Doodles and More

Done on a light gray paper I freehanded this simple bouquet of flowers as a therapeutic relaxation exercise. Using fine point Stabilo felt tipped pens I drew this out in black. Then I added the teal, blue and oranges. It was an extremely enjoyable and quick process.. I’m going to try to find a frame for this today as we have the perfect spot for this in our new home. I have another one I’m working on and will share that soon as well. I’ve finished several paintings since I last posted and I’ll share those with you during the next couple days. One is of the house I was working on… I added the final touch today and it’s drying. The other is a very whimsical (or whizmickle as I was pronouncing it on Christmas eve.) Noah’s Ark painting.

Today is shopping day so I’m about ready to head out and do the weeks errands. But first we interrupt this chore to bring you a large steaming cup of mocha and a quick break!

I’ll see you tomorrow with more artsy love.

Occupy … and stuff

Ξ January 24th, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Chatter, For The Kingdom |

I had fun playing with torn papers, stamps, embellishments, pens, paints, and oodles of other goodies making this Valentine collage. I took advantage of the Occupy movement and moved it to my heart! Right were it belongs. What a fun expression. I used paper umbrellas, brads, confetti, and much more that just doesn’t show up in this photo. I’ll try to get a scan of this painting this week and share a better close up of this punch of color!

I’ve been having lots of fun in my studio this new year. I’ve created everything from my clay acorns and cardboard birds to more recycled tins, collages and art journal fun. I’m working on some more tins for hanging on the wall and will share them as I can.

I’m also working on a art doll that I made over ten years ago… I’ve covered the clay with tissue paper so that I have a base to work from. Let me know what you see in this doll … I could use a boost of inspiration!

So far all I’ve come up with is Crash Test Mummy…. OY!

See you tomorrow for more amusement!

Acorn-ucopia

Ξ January 10th, 2012 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Chatter, Photography, The Great Outdoors! |

I made these clay acorns for myself this week. I had ordered some felted acorns from an Etsy seller for my sister as part of a Christmas present but they never arrived so I was forced to come up with a solution to the missing link in my “ACORNucopia” gift for her. I had gotten her a mini c cornucopia just to put the acorns in. Always the punster! Well… after stressing and buying several different types of acorn items from Walmart I still wasn’t happy. I knew I had to make them myself. So… out came my ever-so-old stash of unopened Sculpey III clay. I used the dark brown and a Moroccan red for hers. I fell in love with them and was so happy that I decided to make some for my living room… and here they are! I even made one into a charm to put on my new purse.

Christmas kept me very busy this year and wore me out. Hence my extended absence from posting. But now, thankfully, I’m well rested and raring to go and excited about a brand new year in our new home! I’ll be doing various kinds of creative things this year… as you can see… I finished some “Word Birds” which I’ll share with you tomorrow.  I also started a “diary.” Just a journal of thoughts and events that I plan to record in handwriting over the year. The art is dying and I wanted to do something about that. =)

I’ll be back tomorrow to share again… until then! God Bless!

Happy Tuesday

Happy 2sday. I’m a bit unhappy today. Scribefire, the tool I use for making posts on my blog had an update and I can’t figure out how the poop to use it. I HATE updates like this. It says they have redesigned it to make it simpler. NOT. Get real peeps. You did it simply to ruin my day. So I’m blogging from the back door of my WordPress account which is as slow as dial up. (Sorry for the small font size… I can’t figure out how to change it with this bucket of bolts setup.)

Needless to say… because of these frustrations today’s blog post is going to be short and sweet until I can either undo the update or stab my way through it.

My show and tell for today is a harvest! Perfect for the time of year.  This was part of a birthday present many, many moons ago. Each veggie was individual wrapped and packaged in this adorable basket. This is a very detailed bounty and each gem is a work of art… and healthy “candy” for the eye!

I hope to be back tomorrow with a functional tool to blog with. Until then… eat  your veggies!

Happy October

Happy October!

I wanted to share a link today. If you remember back just about before summer started I made a painting for Enzo who had a wish to swim with the dolphins. Well… I’m happy to report that his wish came true and last month he… well… I’ll let his mom tell the story… click here.

She was sweet enough to post the painting I sent Enzo as well. It’s a heartwarming story. I encourage you to add a smile and some tenderness to your day and head over and read it.

With the weather changing I’m turning my gardening focus indoors and tending to my house plants. This is one I picked up at Home Depot over the summer. I love the colors…. very pretty

I’ll be back tomorrow for Psalm Sunday.

Clean as a Whistle

After vacuuming up a house plant that I dumped on the floor the cleaning bug hit me. I love it when that happens. I finally got the desire to clean up really good in my studio. I started by hanging some of my mini paintings above my computer desk. What an impact. Now when one sells I just grab it off the wall and package and mail. Nice.. no looking through my boxes of finished art that I so carefully have stowed in my art closet. This way I’m inspired by works I’ve done and the paintings remind me of materials that I have and haven’t used in a while. Inspiration with a purpose! What could be better.

I put some finishing touches on a painting I’m doing for myself today. I’m now waiting for glue to dry so I can finish the final touches and adhere some hangers. Ooohh! This is going to be delicious! I’ll share this yummy with you tomorrow. Nom!

Another great day today…the weather has been cool and breezy, but no rain to speak of today. I’ll have to head out after dinner and water the flowers. I’ve been very productive today and haven’t taken the time out for tea on the patio. Here’s a few pictures of a few corners of the garden.

Mexican Heather

Penstamon and Gerbera

I don’t have a toy for todays Tuesday’s Toys category. I’ve spent most of the day putting them all away. I’ll share photos of my “clean” studio tomorrow!

God Bless!

They Will be Done

♥ By His Stripes ♥

I have a small collection of crosses on one of my nightstands that is starting to outgrow it’s display surface so I’ll be moving them to hang above my closet door soon… but I wanted to share with you what I have so far before they are up too far to photograph.  There are a few still missing that haven’t been unpacked from a few straggling boxes but this gives you an idea of what I have. There are three rosaries in the glass vase that I will find a way to creatively display either from a set of hooks or draped on the way in one way or another. The small floral cross with the dangling heart ‘was’ a key-chain but the ring broke off. (sad face!)  The cross made from railroad nails used to be on our dogs collar years ago… the other crosses were all gifts except for the cross with the black X on it… which I found at the dollar store and will likely dress up before hanging.  Some of my rosaries aren’t out either, they are still in a box and scattered about.. but these were the ones I had handy when setting up this nightstand.

I imported the photo into Photoshop and added some extra zing to it to make it more fun to look at. I think the butterflies are a good fit since they symbolize a new life. … and that is after all what Christ gave us. Thank you Jesus.

It’s hot again today so the AC is on downstairs, we made an early morning trip to the grocery and my hubs got part of the day off so he’s relaxing in the cool of his man cave room and watching some TV. Dinner tonight will be tuna sammies and potato salad to keep things cool… with lots of iced tea to wash it down. Stay cool if the sun’s blazing in your part of the world and if not… grab a Snuggie!

See you tomorrow with some ATCs. My scanners on strike today or I would have shared them. Unions! Hee. =)

Day of the Dead

Ξ July 27th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Chatter, Jewelry, Whispering Wednesday |

Day of the Dead

I bought this skull tissue paper about two years ago and have only had the opportunity to use it once before. I actually hadn’t planned on going with day of the dead with this but that’s the direction it took… I had a goth idea in mind but flowers started sprouting in eye sockets before I knew what was happening… Wow… I hope my garden does that well next spring after I plant! =)

You can’t tell in the light but the rim is painted with a metallic green paint… aka ~ Nail polish. Since I’ve been doing art all my nails have become ‘tools’ rather than accessories… so I figured why not use the beauty supplies in my mixed media. It adds a nice bit of punch to things… and it comes in SO many colors! Nom!

I’m going to be working on some earrings for a special order this week and have been digging through my jewelry findings and other odds and oddities for ideas. It’s always fun to create something from a request. It breaks down a few creative walls and makes me look at things differently.  I’ll photograph the process and share as I go. I’m also working on a few ATCs and some other yummy art. I started my first BIG canvases too… that’s going to be interesting.. and messy! I think I’m going to need a bigger table top easel… and a lot of drop cloths!

Today’s Whispering Wednesday already so here’s a few sweet nothings about me. =)

  • Every Wednesday~ (Hump Day) my hubs and I race to remember what day it is and we do a firsties email with the picture of a camel.. (for the humps!)  I’m ahead by about 97%
  • I’ve named the downstairs bathroom “The Flower Potty” as I’m decorating it like a garden shed.
  • I’m on a cooking dry-spell… I can’t seem to come up with any novel ideas lately. (and ideas!?)

See you tomorrow with some ATCs and the first steps in my earring project! Have a great evening and let me know what’s for dinner!

Chaos in Pink

Ξ July 26th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Chatter, Supplies/Techniques, Tammy's Toys |

Yes… another Spam can completed. I used text pages for this one. I let my paintbrush lead me on what colors to use. … actually I used a baby wipe for application on this. I used some paper flowers I had in a light blue that I painted turquoise and purple… and the bling in the middle of each flower is literally a “Bling” sticker by Jolee’s. I glued them on as the sticky stuff on the back of the stickers has a tendency to get old and fall off over time. Glitter paint by Martha Stewart is brushed onto the flowers and the rim is painted with purple nail polish… and trimmed with some purple ribbon. And done! These can hold anything! Pencils, pens, any “desk/school” related item. They would also make awesome windowsill planters for herbs or small tabletop planters for nightstands, desks, tables, etc to accent your bedroom, dorm or girl cave. Each one has pretty much created itself so far and I’m working on the forth one today… Think Day of the Dead… Oh yeah! Talk about fun and funky.

Here’s the Chaos in Pink that I’m dealing with today. I have a ton of “little” projects going which makes for more mess than I can deal with. I tried to clean it up yesterday and had part of it done when I got a second wind of creative energy and all the cleanliness just hopped out my window… (that’s what I get for always having my window open!)  I really need to get some of these things wrapped up and taken care of because it’s messing with my brain’s feng shui.  I’ll have to get this cleaned tomorrow for sure… if not this evening. Today’s toy is my hippy headband… This is like a Where’s Waldo picture with cheats… if you look close enough you’ll see the beaded band I put around my hair when it’s driving me nuts and the fan is on blowing it in my eyes.

That’s it for today… I have many irons in the fire today so I need to go check to see if paints and glues are dried so I can move forward again. Until tomorrow! I hope you’re in a beautiful mess too!

Rainy Days and Mondays

Basket of Paintings
Here’s a tiny spot in my studio where I put little art objects… I have a card with a backpack strung from it given to me by my mom… there are two of my paintings and two cards I made recently… also I have a Kelly Rae Roberts magnet that was given to me as well. They all rest on some leaves I pressed… after picking them up from the yard after a wind storm about a month and a half ago. Time is truly spinning by so fast since we’ve moved. I can’t believe it’s nearly August already! Slow…d.o.w.n! I need time to breathe.

I have so many projects going today… I’m working on another Spam can, and some more of the TP treasure pieces and trying to get some semblance of order on my desk. It’s a huge mess today. So much so that I had to stop everything I was doing to put some things away so I could “think.”  Thankfully I don’t have heat clouding my thinking like yesterday… it’s much cooler today! Just the way I like it. I hope this weather holds for a while so I can get some more work done in the yard. I’ll share a few photos of that project soon. For now I’m off to finish my upcycle project and try to get some Etsy write-ups done so I can post tomorrow. =) Until tomorrow… Keep Kreating!
