Impossible as it was to take a photo of a swaying bird-feeder while this character ate… I did the best I could without alarming our guest. Yes it turned out rather blurry so I tweaked it in Photoshop and made it look more “artistic.” I love birds… and I’m delighted to report that our feeder has become a hub for our fine-feathered friends in our new neighborhood. We have yet to buy a bird bath but it’s definitely on the list of must haves.

My desk is looking like a pile of paints and papers today as I’ve started the new painting and my fingers have various shades of blues and greens on them as I type. I love a beautiful mess like that! I’ll be playing a bit today but will be calling it short as my hubs has a short day at work and is then off to buy a BBQ and I’ll likely be making burgers this afternoon.

It’s already Wednesday so I have some whispers to share today… come real close so no one else hears while I whisper in your ear!

  • I believe that God shows me things through birds.
  • In my early twenties I became absolutely fascinated with birds and studied and read up on them.
  • I am in love with my new gas stove – and have cooked birds… just chickens.. in it.
  • I have a twisted sense of humor!

That’s it for today. I have to rush off and get a few things done before my time is up for the morning. I’ll be back tomorrow with some juicy tidbit or another! God Bless YOU!

 ♥ Work in Progress

I started a new painting today. I got the face started and decided on a background color. The color is OH SO important to set the mood of a painting that sometimes I really struggle over it. Since it’s summer however, I thought a sherbet green would lighten the skies. They are as gray as thunder here today. Along with doing a tad bit of painting I did a lot of scanning. I scanned more of my earlier art for making prints and tags, and tiles, and bookmarks, cards, and all sorts of whatnots. I need a display area in my art studio so I can put my art out and photograph it better. I’ll be hanging some shelving and some paintings next week. It will be fun to work in an are that has an art gallery feel to it. =)

It’s Tuesday already… time truly does fly. Who put the wings on the clock?! I have my favorite new “toy” to share today for 2sdays Toys! My brand spanking new Kindle! Isn’t she gorgerous!?

I am currently reading Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell and highly recommend it. Especially if you’re a patriot. It’s a heartfelt story that will require you to have a box of tissue at your side.
I have been really enjoying the different features that the Kindle offers and I’ll give you a run down when I know more. I have tons to learn before I’ve mastered it. It truly has a lot of very nice features.

I have much to do this afternoon and a steak to prep for my hubs dinner so I best run to the kitchen and start the pre-dinner process… I’ll see you tomorrow for some Whispering Wednesday!

Packaged & Posted!

Ξ June 13th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, Big Eyed Girls, Challenges, Etsy, Greetings Line, Jewelry, Les Petite Dolls |

Done at last! I’ve been cutting and trimming, and cutting and trimming, and cutting and trimming! I made over 50 of these teeny tiny treasures and had a blast doing it. I started with mini prints of my paintings that I tweaked in Photoshop. I cut them out using a box knife and then I glued them onto chipboard that I saved from some packaging. Then I used the box knife again and cut them out again. I glued complimenting collaging papers to the backs of each tile and cut them out again… this time with some small super sharp scissors. Next I mod podged them with 3 coats on each side to add strength and a nice coating for the super glossy varnish I used on them. Lastly I painted the edges of each and every time with acrylic paint to make it look more finished and give it a “real” painting look.
These gems are limited only by your imagination… some of the uses I’ve come up for them are:

  • Scrap-booking
  • Charms
  • Do-it-yourself craft projects
  • Decorate your locker…dorm…journal
  • Make flip flop ornaments
  • Turn them into magnets
  • Punch a hole and add earring hooks
  • Transform them into thumbtacks
  • Add them to your artwork
  • Hang them in your doll house
  • Collect them and make a collage
  • Make a greeting card
I’m going to be playing with a few later this week to see what kinds of fun and funky flashy favorites I can come up with. Once I get started I’m sure my imagination will take over and I’ll be left in the dust!
I have posted these Tiny Tiles on Etsy so please click on by and check them out. You’ll be able to see a variety of Tiny Tiles today. I haven’t yet posted all of the one’s I’ve made as I have so many, if you can’t find what you’re looking for let me know and I’ll do my best to make you happy! Thanks for dropping by and I hope your Monday rocked!

Off to make spaghetti now… Nom Nom!

Tiny Tiles

Done! Now I get to start the packaging process. I’m waiting till Monday to conquer that portion of this project as I still have bathrooms to clean and floors to vacuum before tonights dinner.  I truly had SO much fun with these tiny tiles and I’m still brainstorming more ideas of what they can be used for …. I also plan on asking my sister tonight what her input is. She’s a creative spirit as well… her gig is poetry. She’s very active in her community and is great with people! I’m excited about seeing her and her husband as I don’t believe I’ve seen her since Christmas… wow… thats horrible as we only live 45 miles apart. /Taps foot!
I’ll letcha know how dinner goes ~ until later… I hear a vacuum cleaner calling my name. Bleh!

Fox in Socks

I’ve been needing socks for quite some time and we went over to get my picture snapped for my Costco card today and this is one of the goodies I ninja’d into the cart. I also picked up a magazine… hey at 30% off the retail store prices I figured I was overdue for an art magazine. It’s called “take ten” made by Stampers Sampler and it’s new to me but I thought it was time to take a look  at a new publication to see how I liked it. I haven’t curdled up an artsy mag for quite some time and it sounds like a fun idea for after my shower tonight.

I spend the morning working on a ton of Tiny Tiles as you can see!

These are the backs of the wee wonderments and I’ll reveal the fronts when they are all done. I had to break to make lunch for my hubs and one of his co-workers as they had a half day and his buddy came over for a visit and to talk “gardening” which nearly instantly turned to shop talk and bored me till my eyes bled… thankfully my hair covers my ears these days. So much for learning anything from a former landscaper. These days everyones talking tech or twittering things that should stay in their pants. But I digress.
I just now finished doing the majority of the prep work for our dinner tomorrow with my sis and her hubs, this will be the first time she’s seen our house so I’m really excited. I decided to make Chicken Cordon Bleu and that was a bit of an undertaking beating up five large chicken breasts, stuffing them with prosciutto and cheese and trying to roll them up without the aid of toothpicks…something I forgot to buy. I used plastic wrap instead and rolled em up as tight as I could… popped them in the fridge and made the bread crumb/flour mixer for tomorrow, I had a helper with cleaning the green beans (thanks Ben!)  and I’ve already par-boiled them and have them ready for lemon butter and slivered almonds as a side dish. All that cooking I did and I’m not the least bit hungry and I STILL have to cook dinner for tonight. I think I’ll fix the guys something quick and easy and just have some soup if/when I get hungry later. The harder I work the less hungry I am. I am however wanting to take a shower which will have to wait till after the crew of two is fed.

Check back tomorrow, I just “might” have time to finish my Tiny Tiles and share some of the ideas I’ve come up with for uses for them. Until then… Bon Appetit!

Mini Miracles

  Mini Magic

Here are the first ten mini magic mania squares that I’ve been working on. They are mounted on Chipboard and have gorgeous collage paper on the back so they are pretty, pretty on all sides. I dabbed the edges with paints and used high gloss varnish on the front and back of each magical marvel. I’m going to sell them in sets of either 3, 4, or 5 for a set price but I have a sheet of at least 40 to cut, pasted, varnish and complete with tender loving care. It’s a tedious job as they are ever so delicate and small, but we all know that good things come in small packages. So I’ll be working on these over the next few days and likely into the weekend when time permits and completing them to the best of my ability on Monday. I think they would make an awesome wall collage for small spaces like lockers, cubicles, dorm rooms, above a desk. You could even place them creatively inside a frame and make a mini gallery to show off your artistic knowledge.

The ideas are starting to accumulate now as I thought they might as I started getting really involved in the creative process of making them. Again… if you have ANY thoughts, please share them. I’d LOVE to hear what you’re input is. I think a trip to The Dollar Tree might help me find some other ways to showcase these “gigantic” little gems! =)

It’s Wednesday already… seriously where does the time go. I haven’t yet had the chance to take the pictures I wanted of my studio and bedroom to share with you. I must confess…. I was glued to my Kindle till around 3:00AM reading “The Lone Survivor” by Marcus Lutrell. If you’re anything like me and LOVE our troops… this is a must read. I closed the Kindle last night when I hit chapter 3 and I’m LOVING Marcus and his story.

I think that classified as a Whisper for Wednesday...

  • I love our troops with great passion and now proudly live in a military neighborhood.
  • We are having our first “dinner” guests this weekend for dinner and if it rains we’ll be eating on the couches as we have NO table yet.
  • I’ve revised my “Wist List” as I’ve received several of the items on it in the past week.

Drop in tomorrow to find out what I’ve purchased on my weekly grocery outing!

Bookmarks!

More Laminated Bookmarks!

I just finished making more bookmarks and posting them on Etsy. I have also been playing with more minis like the ones I made yesterday. I have some plans to make a few more and sell them as is so people can use them in the creative way that they want. Tomorrow I’ll be back in my studio playing some more. We had a SUPER DUPER windy last night and it kept me away most of the night so I’m having another day of dragging my behind. I did get some work done in the kitchen and the bathrooms but not as much as I had hoped to. Hopefully I sleep better tonight and I’ll be able to get more work done tomorrow.

My camera battery is charging so I can’t take a picture of my Kindle today for my “Tammy’s Toys.” I do have something to share though… So here we go!

2sday’s Toys

I have several pair of tiny glasses that I use on some of my stuffed animals. I took this picture while I was packing at the other place and thought I’d save them for when my camera was out of juice. (kinda like how I’m feeling after 2 sleepless nights.) I just love cute stuff like this. I’m definitely a strange bird … I collect the weirdest things! I’ll have some pictures tomorrow that I’ll be able to share of my bedroom and my studio of how they are coming along… even though I didn’t get my shelves painted today. I figure a before and after picture might make it more fun!

Well, I have housework calling and few things I want to get done before I have to chop veggies for the Spanish Rice I’m fixing tonight so I’ll say ado and see you tomorrow for Whispering Wednesday!

Mini Chipboard Squares

Ξ June 6th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Big Eyed Girls, Etsy, Greetings Line, Jewelry, Les Petite Dolls |

These are fun… I’m not sure yet what exactly they’ll be but they are prints glued onto chipboard and finished on the backside with gorgeous collaging papers. I just printed out seven more along with more bookmarks and will be cutting and gluing, and trimming and laminating all sorts of goodies for selling. I truly need to explore my new neighborhood and find some cutesy shops to see if I can get some of my art in them. Without a car it’s a big challenge… especially with my gimpy ankle. I have to rely on my son to take me around. I think I’ll make list of shops and hit them up after he’s out of college for summer break.
I’m sure I’ll find somewhere I can share my wares. I’m also going to post some on Etsy and do some brain storming on different ideas for these adorable minis. They would make really cute charms for purses and zippers and that sort of thing. I’ll see what I can dream up! If you have any ideas I’d be very happy to hear them.

I’ll also be putting more Moo Magnets up in my store as they are always a big hit and sell out fast.

I spent a long time with my new Kindle yesterday and I’m charging the battery to day so I have lots of power for a reading session tonight in bed. I bought 3 books and the scrabble game to keep me entertained. I’ve fallen in love with the “sample book” feature…and spend the better part of the entire night reading chapters for select books… I finally put the reader down at 2:30, but woke up at 6:00 and I’ve been dragging hiney all day long! I think I need to go to bed earlier tonight so I have more time to get my reading in so I can get some decent sleep. Hee!

Pictures of my bedroom will be coming soon… I bought some paint to paint some shelves so I can hang them and get my room more decorated. I’ll share as I go so come back soon and give me your feedback. I LOVE hearing from you.

Mark My Words

Mark My Words

I had a great time playing in Photoshop and sizing my paintings into bookmarks yesterday. I was ecstatic when I found out that my laminator was still working after about a 10-year vacation hanging out in the back of various closets. I just got done posting each one of these little treasures on Etsy and they ready for purchase. If you’re a bookworm or know of one check out the opportunities available to keep the place in your latest book/s.

There is a certain irony to this post as I adore books… bookstores, libraries, and even the smell of a library cellar. My first “real” job other than mowing lawns and/or babysitting which I spend most of my youth doing… was as a Page in a library. It was my job to mail books to patrons, shelve books, and check books out to my fellow bookworms. The ironic part of this is … unknown to me, late last night… my dearest hubs ordered me THIS… with THIS! to go with it. Now I’ll never need a bookmark again! But of course I will. I trade books with my mom all the time. I got my love of reading from her and she has always been a big source of my reading material. With mom around I’ll never lack for books… but now I can buy some of what I’ve really had my eye on for less than what it would cost if I’d gone to the local bookstore… and savings is always a great thing. Plus… I’ll have a digital bible in my purse at all times. I can’t think of anything better!

I hope you take a few moments to drop into my Etsy store and look around. I’ve been working quite a bit lately to add some variety to my shop and I’m very excited for the opportunity to share it with you!

I LOVE hearing from you all… so PLEASE tell me.. What’s on YOUR easel!?

My Precious

Ξ June 1st, 2011 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, Big Eyed Girls, Etsy, For The Kingdom, Greetings Line, Les Petite Dolls, Whispering Wednesday |

Oooo-la-la! What fun I’ve been having creating these super cute ornaments. I got the idea from Jenga! I had a Jenja game with a block missing so I figured I had 53 clean palettes for creating just about anything I could think of. I came up with ornaments out of the blue. It was something I hadn’t done …yet! Now I’m hooked! I’ve made sixteen so far and they are posted ready for purchase now on Etsy! I hope you drop by and check them out.

I also played with making some bookmarks that I’ll be putting on Etsy tomorrow… I’ve dug out my laminator that’s been in the back of a closet for years… and I’m hoping like crazy that it hasn’t given up on me. I’ll find out later today when I plug it in and give it a whirl. I’ve been very busy playing in my studio this past week and have ignored a few boxes that are calling my name. They are in a closet so since they are out of sight they are out of mind. I need to pay them the attention they deserve and either get rid of their contents or find a home for them within our new home. Maybe they’ll turn into recycled art supplies!

It’s Wednesday already… rather hard to believe! Memorial Day has my week a bit mixed up… That will correct itself over the weekend I’m sure. It’s always good to have a few extra lazy days during the year. I made brats and potato salad with huge kosher pickles on the side and we pigged out! What a fun day.

It’s time again for Whispering Wednesday. So here’s a few things that you didn’t know about me till now…

  • I just started playing one of those stupid Facebook games… Gardens of Time. Fun, but I hope it passes soon!
  • I’ve been drinking Coke instead of coffee since we moved… What a “breakfast” huh?!
  • I’m addicted to creating! Oh wait… you may have figured that one out.

See you tomorrow with some bookmarks to share. GOD bless!
