After playing with this layout for a few days and getting nowhere… I finally got an idea and am ready to move forward. After making fabric flowers and a few other goodies that I fully intended to use on this piece… I’m storing them away and going with a different route. I’m happy with my decision and should have this painting/collage done by the weeks end. I’m not sure if I was combatting artist block or if this painting was just being rebellious until it got what it wanted.  I’d like to think the latter.

I’m looking into these… This whole losing weight thing as inspired the girly-girl inside me. Someone who’s been hibernating for the past 8+ years in a cocoon. I’m no longer using alligator clips to pull my disheveled hair up onto the top of my head… I’m actually flat ironing it each day and trying my best to look like me again. The clouds are lifting… get your sunglasses peeps… I’m gonna shine bright! =)

From Mayhem to Marvelous!

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions… and so was my bedside drawer. I truly had intentions of keeping it clean, organized and NOT to turn it into a hot mess.  That was an EPIC fail!

I had the urge to “get it together” this past week and worked on an organizational system that would fit “me.”

I grabbed an empty egg carton and some tin cans and set to work.

Pretty enough for a desk top… I spray painted the egg carton pink and set about to make it pretty. Using vintage pink ric rac I glued it down around the edge and grabbed a used dryer sheet and made a yo-yo with it. Then I sprayed the yo-yo with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist. I topped it with an up-cycled button and topped it with some texture medium… along with the edges of the flower. I added some cut paper leaves, some pearls, and a bit of metallic embroidery thread and glued them to the corner. Wa-Lah!  Useful garbage.

And now the reveal…

Ta Da! Everything I need first thing in the morning and/or last thing at night. And nice and clean. I used pink tissue paper to light the bottom of the drawer then added some non-skid white mesh… you can see the pink peeking through with adds to all the pink of the cans and containers. I even spray painted the basket that I was using before. I feel calmer inside knowing that one of the “messes” I see daily is now history. Next up… the other nightstand drawer… and here’s a head start…

I left some of the torn up paper on when I painted these as I knew I’d be adding texture to them anyway. I’ll tackle these next week.

Have a great Friday and a happy weekend. And I’ll be back next week… It’s time for me to go catch a frog. O.o(you’ll see….)

Bucket of Blooms

Ξ August 23rd, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Art-tastic, For The Kingdom, Supplies/Techniques, The Great Outdoors!, The Healing Garden |

And done! I really, really, really… enjoyed the process of this piece. It pretty much concludes my series that I’ve been working on since earlier this year. This is number six in my garden themed paintings… and they are all hanging in my entryway. They looks very cheerful and I’ll snap a picture of them very soon to share with you.

Here’s a few close ups of Bucket of Blooms…

I rolled paper around twigs from my garden to make these flowers.. I used Martha Stewart glitters to embellish as well as some small push pins covered with puff paint for the flower centers. I also used some wooden beads, painted them yellow and glittered them up… topped them with a leaf and glued them onto the moss… also from my garden.

Try making a paper bouquet for your desk… just take strips of cut collage papers and wrap up around wooden dowels, twigs, pencils… used up paint brushes or what-have-you. I’d love so see what you grow!

I used so many different mediums on this painting… including something new I just bought. Angelica fibers… you can see the texture of them in the above photo… the green firefly is resting atop them.  I simply took two colors of the fibers and mixed them up a bit… then laid them on some metal mesh I have and used the heat gun to bond them to each other. I used mod podge and my brayer to adhere them to the painting.

Beachy!

Remember that little plank I showed you a few weeks back? Was it that long ago?  I made a cute lil wall hanging out of it. Using a stencil and some modeling paste I grew a palm tree and some sunshine came out. I used acrylics and pastels and glitter to top it off. For the bottom I used fabric beads and tiny shells. I added jute around the edge to hang it with and to give it an even more beachy feel!

Here’s a peek at my Bucket of Blooms which will be done tomorrow…

Drop by again soon to see how my art garden is growing.

Art Junkie!

Here’s a peek at the goods I bought for myself from some of the money I made selling my art… I’m supplying for my habit!

There’s lots more but I don’t want to bore you with pictures of embellishments. Instead I’ll surprise you with them in my art. My Angelina Fibers came today and I’m having fun adding them to my latest piece. They are absolutely gorgeous and add great color and texture to my art.

I also cut my hair today with the Creaclip. It works awesome. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. And I love how my hair turned out. And… I did my nails… just a clear shiny coat but they look oh so much better. I’ve been on a strict diet for a while now and the results are starting to show so I’m taking my care of my appearance now that I have my cheekbones back. =)

One of these day’s I’ll post a picture of myself… I’m not quite ready for that though.

Okay… I have coffee to drink so I’m outta here for now… I’ll share my next painting super soon!

Imagine

Imagine…

I started this canvas with text pages and stamping with bottle caps, then I layered it with tissue paper and painted purples over it… stamping again with bottle caps and other round objects. I used acrylics, pastel pencils, foil, glitter, epoxy, jewelry findings, beads, and various other yummy items I have in my ever-growing stash.  I added a bible passage and a kite made from papers and fabrics, rub ons and bling. It turned out to be a beautiful mess.

Here are some close up shots of details…

Whatcha think? Has this art doll achieved greatness or what?

More Yumminess!

Today I’m working on these goodies. Adding texture, outlining the flowers and leaves, putting some glitz on it… and waiting for paint to dry.

While the paint is drying I’m playing with this as well…

I know right… how fun is this going to be!? It’s a small little plank of wood but such a fun surface to bring to life. I’ve added more color, and texture with embellishments and mediums. Both of these goodies will be done by weeks and and I’ll be on to making some new art.

I placed an UBER order today to Paper Wishes… and Amazon. I’ll share my haul with you when it arrives. =) I’m super excited.

I’m finishing up number four in my art doll series today… It’s titled Image… and has lots of purple in it. It will be posted tomorrow. Drop by and sip a cup of coffee with me.

Ξ August 2nd, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Around The House, Art-tastic, Frills and Fabric, Photography |

This is the background of the last in my summer garden series I’ve been working on. It’s title is Bucket of Blooms. I have so many tasty artsy ideas running down the creative path that is my mind and I’m really excited about working on this. I’ll give you peeks here and there as things start to grow and bloom.

I’m also working on this gem. This is An Evening in Paris….

This is number three in my series of seven art doll collage/paintings/assemblages. Nothing is glued down yet so it’s not written in stone how this composition will unfold but I’m about to grab the glue and play… I have a take out container full of paints and embellishments and scraps of papers and oodles of other odds and ends that may or may not end up on this canvas. Oh the fun of gather the supplies from my baskets and drawers. Nom!

Check back soon to see if this Parisian piece is ready for placement!
