom, Whispering Wednesday |

Hoarders

I was laying on the couch last night relaxing to some TV and as I looked around me I couldn’t help but feel “boxed” in. I have no idea how hoarders do it. I felt dirty and blocked in and almost like if I had to live this way I would surely suffocate.  If you look at this picture carefully, under the clock by the fireplace…(which is broken and the landlord said he would not fix….) you will see more boxes so our TV/Relaxation area is walled by boxes. It’s disgusting! BUT… I’m thankful because I know it won’t last too long and when we move I will feel so much more free than I feel now… or have felt in years.

Today other than packing my art closet and other various parts of the house I took time to get dinner going so we have something to look forward to tonight as we sit in out “box” fort. Tonight menu is Fiesta Tacos with corn tortillas and homemade Salsa Verde. Nom Nom. I started by slicing the steak meat into thin strips and making a marinade of lime juice, garlic, a package of taco seasoning…(yes, I cheated today) and chopped up fresh Cilantro, I added a few generous dashes of Chipolte hot sauce as well. I don’t serve cheese with these tacos so they are lean mean Mexi-machines! I might serve a side of refried beans or some rice. I haven’t decided yet. I feed 2 grown hungry men so I will likely pick one or the other.

Tomorrow I’ll get out for a short while to do a bit of shopping to pick up some packing supplies and some groceries then it’s back to the work. Things are going VERY well with the bank and the title company and we are getting an awesome interest rate so we are all smile around here.

I only have one whisper today for Whispering Wednesday and that is:

  • I hate packing!
I’ll keep you posted! And… take some advice if you would… When in doubt… THROW it OUT!

YES!

Ξ April 12th, 2011 | → 3 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Chatter, For The Kingdom, Tammy's Toys |

Finally!

We finally got word late Friday that YES we are getting the house. It’s been a long few months hasn’t it? We are now getting the loan process rolling and we should be closing on the house on the 5th of May. What a treat. We’ll be able to move before it gets to hot from summer and hopefully just after the spring rains. We are very excited about getting into a larger place and a place to call our OWN! If I want paint the wall I don’t have to ask anyone and when I want to use the fireplace I know it will work.

So now the hardest part begins. (I thought the waiting was bad… but now the serious packing is underway. I’m getting my studio items packed up as well and that’s the hardest part. I haven’t been able to create. But I’m doing a lot do room decor and in my head! I’m super excited about hitting the stores and looking at all the new things we’ll need.

I was about to pack up this favorite gem but before I did I had to snap a picture of it for today’s Tuesday’s Toys.. which has temporarily turned into Tuesday’s Tea. This teapot truly states my personality and style and that will come out more in my new studio which I will share as it takes shape.

Isn’t this teapot a scream! I just adore it. Lets fill this puppy with some chia spice tea, almond milk and honey and sit down for a break from packing! YES!
