Everythings Coming Up Spoons…

Finally touches of gorgeous green are popping up everywhere! This is the maple tree as seen from the stairway landing. I’ve been watching these buds grow everyday and decided today was the day to share these gems with you.

I also have some other flowers popping up in a kitchen basket that I thought I should post.

Okay, so they are a little addictive to make. That’s the fun of it. I’m hitting the grocer today and you can bet I’ll have a package or two of wooden spoons in my cart to add to my funky family!

Today I’m working again on my paintings and I’m happy to report that I’m delighted with how they are turning out so far… I promise an update as soon as I can.

Back to getting my hands dirty!  Happy TGIF!

Eggstra Eggstra Read All About It!

I had the best time coloring eggs this year. I hadn’t done it years and since moving into our new home everything seems new again. I love how vibrant the colors turned out… I also love how the deviled eggs tasted. I’ve been keeping the colored egg shells in baby food jars to use in my collaging and my paintings. The colors are so rich and gorgeous I just couldn’t bring myself to throw them away. They’ll be appear soon in another create debut.

Today is my eye appointment and I’m looking forward to less headaches with new lenses. I’ll be dilated today so I’ll be all blurry this afternoon.
After my eyes are taken care of I need to visit the dentist for a toothache that keeps getting worse. Time to take the big girl pill and man up. I’m deathly afraid of the dentist.

See you tomorrow when my eyes are back to normal!

Spoon Fed

Nothing is safe with me! I decided to stir things up a bit with these wooden spoon dolls. Then I got a bit addicted and went a bit crazy…

Cute huh?! I’m working on the rest of the spoon family today and having a great time playing dress up and making each utensil unique! This really is a fantastic way to use up lengths of ribbon and twine that are too short for anything else. I’m going to have fun naming each individual doll and adding a tag to the spoon. I’ll dream up some fun stuff tonight while cuddling on the couch.

I’ll take some pictures of my living room transformation process… I don’t think I have too many old pics but I’ll dig through my photos to find out… and I’ll share them this week.

Until tomorrow… Have a awesome April day and enjoy all sunshine you can capture!

Who’s Go The Button?

Ξ March 30th, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Around The House, Art-tastic, Reading Room |

One of my favorites so far. I love the sting of button! This Spam can has sew much flair! Great for sewing needs or embroidery supplies. Even a nice catch-all for needle felting. Such fun. I used collage paper with a sewing theme and topped it off with some ripped and torn crumpled and rumpled pattern pieces. Using jute, I strung some buttons and tied it around the can. I topped it off with white nail polish around the rim and a length of blue and white ribbon that looks like stitching.

Pretty, pretty.

I love me some Spam cans! They are a very creative canvas for fun and function expression of yourself. Eat, Play, Create, today!

Have an awesome weekend. I’ll be tucked in my studio creating and nestling on our new sofa (photos coming soon) reading the last book in The Hunger Games series!

Eat, Pray, Love

Having fun with houses! This is actually a canvas frame I’ve had in a craft drawer for-  nearly… -ever! I slapped my favorite shabby chic text pages on and started painting and adding bling and other various nom nom. The tissue paper flowers are handmade from crepe paper and accented with leaves from Recollections. I treated myself a few weekends ago to some Michaels lovin. I received a gift card from Christmas that I cashed in on a few of these wonderful floral embellishments. They are super yummy!

I’m going to be posting all of these treasures on Etsy soon. I’ve too busy today creating spoons. Yep! I thought I’d stir things up a bit this year and expand my creative juices to whatever caught my fancy. I’ll share a bite full as soon as thing are all cooked up! Can’t have any half-baked ideas hitting the net just yet. =)

Today is buying new sofa day… so I need to head out of here and clean up a bit before it’s time for shopping. I’ll tell you more about that later… You just gotta LOVE interior decorating!

Ta-Ta for now!

Dream Homes

Ξ March 13th, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Around The House, Art-tastic, For The Kingdom, The Great Outdoors!, The Healing Garden |

This little dream house is made from wood and covered with text pages. I pretty much finger painted this with blues and greens. I used Black Lava medium by Liquitex for the black speckles and made a flower from yellow tissue paper. I wrapped the house with funky fibers and topped it off with some beads and my label makers “dream” sticker. It’s a really fun accent piece that truly pops with color.

Here’s another dream home made from the middle of a TP roll. I made a box and used extra strips of TP cardboard for the roof. Covering the creation with text pages and tissue papers. Again I made some lavender crepe paper flowers and added green beads to the centers. I used my new Martha Stewart craft punch to make the leaves and added and old earring with the back cut off to the base of the inside to add some bling to this little cottage. I just goes to show you that your really can make a silk purse out of a sows ear!

What’s on your easel?

House Numbers

Finally finished! I was waiting on the key to arrive in the mail. I bought some wonderful replicated antique looking keys from Etsy and just LOVE them. I thought the key was the perfect finishing touch for this painting/collage. The picture is a tad bit blurry but I make up for it with some close up shots of detail. Take a look.

This is such a joyful creation to me…  I really enjoyed the process and I’m going to hang it in my entryway with several others I’m working on with the same “motif.” Here’s a sneak peak at the background of the one I’m working on now.

This is titled “Tweet”… You’ll see why soon.

Have an awesome Friday and a relaxing and refreshing weekend. Grab a good book and kick back with a soothing drink and unwind in story-land! … And let me know what you’re reading.

Let Us Stamp!

Ξ February 14th, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Around The House, Fun with Food, The Great Outdoors!, The Healing Garden |

Or… Lettuce stamp! Art is everywhere. This was FUN. I love how the blue blends in with the green of the lettuce.. I stamped a background on a painting I’m working on and I stamped out some flowers on some text pages for incorporating in something or other… possibly my current painting. Bring everything into your studio. Open your imagination and see the beauty and possibilities that present themselves everyday!

Happy Valentines Day to everyone. I woke to a sweet card and a lunch date this coming weekend. We did our taxes yesterday and were so pleased with the results we rewarded ourselves with the new Kindle Fire. I’ll be playing with it and testings it and I’ll keep you posted on the apps and whatnots!

I found a great recipe to fix for dinner for the hubs to pamper him… check this out…I have most of the ingredients and what I don’t have I’ll improvise on. =)

I’m outta here for now… I have a painting calling my name. HUGS and HEARTS to all!

Made to Order

Ξ January 31st, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Art-tastic, Journal Jazz |

I got an order for some up-cycled Spam cans like I had made for myself… matching. They will have hangers on the back to hang on the bathroom wall for toothpaste, Q-tips, hairbrush, and what-nots. I reused everything from nail polish to romance novels on these… along with bling from the the scrap-booking isle of Walmart.  Save your garbage! I’ve been saving my used up food packaging for several other projects I have in mind that I’ll share when I have enough “junk” to complete them.

This was fun. I used leftover scraps from making my Occupy college and layered white paper napkins over the top. Then I used lids and corks to “stamp” circles. I then took a black chalk pencil and lightly outlined the stamped circles and smudged them up good with my fingers. I added the “watch me Grow” rub on and called it good. Easy peasy and pretty too!  Art journal entries don’t have to be complicated… they just have too look like they are! Hee.

Drop by tomorrow… My house painting is almost done… I think it might be ready for show and tell tomorrow!

Color Blocking

Ξ January 30th, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Altered Art, Around The House, Art-tastic, Journal Jazz, Reading Room |

I saw some Valentines done just like this with reds in Create With Me magazine and thought I’d give it a whirl in my journal. Very fun. I think if I did this with texture on a canvas it would make a great painting to hang for a burst of color.  As always I get tons of ideas and not enough time to bring them to fruition. I am however making a bit of progress on my “house” painting. Here’s what it looks like right now.

I think the background it getting much closer to being done. I’ll work on it more again tomorrow. It’s almost time for me to head downstairs and tackle the kitchen… and dinner. Think sausage and chicken… prolly pasta!

I’ve been devouring lots of books on my Kindle. I just finished one called Invisible and I’m starting a new one called My Boyfriends Back. I’m loving the free books and short stories. I have an endless supply of reading material at my fingertips! If you don’t have a Kindle… I highly recommend one.

I’ll be back tomorrow with some completed upcycled Spam cans to share along with my journal junk. Drop by and have some coffee with me. Till later!
