From rags to riches… and making a silk purse out of a sows ear. I’ve been making these decorative hanging gems from the lids of frozen concentrate juice cans. … like this…

So far I’ve made nine of these funky mini mobiles. I’m using beads, mini mirrors, wooden circles, decorative napkins, charms, scrapbook embellishments, and more to complete them. It’s turning out to be a great way to use up some of my not-often-used bling, and it helps stretch and strengthen my creative muscle.

I’m having a great time trying new things and making gifts for family and friends… I’ll share more tomorrow of some of my other creations I’ve been working on. I’m busy with the pre-Christmas duties that need doing each year. It’s actually been more fun for me this year as we have our own home and we are all more comfortable and at peace because of it… and the vast amounts of space we now have for relaxing and creating. I can now easily leave my projects on my desks and come back to them and they aren’t in anyone’s way. I’m loving it.

Here’s another look at the mini mobiles… I’m getting ready to head out into the cold for some much needed Christmas shopping…and I’m actually getting excited about it this year.

I was hired to make approximately
250 price tags for my jewelry making auntie. Here’s about half of what I came up with. The rest are more of the same smaller ones that are in a variety of pastel colors… each with a seed bead on it’s string to add a bit of punch.

Here’s a close up of the steampunk, dress-forms, goth skulls, and little purses that I made into Photoshop brushes from sketches and turned into artful tags. What a great way to get your products noticed. I finished the last of them this morning and will be mailing them the day after Thanksgiving which is also my birthday.

This was one of the most challenging things I’ve undertaken in a long time and I found myself growing as an artist while working on them and once I got the hang of what I was doing….the ideas just kept flowing. I had an awesome time creating these price tags… so if you find yourself needing something to make your creations stand out at fairs and such… give me a holler. I’d love to do some commission work for you as well.

I hope you all have an awesome Turkey day and have a lot to be thankful for. I’m thankful for another year of upcoming creativity and that my family is healthy and safe. God Bless you all and have a wonderful holiday.

Happy Sunday. Another week has come and gone and I have another week of prayer and faith under my belt. I helped my sister do some moving this past week while visiting my parents. I got some really cool stuff to share as well. I’ll post pictures this coming week of some of my newly acquired treasures as well as photos of around my parents property.

We had a visit from a wandering coyote and I was able to get a few photos of him to share. I’ll show those tomorrow. I got to spend time with my sis and my brother, his wife, and my niece. It was a good time and I’m already looking forward to the next time I go visit… Next month! The weather is definitely autumn now. Time to dig the winter coat out of the closet for the season.

I’ll leave you with today Psalm. Psalm 12. God Bless you!

In the Lord I take refuge. Amen to that. I’m getting a few Sunday’s closer to making it 10 percent of the way through the Psalms. I was partially inspired to focus on the Psalms by Deitrich Bonhoeffer. He was a marvelous person during the most trying times in Germany and his faith is an incredible story to read about. He is the author of several books including Psalms: The Prayer Book of the Bible.
She doesn’t look like much here but she’s on her way to blossoming. That’s one thing I find so miraculous about creating. You can start with a clean slate, make a total mess and transform it into a thing of beauty. Just wait and watch and I’ll share the process with you… It amazes me each time when God shows me ways to transform a blank canvas into a thing of amazing bursts of color and texture.

I’m also working on some “tiny tags” or “mini markers.” I had some printer problems the other day and was fighting for two days with my printer … I was to the point were I thought we might have to part ways but thanks to an incredibly talented techy husband he worked his magic and all is good… Once he got my beloved printer up online again I started printing things like crazy… these are just a very small sample of what I’m working on behind the scenes.

This is a 9×12″ original painting mounted on a 10×13″ heavy 3/4″ painted wood backboard with a a picture hanger. To get a better close up picture you can see it at Etsy … here. I always get overly stressed when someone orders a painting. I want desperately to meet their needs and they give me free creative license which makes it both easier and harder at the same time. I ask questions about colors, interests, dreams, goals, etc. I just try to get to know a little about the subject of my paintings.

What are your desires, dreams, hopes, beliefs? I’d be honored to express them via my creative energy for you to enjoy on your wall. It’s a tribute to you! What a wonderful gift to give yourself or have a loved one give to you. I’d love to encourage you to follow suit. I do ALL sizes and price ranges of original art for clients and I would be honored to put your story onto a painted surface for you and your family.

I’m working on a second commission which I’ll reveal to you tomorrow. =) Come back soon!

Using the standard trash to treasure technique for my Psalm Sunday entry I mixed it up a bit this time and topped the surface with a tropical umbrella. I recently saw a video online using these umbrellas to create a hanging lamp and I’m SO going to make one. I fell in love with it… The way the colors blend together and with the light coming from the inside…it’s perfect for my studio and can be taken outside and hung from a Shepard’s hook for when you have a garden party. Check out the video here. Now that you’ve seen the video you want to make one too don’t you!? =) Aren’t they great… and SO simple!

Tomorrow’s going to be a busy day for me. I’m going to be packaging up a few items for shipping and cleaning my studio to get ready for my table top easel so I can start in on my Super Sized painting. I’m excited about getting really messy and having fun. I’ll share the journey with you as well. In the meantime…It’s almost time for Bayless Conley and after that I’m cooking the crew a brunch of sausage, hash-browns and eggs (Nom-Nom!) so I’m going to be busy… until later I’m leaving you with today’s Psalm. Psalm 4. Enjoy and God Bless!

Here’s this week’s installment of Psalm Sunday. Using purples, reds and coppers I wanted to make a bold statement. God is talking to us from His Holy mountain after all. =) I used a sticky back felt trim and smudged it up some with the paints to blend it into this TP Treasure. This is drippy, and globby, and sparkely with lots of texture and sheen from the metallic coppers I used. I topped it off with some bling using tiny red rhinestones.

I didn’t get to scan this as my treasured printer/scanner is down at the moment. We suspect that it might be the victim of a power surge and may require replacement. OY! NO… I’m hoping and praying for the best however.

I hope your have a blessed Sunday and a relaxing evening. I’ve made breakfast this morning and am about to hop into a video game for a bit and then tomorrow it’s yard work, some painting in the garage, and a bit of art. Until tomorrow, blessings to you.
