Flowers In Her Hair

I finished this little ditty last night. I used embossed collage paper for her dress and painted over the embossing with colors to go with the flowers in her hair. I also used a lot of glitter glaze on the dots and circles on this painting but my scanner didn’t pick up the yumminess. I’ll post her on Etsy tomorrow when I have a bit more time. I’m getting ready to dash downstairs to make dinner.

The commission is almost done and at the moment it’s drying. I’ll snap a photo for you later and let you see how it’s coming along. I should be done with it tomorrow and be able to get it in the mail on Friday … hopefully!

Whispering Wednesday

  • Dinner tonight is courtesy of Bisquick! (I actually had all the frozen ingredients for this.)
  • I listened to a documentary on Goebbels while painting today. What a creepy guy!
  • I joined Pinterest.com this past week… awesome website! Join me.

Time to cook! Catch you on the flip-side of dinner

2sday’s Toys

Ξ August 30th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Big Eyed Girls, For The Kingdom, Les Petite Dolls, Tammy's Toys, The Healing Garden |

This week I’m opening Tuesday with Toys! I bought these at the dollar store… One of my all-time favorite places to find fun and funky toys and odd objects to use as art supplies. Also one of my favorite places to shop for kitchen utensils, oddly enough. These erasers would be really cute as tiny wheels on a circus train painting. Who can resist a rainbow!? Especially when it’s only a buck!

I’m getting much closer to being done now with my angel commission. Right now this is sitting in front of the fan on my desk so it dries faster… I’m waiting for some puff paint and some foil adhesive to dry…

I still have work to do on the face and some background work to do but she’s getting much closer to being able to take flight! I’ll share more of her tomorrow as she come to life and is ready to be mailed off to her new owner.

While paint dries I’m playing briefly with this little 5″x7″ canvas panel. I’ve not planned any of this painting out I’m letting the little angel tell me how she wants to be painted. So far she hasn’t said much because I haven’t painted her mouth yet! Hee!

I am however enjoying the texture process I did with this using modeling paste and the edge of a credit card. I’m going to be doing clouds in the back and a butterfly or two possibly

I’m starting a new commission tomorrow, another angel in blues I believe… I’ll share her with you as soon as I have some concept art drawn up. Until tomorrow! Take some time to play with some of your favorite toys!

Bedroom Gallery…

Ξ August 29th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, For The Kingdom, The Great Outdoors!, The Healing Garden |

This is my newest all time favorite painting. I did this especially for my bedroom… it’s hanging there now and I absolutely LOVE it! The bursts of color go very well with my bedding and the extra added textures from the paper flowers and the fringe are just Yummy! I haven’t officially named this painting… I simple call it Yummy!

On the opposite wall I have a framed illustration I’ve done…

This is another favorite as the impact of the black and white it an eye opener. So the art in my room is coming along nicely. I still need a frame for my Eiffel Tower poster my Mom bought me… and I need to do some bottle art on a glass Eiffel Tower bottle from my sis-in-law so Yep…. I have lots of projects cut out for me. And as you know I’ve been working in the garden… Here’s a quick glance at how things are coming along lately.

This is a little something I threw together in Photoshop last week. It highlights the prettiest parts of the garden. I’ve since bought some purple Salvia and a lavender plant that I’ll share with you later this week. I’m enjoying the creative gardening process very much and have a great sense of accomplishment with what I’ve done so far. =)

That’s pretty much it for today… I just got done putting together some homemade mac n cheese for dinner which will go into the oven in just a few minutes. Nom! I think the men will be happy tonight!

Until tomorrow and 2sday’s Toys! Have a great evening.

Psalm 7

Just a quick hello today as I’m dashing to and fro… I didn’t want to miss my weekly opportunity to share the Psalm of the week with you though. This week marks week number seven and is taken from the NIV bible.

Here’s the Psalm in it’s fullness…I’ll be back tomorrow to share my garden and art goodness with you! For now.. I’m dashing off again!

God Bless and have a restful Sabbath!

Playing in the Paints

Ξ August 25th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Big Eyed Girls, For The Kingdom, Les Petite Dolls, Photography, The Great Outdoors!, The Healing Garden |

Settling on colors is always the hardest part of the painting for me. Thankfully that decision was decided for me. Here’s what’s sitting on my desk right now. I have the dress cut out and ready to glue on but I wanted to do a little more background work before doing so. After that I’ll do even more background work. I’m waiting for mod podge to dry right now so I’m doing the rest of the work on my painting…

I decided the painting needed more textures because of the fibers and flowers I added to the bottom the other day. So… beads, confettis, glitters and shimmers are being added… YUM! You can see the wet mod podge here… as soon as it’s dry I’ll be working around the blue flowers and then the background adding rhinestones and shimmering finish. I already have the spot picked out in my bedroom for this and I’m VERY excited about getting it done so when I wake up in the morning it’s the first thing I’ll see… such a burst of color is sure to inspire me and give me lots of ideas for my creative juice menu!

I was absolutely exhausted yesterday afternoon. I got really super anxious and felt a panic attack pending so I took my preventative meds and tried to psych myself through it. It took everything out of me so I retreated to take a few hours to nap before coming back downstairs to watch TV with the hubs. It was also very warm yesterday so I’m sure that didn’t help the matter. I slept till midnight. I got up and saw that my hubs was still up so I went downstairs to find him trying the cushion of our reclining lawn chair in the living room. He said the upstairs was just too hot for me. I was so tired I didn’t even notice. I went back to bed and didn’t get up till 7:30 A.M. I slept from 6:00 P.M Wednesday evening till this morning…. over 12 hours of much needed sleep. I’m now sucking down coffee to get myself out of the slumber mode.

I haven’t slept like that in a very long time. I stay up WAY to late reading because I have such a hard time sleeping so I guess months upon months of insomnia finally caught up with me. My body and mind are refreshed today and I’m able to paint and play with great focus!

I want to share a bit of the backyard again with you… I’m very proud of what I’m accomplishing from such a horrible mess… so here’s a few of the blooms that have been inspiring my flower paintings over this past summer.

These snapdragons are the first flowers I got after moving in.. they were a Mother’s Day present. I have them planted in a HUGE teacup on the table on the back patio.

A glimpse inside the Penstemon. They are perfectly shaped for little hummingbird beaks! Tomorrow I’ll show a picture of them all in a grouping I made in Photoshop.

It’s grocery day so I need to run and get as much done as I can before it gets too hot. Then it’s off to shop till I drop!

Later Gators! God Bless!

Angel Work in Progess

Work in Progress

This little sweetheart is going to be a redhead. I’ve been commissioned to paint an angel… her wings are sitting on my desk and will be added after I’ve progressed in the painting process. I’ve done commissions before but this one is a bigger piece so it’s going to be a lot of fun to get creative with. The colors are going to be reds/burgundies/pinks, and greens. I think I’ve already decided on the collage paper for her dress.

I’ll get more messy with this tomorrow as you’ll see … today is working on the face day.

I took some pictures of my studio to share with you. Now that it’s cleaned up… I can start reorganizing things that got shoved to the side during the moving and settling process. I’m also donating some of my old scrapbooking supplies to charity so I have more room for storage. I’m also planning out my wall space for shelves, storage and art! Should be fun!

As you can see… I’m getting there. I think I’d like to put some shelfs around the upper part of the wall to put decorative storage bins on. It would be neater and more efficient than digging through the closet for items I need. While I’m doing this I “should” take an inventory and record where I store what… but that’s a bit over the top. Although it would be relatively easy using a camera and Excel … It might be a worthwhile undertaking. =)  Time will tell. Heh~

Once again it’s Whispering Wednesday… and Hump Day (Groovy Camel no? Does he scream PAINT me or not?)

Here’s a few tasty tidbits.

  • Thanks to being an insomniac I only get about 4 hours of sleep each night.
  • The older I get, the more I see everything through a creative eye.
  • Lately my favorite lunch is 29¢ Cup of Noodles. (Gotta love Winco!)

Over n Out for now… I’ve got a face to paint!

Clean as a Whistle

Ξ August 23rd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Big Eyed Girls, Chatter, Les Petite Dolls, Photography, Tammy's Toys, The Great Outdoors! |

After vacuuming up a house plant that I dumped on the floor the cleaning bug hit me. I love it when that happens. I finally got the desire to clean up really good in my studio. I started by hanging some of my mini paintings above my computer desk. What an impact. Now when one sells I just grab it off the wall and package and mail. Nice.. no looking through my boxes of finished art that I so carefully have stowed in my art closet. This way I’m inspired by works I’ve done and the paintings remind me of materials that I have and haven’t used in a while. Inspiration with a purpose! What could be better.

I put some finishing touches on a painting I’m doing for myself today. I’m now waiting for glue to dry so I can finish the final touches and adhere some hangers. Ooohh! This is going to be delicious! I’ll share this yummy with you tomorrow. Nom!

Another great day today…the weather has been cool and breezy, but no rain to speak of today. I’ll have to head out after dinner and water the flowers. I’ve been very productive today and haven’t taken the time out for tea on the patio. Here’s a few pictures of a few corners of the garden.

Mexican Heather

Penstamon and Gerbera

I don’t have a toy for todays Tuesday’s Toys category. I’ve spent most of the day putting them all away. I’ll share photos of my “clean” studio tomorrow!

God Bless!

Pearly Posies

Pearly Posies

I just love the texture of this painting. And oh so fun to create. This piece measures 8″ x 8″ square. It’s a wonderful accent for any area that needs a punch of color and interest. I used quite a few baby wipes and paper towels while creating this. I used them for blending the colors and smudging the paints so they blended beautifully. After I had the flowers the way I wanted I needed them to stand out more so I used a pearl white paint to fill in the indents around the flowers. I used two coats and then topped a few of the flowers with pearl embellishments. Once done I painted the edge white and trimmed it out with a gingham ribbon for a final touch. I’m happy with it. It will be going up in my Etsy store this week.

I wanted to share a picture of this Gerbera Daisy… the petals are coming from the center of the flower. Oh the imperfections that make us each unique. Learn to embrace those!

I spend time photographing the flowers I’ve purchased so far and I’ll be sharing them with you as the week progresses. I’m super happy with my floral choices and the color they’ve already added to such a blank space. Next year I expect that the garden will be extremely welcoming and I’ll be spending much of my time at the table out back painting. Ohh… I can’t wait! What fun it will be to have a pitcher of iced tea to accidentally dip my paintbrushes into.

I was hired for a commission over the weekend so I’m off to sketch out some ideas for that… I’ll be sure to share whatever ends up on my easel… so come back later to find out what magic is happening! Until tomorrow… Taco’s tonight for dinner and a much needed cool breeze today! God Bless You!

Psalm Sunday

Ξ August 22nd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Around The House, Art-tastic, For The Kingdom, Psalm Sunday, The Healing Garden |

Psalm 6

I’m really enjoying this series of treasured art pieces. They are small and portable… great for mailing and hold such inspiration and promise to those who read them. I’m not yet putting them up for sale as I have an idea for them once I get further into the book of Psalms. They are theraputic to create and I’m learning more of my Psalms as the series continues.

I have a busy this morning making breakfast and hitting the local Home Depot. We bought new towel racks and such for the bathrooms and as we’re updating as much as possible. I also bought some flowers for the back and an indoor palm tree for the living room that I need to transplant. Not to mention a plethora of other items I bought that I need for projects around the house.

This is going to be short and sweet as Sundays have turned into home improvement days for us… much to my chagrin… I truly think we should be doing these chores on Saturday… but….

That’s it for now.. I’m heading down to dig in the dirt and I’ll share some photo’s tomorrow. =) See you then.. God Bless You and enjoy your Sabbath!

A Visit from Hooper

Ξ August 20th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, For The Kingdom, Fun with Food, Photography, The Great Outdoors! |

He’s there somewhere… See if you can find where Hooper’s hiding. Hooper is the name of the squirrel who frequents our back yard…not to mention our Oak tree! While your hunting for Hooper you can get a glimpse of a bit of my gardening efforts thus far. Yes, that’s a lot of just plain old dirt out there…but picture it looking more like ‘this!’

Ewwww…Right?! So yeah… I’m making progress. Each week I hit the garden spot at the local grocery on my way in and pick up something I know I’ll want in my garden. I’m aiming on attracting birds, hummingbirds, and butterflies and I’ve read up on what flowers would work best…  the one’s I’ve bought in the past few weeks hit the mark!

If you haven’t yet found Hooper here’s a cameo appearance of him finding the sunflower seeds I put on the top of the fence for him… I knew he’d have to stop and nibble and had my camera ready!

This is taken with zoom style so, no, Sushi Train isn’t really that close to my back door… but I don’t think I’d complain if it were. It’s very yummy!

Come back tomorrow for more peeks at my garden and week six of Psalm Sunday!
