Butterfly Garden

I’m ready. I’m over-ready. I’m over-cooked on the topic. It’s been two weeks since we’ve heard from the bank with the counter offer… and still no paper-work to sign. What are they waiting for already? A government shutdown? I’ve been putting things off that really need to be done. I need to go to the Dr as I can’t bend my right knee very far without extreme pain. I’m thinking it’s likely arthritis as I fell on my knee when I was in high school and usually arthritis hits a bit later in life on a prior injury. I want to get it treated but we need a certain amount of money in the bank so our loan will be approved. Once that’s said and done I’ll be able to walk the 5 minutes to my doctor’s office after we’ve moved.

It’s the little things that start adding up and frustrating me. I’ve packed up half the kitchen so I have much less available to me but at the same time I have much less to wash/dry/put away! It’s remarkable how much we can do without. On the downside of that I’ve also been packing up my desk and it saddens me that I’ve had to put my one expressive outlet aside. It’s made me a more difficult person to live with… at least for me, as I know what’s in there craving to come out… but I have to put all of that on hold for now and it’s the hardest thing I’ve done in a long time.

I’m also missing the small window of opportunity for creating my perfect yarden. The yard/garden mixed with flowers and butterflies and veggies and garlic and God’s given beauty! (Garlic flowers are gorgeous… See!)

I know I’ll have next spring to get things more organize outside but I was truly hoping that the bank would move faster and I’d be able to get into the home and in the dirt and start working the soil this year. It looks like I’ll be doing some prep work instead this summer and buying some hanging baskets and outdoor furniture so that next year we’ll be able to sit around outside and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

The yard is small but I have BIG plans for the space and I have great advisors as my parents have done a fantastic job of landscaping the “field” we moved into years and years ago! In a nutshell… there is still no word about the house, and if you have the opportunity to buy something that ISN’T a short sale… I’d highly recommend it… unless of course you want to learn patience… ….

Whispering Wednesday

Tall Drink of Water

We had our home inspection yesterday but the gas didn’t get turned on so it was only a partial inspection. Today the Realtor and the inspector are going back over to check the gas situation which we are told should turn out good. There are a few things that will need to be done but most likely we can worry about them after the move in. So, it looks as if we are one step closer to getting our own home. Next we wait… again! We wait for the the seller’s bank to send back the papers for us to sign and then we give them to our loan officer. Then we wait again… we have to pay for an appraisal, and then we should get the word that we can move in. It’s looking more and more like we’ll get the keys at the end of this month. THANK GOD!  We got to spend two hours in the house yesterday with the inspector and it gave us a better feel for things and time to “really” look around at things we hadn’t thought about before. After the time there yesterday I’m more excited than I have been and I’m chomping at the bit to get the ball sunk in the hoop once and for all.

In the meantime between packing boxes and going through cupboards and drawers… I’ve been taking a bit of time to unwind and get some of my creative energy down on paper. This gal was a spur of the moment drawing I did on a very fun size of watercolor paper. I’m in the process of packing up part of my desk so we’ll see how quickly (or not) this painting comes along. If nothing else it’s good for some art therapy!

Now for some silly secrets and this weeks installment of Whispering Wednesday

  • I’m going to start a few “furniture” projects once we get settled in our new home.
  • I’m going to keep a picture journal of the moving process to share with you.
  • I’m looking into getting my bicycle fixed up so when/if the rains stop I’ll have some wheels to get around on.
  • I will only miss a few things about moving…. two are some foliage that glows deeps oranges and reds in the fall, and I’ll miss the amount of birds we get here. (I’m buying a bird feeder!)
  • I really want to buy a departing gift for my Evil Overlord…. The movie “Despicable Me” (but he’s not getting another red cent from us.)
I’ll be back tomorrow to let you know if there’s any new news! Until then… God Bless!

Angel Garland

  Angel Garland

I finally finished my take on the angel I gave you last week. I went with a Faith, Hope, Love theme and I’m going to give this as a get-well card for my mom who is having in-office surgery on her foot tomorrow to have a cyst removed. She knows all to well what it means to be off your feet as she broke HER ankle last April, so we’ve had a lot of time to compare war wounds. I thought this might cheer her up and she can hang it in her lavender bedroom to have angels watching over her.

What fun it was go make something in multiples using my printer. I actually over-sized these before printing… so mine will be bigger than yours… I used a kraft colored cardstock to print them on and then used yellow ocre, rouge toscan, and rose all by Prismacolor. I used a gold metallic painty pen for the trim on the wings, collar, and bottom of the dress. I had some embossed lavender collage paper I cut for the dresses and then used dimensional fabric paint for a beaded look. The wings were cut with an X-acto knife and backed with a crumpled purple foil origami paper. I also used some black glitter on her hair and her shoes… and topped her head with a golden flower. Each is pretty much identical except of course for the stamped words on the dresses.

I actually printed six of these larger sized angels and have three left over to play with once we’ve moved. And it’s getting oh so close now. Our inspection of the property is tomorrow so we should hear back about our offer and fork over our Earnest money within a few days. (tomorrow would be ideal!) As soon as the Earnest money is in the hands of the bank we’re telling our Evil Overlord that this is our last month here. You have no idea how happy that makes me.

I’ll keep you posted on our inspection and how the rest of the p.a.i.n.f.u.l.l.y…. slow process goes. Seriously, I feel like I’m moving in slow-motion. I can’t wait to get the keys! YES! GOD is good!
