Yeah, I know the photo’s a bit blurry but it truly was challenging holding the camera with one hand. I adore the color and will be using it frequently. It’s super neutral, therefore it’s really wearable and versatile with the truly wardrobe which is presently hoodies and yoga pants. I’m not at my goal weight yet so I’m holding my birthday/Christmas cash and gift cards till mid to late spring for my first “Skinny again shopping adventure.”
Today we went window shopping in Lowe’s and my DH bought me an adorable lamp for my nightstand. I LOVE it and will share soon. I’m redoing my bedroom in a shabby chic French theme so I’ll be busy with little projects to keep my mind off my woes.
Drop in tomorrow to discover what my achievement of the week is!
I mucked up my manicure yesterday so I’m having to redo it. I thought I’d take a before picture with just a clear base on. But first I have to make a grocery list and then hit the store. It’s more than likely I won’t get my manicure done till later tonight or tomorrow. I will share though.
I’m happy to report that I’ve finally got an appointment with a Rheumatologist for January 30. Now the wait begins. And lots of prayer for the doctor.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading to keep my mind off my health issues and I just finished The Home last night by Scott Nicholson it’s my first read by Scott and I’m looking into reading a few more of his thrillers… That is after I finish a novella by Suzy Turner titled Daisy Madigan’s Paradise. You gotta love the kindle store… so many free and inexpensive books!
See you tomorrow with a splash of color on the tips of me fingers!
Happy January and Happy New Year. It’s been a bit since I’ve been around here to chat. I’ve not been feeling all that great lately so I haven’t been creating. I’m feeling much like this puzzle that I spent the last week putting together… I’ve had more down days than I care to admit. I went to my new GP yesterday and am so happy to report that he’s absolutely awesome and he’s referring me to a Rheumatologist. He thinks I may have a connective tissue disease. I’ll keep you posted when I get my referral appointment.
Things we know…
- Raynaud’s Disease
- Peripheral Neuropathy
- Edema around the eyes
- Reoccurring Rashes
These are the visible symptoms. The rest… we won’t get into.
Today my creative endeavor is my nails! I bought a new shade of Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri and I’m going to go paint… at least I have a mini project to satisfy myself with for a short time. I’ll post a picture for you tomorrow and I’ll try to do better at keeping you up to date on what the haps are here. Until tomorrow…
God Bless You!
You may wonder where I’ve been lately. Me too! I’ve been under the weather for quite some time and finally went to the doctor to find out what the haps is with my body. I’ve been having crazy symptoms… everything from dizziness to severe pain in my neck, shoulders, legs, and twitching in my toes. I’m always cold and I can’t concentrate to save my life. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
I went to the doc for my physical that I missed last year and told the doc about my symptoms, my blood work came back fine, my mammogram and pap smear where all good.. next we did an MRI on my head. It came back clear as well. So we tried something for dizziness… a week later I’m back at the docs feeling even worse. By then my toes were twitching and my feet were blue. So next stop is a Neurologist. You know how the medical field is… Hurry up and wait. I set my appointment and it gets moved to the following week as the doctor gets the flu. So waiting, wait, wait,
Finally last week I saw the neuro doc and he does all the usual physical tests on my to see if my muscles are working correctly with my nerves and my brain. I passed this test. Next… more blood work.
I have impossible veins for some reason. I have been poked so many times and they can’t seem to find a way in. So I always request a butterfly needle in my hand. It’s easier for everyone in the long run and I walk out with less bruises. They ended up using both hands last Friday as after one hand gave a tube of blood it called it quits. I now have nice big round bruises on the fronts of both of my hands. At least I match!
Now I’m waiting for a call from the doc… and I’m feeling worse. I ache all over. I can’t tolerate the cold, I’m turning blue and white from it. I think they think it’s rheumatoid arthritis with Raynaud’s disease, but I think it’s hypothyroidism with Raynaud’s disease.
As usual when going to a doctor, when you have a history of depression and panic/anxiety they tend to write off symptoms that might be related to the following as … “all in your head”… but I know my body… and I know I’m sick.
If you’re a praying person I’d appreciate if you send one up on my behalf for a swift diagnosis so I can get on the mend asap!
Thanks for listening… I’ll be back tomorrow with the final commission piece I finally finished! Thank God for the extended deadline on this project!
Just a post on face art supplies today. I’ve been needing a few new toys to play with on my face so I bought this blush and bronzer/blush from Hard Candy. I also picked up a few lip treats and polishes. These insta-dry polish by Sally Hanson rock! They really dry instantly. And of course more nail/cuticle cream.
This is my birthday present to myself. I bought all of this for just over $20 from E.F.L. and their mega black Friday sale online. I’m pretty well set on makeup now. I have all the needs and some of the wants. This should last a good long while. My makeup basket is getting near to full.
Today I’m working on the last painting for the commission I’ve been working on. Paint, let paint dry, paint some more… rinse and repeat.
I’ll share a picture when I’m done… for now I’m off to gather the perfect twig to make a miniature fishing pole!
Although a bit dinged up on this close up… in real life they still look fresh on day three of my manicure. I bought this new polish last week and love the trendy autumn color. It’s Wet n’ Wild – Wet Cement. Love the durability, the professional/wide brush, and the neutral color. The drying time was a bit longer than most polishes which is a bummer but cold water helps set your nails in a pinch. Top it off with a top coat and you’re ready to go!.
I’ll share some of my art projects soon… at the moment they are in progress on my desk. Drop by again soon to see what else is bloomin’ in my artful jungle.
Here’s the manicure I rocked for Halloween and for passing out candy to the wee ones… and the not-so-wee ones. We had half the amount of goblins at our door this year and we were more than prepared. Last year I gave out 4 bags of candy. In anticipation for a rush on treats I stocked up on 4 bags plus a super bag, which is the equivalent of about 3 bags. Now there is a large basket sitting in the entryway that smells vaguely of wrappings and chocolate. I’m sure it will get eaten though.
For this manicure I used a triangle shaped makeup sponge and dabbed on Sally Hanson Insta-Dri in Lickety-Split Lime in several coats. I used Stickles glitter glue from my art stash and my fingertip to apply the Lime Green glitter. After the glitter was dry I added to thin layers of clear top coat to keep the glitter in place and protect the manicure.
Today is clean-the-studio day… eww! My brain is fogged over from the clutter so I’m off to put things in order so I can start my next project! See you later alligator!
I love crayons… that’s simply the only reason for this ATC. The color, the smell, the memories, and oh the possibilities… Like everything in life. It’s all about attitude, ideas, and what we put our mind to! Like finding a cure for breast cancer… and making childlike posters in support of the effort. Amen sisters!
I did my shopping today and again hit Walmart… nothing exciting to report this week, unless you count L’OREAL BB Cream. I bought my first one after several months of struggling with a foundation as thick as plaster. Even though I managed to figure out a few techniques to work with the foundation… I truly think it’s application success depends on the humidity in the air. Bleh…. so tomorrow I’m going to try this new beauty product and I’ll give you my feedback.
Also… I picked up a few things in the sample isle… one of my favorite places for a chance to try new products for a largely reduced price. Today’s find is St. Ives Apricot Facial Scrub. I used this stuff epochs and eons ago and thought… why not. I’ll try it again.. especially when it’s practically free.
The rest is super boring and mundane but very needed… I will tell you that there truly is NO substitute for THIS product though…
That’s it for today… Tomorrow starts the countdown on ONE hand of how many days are left in my BCA Month series… so remember to check it out.
Have a great Friday night and have one for me!
After playing with this layout for a few days and getting nowhere… I finally got an idea and am ready to move forward. After making fabric flowers and a few other goodies that I fully intended to use on this piece… I’m storing them away and going with a different route. I’m happy with my decision and should have this painting/collage done by the weeks end. I’m not sure if I was combatting artist block or if this painting was just being rebellious until it got what it wanted. I’d like to think the latter.
I’m looking into these… This whole losing weight thing as inspired the girly-girl inside me. Someone who’s been hibernating for the past 8+ years in a cocoon. I’m no longer using alligator clips to pull my disheveled hair up onto the top of my head… I’m actually flat ironing it each day and trying my best to look like me again. The clouds are lifting… get your sunglasses peeps… I’m gonna shine bright! =)

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions… and so was my bedside drawer. I truly had intentions of keeping it clean, organized and NOT to turn it into a hot mess. That was an EPIC fail!
I had the urge to “get it together” this past week and worked on an organizational system that would fit “me.”
I grabbed an empty egg carton and some tin cans and set to work.
Pretty enough for a desk top… I spray painted the egg carton pink and set about to make it pretty. Using vintage pink ric rac I glued it down around the edge and grabbed a used dryer sheet and made a yo-yo with it. Then I sprayed the yo-yo with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist. I topped it with an up-cycled button and topped it with some texture medium… along with the edges of the flower. I added some cut paper leaves, some pearls, and a bit of metallic embroidery thread and glued them to the corner. Wa-Lah! Useful garbage.
And now the reveal…
Ta Da! Everything I need first thing in the morning and/or last thing at night. And nice and clean. I used pink tissue paper to light the bottom of the drawer then added some non-skid white mesh… you can see the pink peeking through with adds to all the pink of the cans and containers. I even spray painted the basket that I was using before. I feel calmer inside knowing that one of the “messes” I see daily is now history. Next up… the other nightstand drawer… and here’s a head start…
I left some of the torn up paper on when I painted these as I knew I’d be adding texture to them anyway. I’ll tackle these next week.
Have a great Friday and a happy weekend. And I’ll be back next week… It’s time for me to go catch a frog. O.o –(you’ll see….)
