Happy Hump Day ~ Today I’m making a pot roast for dinner with big chunks of potatoes, onions and a mustard/sour cream sauce to go with. It’s certain to be a hit! (… I hope…) Tomorrow I’m making some spicy Chinese peanut low mien. Planning a bit in advance helps me to organize my time better and not stress if I’ve overspend my time painting. If you have some hit recipes to share, please link them in a comment! Also, please post your current projects as well. I’d love to visit your blogs!

Queen of Cake

Last week while watching the Will Work for Food on Food Network with my hubby we learned all about the job of a Wine Angel. I was really intrigued as I’d never seen anything like it before. I was prompted by this to paint my own version of a wine angel and here’s what I came up with.

She’s woodburned on to birch wood and topped off with the use of rubberstamps, tissue paper, copper leafing, melted crayons, gel pens, embellishments, acrylic paint, ink, watercolors pencils, and digital text. She was a lot of fun and a bit challenging as I bought this tissue paper a few days before starting her and was eager to use it. As with the Merlot Maid, the colors of the collaging paper I chose dictated what I would be using on the rest of the painting. I’m happy with her as I got to dabble with colors I don’t normally use, mainly orange. I’ve started a ladybug painting which I will be playing with this week as I work on Valentine love on the side. Wish me luck!
I’m making Vin Chaud tonight! And I’m very excited about it. I’ve been wanting to make this all winter to keep us warm on a cozy evening under blankets with candles aglow and a good movie going. I got the idea on a cooking show before the holidays and was doubly inspired by Deezden post about her version of this mulled-spiced wine. I bought a nice rich cabernet and some brandy to boost the warming effect of this treat. I’ll post my recipe for it after the fact as I’ll be making my own version based on what yummy spices I have in my treasured spice cabinet! ~ Flavor makes the world go round. Until then, here’s a bit of knowledge about this sipping success! I do believe this is my first “Fun with Food” post on my blog, … that is unless you count the “accidental art” with the flower shaped cutting board. Heh! Tomorrow, more art will be up, I’m working on a “Flower Child” which I’m doing on bristol board. I miss the wood surface, but change inspires growth. So until later!… think warm thoughts. =

Or if you prefer to put a small wattage light bulb in we can always make “Lamp~Art” Heh!

What fun huh? You can get your cutting boards for the impromptu project at Fred Meyers! Let me know about your “accidental art!” =) Happy Monday!
Avante Garde Oven Sculpture ~ No I’m not into oven art, or sculpture as of yet. This was purely by accident and I’ll share it before the weekends over. It’s what happens when you “accidentally put a small flower shaped cutting board into the oven that somehow got stuck to the bottom of a cookies sheet. Art by accident ~ coming your way soon. Heh!
At last! I’ve completed my piece for Inspire Me Thursday. I had a blast punning this up. Wacky stuff indeed. She’s such a kernel I had to share her. This is done with and inked background using a sea sponge, and a square rubberstamp. Cornelia was drawn first and I used regular colored pencils to color her in. The corn class at the bottom is digital printouts I painstakingly cut out using scissors and an exacto knife. Now I’m off to have some cornbread or corn fritters or corn on the cob, this piece made me hungry! Enjoy and let me know what you think! I’ll be working on my Christian journals the rest of this week. (After a much needed nap!)

Made for Make it Mondays. No diets were harmed in the making of this artwork. This was an interesting challenge as I do have some decedent chocolates in the cupboard and wasn’t going to cheat on my diet to get at the lovely wrappers. Instead I went through piles of old goodies and found the wrappers from THESE wonderful treats. Oh the memories! =)
I also had the wrapper from a natural dark chocolate bar and glued it along with some flower power paper in dark cocoa down for a base. I added the anime’ bon bon babe to top off the piece and add cuteness. She was so fun to draw and paint. Tada! Here’s the finished dessert!
