Psalm Sunday

Psalm 3

Here’s this week’s installment of Psalm Sunday. Using purples, reds and coppers I wanted to make a bold statement. God is talking to us from His Holy mountain after all. =) I used a sticky back felt trim and smudged it up some with the paints to blend it into this TP Treasure. This is drippy, and globby, and sparkely with lots of texture and sheen from the metallic coppers I used. I topped it off with some bling using tiny red rhinestones.

I didn’t get to scan this as my treasured printer/scanner is down at the moment. We suspect that it might be the victim of a power surge and may require replacement. OY! NO… I’m hoping and praying for the best however.

I hope your have a blessed Sunday and a relaxing evening. I’ve made breakfast this morning and am about to hop into a video game for a bit and then tomorrow it’s yard work, some painting in the garage, and a bit of art. Until tomorrow, blessings to you.

Want to Paint Mon Cheri?

Look who showed up outside my studio window! He’s ready and willing to paint AND he brought his own supplies. What could be better. Let’s get some paint on those feet and walk em across a canvas. He even sits next to his lunch. Nom! I wish I were tall enough to grab a few of those acorns. =)

Yesterday I finished two ATCs with my Poppy theme. Here’s the first one…  You’ll see the second one tomorrow.

I’m calling this one Poppin’ Purple Poppy.  I tried to scan this yesterday and came across some glitches in my system… so my hubs fixed it last night and it scanned fairly fine. I ‘should’ have saved it then. Instead, because I was very tired I waited till this morning to scan and now I can’t get my printer/scanner to scan AT all. Sheesh. Union scanners… Grrrr! I don’t know what’s wrong. We had a brief power outage and now everything wants a raise to be reset. We’re even having Internet issues. ~ Extremely low bandwidth… so I have to wait around for the tech to come today to check out the issues. Bleh!  The good thing is it’s cloudy and cool today. Yeah… you know me.. I’m *the sunshine is evil kind of gal*. I might change my mind next summer when I have a full fledged garden growing.

I bought Tuna steaks yesterday at Winco for dinner tonight. Nom! I’m debating between a salad or wild rice pilaf to go with. I’ll probably go with the salad so the hubs won’t feel bad about ice cream for dessert! That reminds me… I need to stick some of my yogurt in the freeze so I can have an ice dessert as well. =) I’ll save the wild rice pilaf for next week when I cook the Swai fish I bought. They say it’s the new Tilapia, and extremely affordable, so buy it while you can. I’m buying it vacuum packed and stocking up! NOM!

Speaking of fish….
I’ll *catch* up with you tomorrow with a fixed scanner… I pray! God Bless until then… and think…*Mocha!*

They Will be Done

♥ By His Stripes ♥

I have a small collection of crosses on one of my nightstands that is starting to outgrow it’s display surface so I’ll be moving them to hang above my closet door soon… but I wanted to share with you what I have so far before they are up too far to photograph.  There are a few still missing that haven’t been unpacked from a few straggling boxes but this gives you an idea of what I have. There are three rosaries in the glass vase that I will find a way to creatively display either from a set of hooks or draped on the way in one way or another. The small floral cross with the dangling heart ‘was’ a key-chain but the ring broke off. (sad face!)  The cross made from railroad nails used to be on our dogs collar years ago… the other crosses were all gifts except for the cross with the black X on it… which I found at the dollar store and will likely dress up before hanging.  Some of my rosaries aren’t out either, they are still in a box and scattered about.. but these were the ones I had handy when setting up this nightstand.

I imported the photo into Photoshop and added some extra zing to it to make it more fun to look at. I think the butterflies are a good fit since they symbolize a new life. … and that is after all what Christ gave us. Thank you Jesus.

It’s hot again today so the AC is on downstairs, we made an early morning trip to the grocery and my hubs got part of the day off so he’s relaxing in the cool of his man cave room and watching some TV. Dinner tonight will be tuna sammies and potato salad to keep things cool… with lots of iced tea to wash it down. Stay cool if the sun’s blazing in your part of the world and if not… grab a Snuggie!

See you tomorrow with some ATCs. My scanners on strike today or I would have shared them. Unions! Hee. =)

Day of the Dead

Day of the Dead

I bought this skull tissue paper about two years ago and have only had the opportunity to use it once before. I actually hadn’t planned on going with day of the dead with this but that’s the direction it took… I had a goth idea in mind but flowers started sprouting in eye sockets before I knew what was happening… Wow… I hope my garden does that well next spring after I plant! =)

You can’t tell in the light but the rim is painted with a metallic green paint… aka ~ Nail polish. Since I’ve been doing art all my nails have become ‘tools’ rather than accessories… so I figured why not use the beauty supplies in my mixed media. It adds a nice bit of punch to things… and it comes in SO many colors! Nom!

I’m going to be working on some earrings for a special order this week and have been digging through my jewelry findings and other odds and oddities for ideas. It’s always fun to create something from a request. It breaks down a few creative walls and makes me look at things differently.  I’ll photograph the process and share as I go. I’m also working on a few ATCs and some other yummy art. I started my first BIG canvases too… that’s going to be interesting.. and messy! I think I’m going to need a bigger table top easel… and a lot of drop cloths!

Today’s Whispering Wednesday already so here’s a few sweet nothings about me. =)

  • Every Wednesday~ (Hump Day) my hubs and I race to remember what day it is and we do a firsties email with the picture of a camel.. (for the humps!)  I’m ahead by about 97%
  • I’ve named the downstairs bathroom “The Flower Potty” as I’m decorating it like a garden shed.
  • I’m on a cooking dry-spell… I can’t seem to come up with any novel ideas lately. (and ideas!?)

See you tomorrow with some ATCs and the first steps in my earring project! Have a great evening and let me know what’s for dinner!

Chaos in Pink

Ξ July 26th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Chatter, Supplies/Techniques, Tammy's Toys |

Yes… another Spam can completed. I used text pages for this one. I let my paintbrush lead me on what colors to use. … actually I used a baby wipe for application on this. I used some paper flowers I had in a light blue that I painted turquoise and purple… and the bling in the middle of each flower is literally a “Bling” sticker by Jolee’s. I glued them on as the sticky stuff on the back of the stickers has a tendency to get old and fall off over time. Glitter paint by Martha Stewart is brushed onto the flowers and the rim is painted with purple nail polish… and trimmed with some purple ribbon. And done! These can hold anything! Pencils, pens, any “desk/school” related item. They would also make awesome windowsill planters for herbs or small tabletop planters for nightstands, desks, tables, etc to accent your bedroom, dorm or girl cave. Each one has pretty much created itself so far and I’m working on the forth one today… Think Day of the Dead… Oh yeah! Talk about fun and funky.

Here’s the Chaos in Pink that I’m dealing with today. I have a ton of “little” projects going which makes for more mess than I can deal with. I tried to clean it up yesterday and had part of it done when I got a second wind of creative energy and all the cleanliness just hopped out my window… (that’s what I get for always having my window open!)  I really need to get some of these things wrapped up and taken care of because it’s messing with my brain’s feng shui.  I’ll have to get this cleaned tomorrow for sure… if not this evening. Today’s toy is my hippy headband… This is like a Where’s Waldo picture with cheats… if you look close enough you’ll see the beaded band I put around my hair when it’s driving me nuts and the fan is on blowing it in my eyes.

That’s it for today… I have many irons in the fire today so I need to go check to see if paints and glues are dried so I can move forward again. Until tomorrow! I hope you’re in a beautiful mess too!

Rainy Days and Mondays

Basket of Paintings
Here’s a tiny spot in my studio where I put little art objects… I have a card with a backpack strung from it given to me by my mom… there are two of my paintings and two cards I made recently… also I have a Kelly Rae Roberts magnet that was given to me as well. They all rest on some leaves I pressed… after picking them up from the yard after a wind storm about a month and a half ago. Time is truly spinning by so fast since we’ve moved. I can’t believe it’s nearly August already! Slow…d.o.w.n! I need time to breathe.

I have so many projects going today… I’m working on another Spam can, and some more of the TP treasure pieces and trying to get some semblance of order on my desk. It’s a huge mess today. So much so that I had to stop everything I was doing to put some things away so I could “think.”  Thankfully I don’t have heat clouding my thinking like yesterday… it’s much cooler today! Just the way I like it. I hope this weather holds for a while so I can get some more work done in the yard. I’ll share a few photos of that project soon. For now I’m off to finish my upcycle project and try to get some Etsy write-ups done so I can post tomorrow. =) Until tomorrow… Keep Kreating!

Psalm Sunday

Ξ July 24th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Art-tastic, Challenges, For The Kingdom, Psalm Sunday, Supplies/Techniques, The Healing Garden |

Psalm 2
I thought using a map for today’s Psalm was the perfect choice given the promise from God. This is from the NIV Bible and can be read here.  I used the TP cardboard and covered it with torn map pieces, tissue paper, paints, a golden moon sticker and a sprinkling of gold star confetti. I also rubber-stamped some countries onto the map before layering my tissue over them. I have a stack of these TP treasures piling up and will be laying some this coming week with vintage sheet music and some text pages from old books. It’s a very therapeutic process prepping the surface for creating on. It’s somehow very calming. I really enjoy it.

It’s going to be another hot day again today… bleh! (I so love when it rains!) I think I’ll hang out on the sofa with my Kindle in front of the air conditioner! So I’ll see you again tomorrow and hopefully it will be a tad cooler out.

Happy Sunday and God Bless You!

How Things Come Together….

Ξ July 22nd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Challenges, Chatter, On The Move, Photography |

This shelf was in our last bathroom… back in the day (3 months ago) when we all shared the same bath.) I painted it with three coats of semi gloss and it looks stunning and ready for decorations. I placed a tiny candle on it that will soon be replaced with …

The tall one in the middle. I think it will make the perfect focal point for the shelf along with a few seashells and such. I’ll use the glass tiled “vase” for cut greens from the front hedges. The bathroom will have a bit of life and with the skylight the greens will fit right in and it will give it that finished look for the room. I’ll include a finished photo when I’ve completed this little project. I’m just glad I found a place to hang my first “flower” painting. I’m starting to fall in love with the green/blue swimming colors that combine so well when wet. They blend so well and look so scrumptious that it’s hard to stop working with them.

Last night after dinner I went outside to the back yard with a hoe and started in… I did the entire length of the back yard +! I only have a small section to go. I’m ready to plant! OMG… you have no idea how much work that really was… how every muscle ached and how the sweat was dripping from my brow. It was SO WORTH it! I’m very excited about getting roots in the ground from various plants. I have two that will be ready this weekend…I’m not sure I can move today. Heh!

Later today it’s a trip to Fred Meyer to spend the last of my points on curtains and then I’m done until it’s time to hang the shelf … much like the bathroom shelf I painted, but much longer… in my bedroom. Things are coming together very nicely and I’m thrilled to share the journey.

More ATC Fun

  Butterfly Poppies

Between household projects and painting shelves and whatnots I take ice water breaks and sit in my studio and play with small art projects. This week it’s been prepping TP Treasure surfaces for Psalm Sunday entries and playing with ATCs. I have yet to post these on Etsy as I’m having a busy week, but I’ll have them up soon and let you know.

Yesterday I sold a sock monkey necklace on Etsy and it made me smile. The original painting was done for my hubs for one of his birthdays and I scanned the image to have it on hand for making crafty creations for others to enjoy! I just love the printing process and creating cards, bookmarks, pins and other treasures using the images I’ve painted in the past. Drop in to check out my tiny tiles and bookmarks… I’ll be doing postcards soon too!

We’ll it’s my grocery day again so I need to go make myself look somewhat presentable and see if I can find a shirt that doesn’t have paint stains on it…. Yeah… Rrrright!

A look at my retreat

Ξ July 20th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Challenges, Chatter, For The Kingdom, On The Move, Reading Room, The Healing Garden, Whispering Wednesday |

Here’s a picture of my room shortly after moving in…. and below is how it looks today…

I’m still working on it but I feel so good about getting my shadow boxes repainted and hung. My dad made them for me many moons ago for another house… they served as window treatments in a huge store-front style window. After a few coats of satin white they gleam again and look fresh as a daisy and ready for art and nik naks to display.  My nightstands are perfect for this room so I was really happy to have the added white furniture as I’m using such strong colors that anything else might overwhelm. On my night stand on the left of the picture I have a small-yet-growing collection of crosses that I plan to hang over my closet doors. I have some of my art popped on the shelves of the shadow boxes and a few reading lamps clipped to my headboard. I’ll be swapping them out when I find what I’m after… everything I’ve found so far is to bright and the bulbs for the lamps don’t come in 20w…. so my search continues. I have one of my bibles on the left with a notebook, and on the right I have my Kindle and a book that’s on my list to read. The photos are of my parents and my favorite kiddo.

I’m going to Walmart today to see if I can find some sheers for my headboard backdrop… and to find a frame for a poster of the Eiffel Tower my mom bought me… I’m also going to be looking for something to hang a very long shelf with. So I’m excited to venture out today (and sneak down the art aisle!)  I’ll share the shelf and art poster after I get that area started… right now it’s just a blank wall. Let me know what you think and if you have any creative juice ideas please share! I’m always open to suggestion!

My whisper for today is simple…

  • I’m reading my bible more and more lately.

Until tomorrow… when I have some art to share… God Bless and take care!
