Love Shack

Ξ September 20th, 2011 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, For The Kingdom, Fun with Food, Photography, Tammy's Toys, The Healing Garden |

This is what I’m playing with today. It’s called…”Love Shack.” I have a few fun ideas that will go into finishing this canvas panel which I’ll have done by the end of the week. I’m also working on a few paintings that got set aside before the move. It’s fun looking at them from a different location as my creativity has grown a lot since moving.

Here’s today 2sday’s toy!

Key-chain bling! I love stuff like this. Useless eye candy really… until it makes it’s way into a journal or a painting that is! Until then it’s fun to have a little toy to finger when I get fidgety! And speaking of candy… well food anyway. Last night I made cabbage rolls for dinner before they hit the plate I snagged a photo to share with you. Nom!

Tonights menu: Baked Sweet Potatoes and Pan Seared Parm Chicken! I’m getting hungry just thinking about it… Time to prep some food! See you tomorrow =) Peace ~~ Out!

Works in Progress

I haven’t forgotten about you! I know I haven’t posted in a quite a while… especially for me but I’ve been up to my neck in this-n-that.
I’ve finished the commission that I’ve been working on and I’ve also been doing quite a few other things that I’ve been needing to get done… not to mention working around the house and yard. I was also hit with a touch to much of depression so I haven’t had positive things to say and didn’t want to share doom and gloom with you. No one likes to hear complainers aye!?

Here’s a beautiful mess on my desk I’m playing with today. I’m working on Psalms and will have Psalm 9 ready for Sunday of this week.  I also started a new canvas painting that I’ll show you tomorrow.

I spent some time reading recipes to find something creative for dinner guests that canceled but I made the recipe anyway…. as you can see from the plate, someone…. went back for seconds!

Cupcake Lasagna!

… and they were really, really good!

Psalm Sunday

Psalm 8

We’re now all the way up to week eight on our Psalms. We’ve got quite a long way to go. Good thing we have lots of time!

Earlier this week my mom gave me a zucchini to make bread with as it was a bit larger than we like for sauteeing and stir frying. Instead of baking bread I decided yesterday to make zucchini fitters with it. Here’s my process in pictures.

First I grated the zucchini and ended up with a little over 2 cups worth.

Next I used my baby food processor and crushed half a stack of Ritz crackers which made approximately a cup.

Gotta have some cheese! I shredded about a cups worth. I don’t measure when I cook. I cook by site and taste.  I added all these ingredients in a bowl along with 2 eggs and salt, pepper, fresh chopped parsley, onion powder and garlic powder. Then I used a pad a butter along with a drizzle of olive oil in a hot pan and let them cook till the eggs were set … then flipped them over and continued cooking. I put the finished fritters on some nonstick foil and popped them in the oven on warm to keep them toasty for when the fish was cooked.

They were melt in your mouth delicious and we ate the ALL! We had them with some yummy healthy fish cooked in olive oil.

It was a fantastic meal and nice and light.  I’ll see you back tomorrow for more fun with creating. God Bless You!

Flowers In Her Hair

Flowers In Her Hair

I finished this little ditty last night. I used embossed collage paper for her dress and painted over the embossing with colors to go with the flowers in her hair. I also used a lot of glitter glaze on the dots and circles on this painting but my scanner didn’t pick up the yumminess. I’ll post her on Etsy tomorrow when I have a bit more time. I’m getting ready to dash downstairs to make dinner.

The commission is almost done and at the moment it’s drying. I’ll snap a photo for you later and let you see how it’s coming along. I should be done with it tomorrow and be able to get it in the mail on Friday … hopefully!

Whispering Wednesday

  • Dinner tonight is courtesy of Bisquick! (I actually had all the frozen ingredients for this.)
  • I listened to a documentary on Goebbels while painting today. What a creepy guy!
  • I joined Pinterest.com this past week… awesome website! Join me.

Time to cook! Catch you on the flip-side of dinner

A Visit from Hooper

Ξ August 20th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, For The Kingdom, Fun with Food, Photography, The Great Outdoors! |

He’s there somewhere… See if you can find where Hooper’s hiding. Hooper is the name of the squirrel who frequents our back yard…not to mention our Oak tree! While your hunting for Hooper you can get a glimpse of a bit of my gardening efforts thus far. Yes, that’s a lot of just plain old dirt out there…but picture it looking more like ‘this!’

Ewwww…Right?! So yeah… I’m making progress. Each week I hit the garden spot at the local grocery on my way in and pick up something I know I’ll want in my garden. I’m aiming on attracting birds, hummingbirds, and butterflies and I’ve read up on what flowers would work best…  the one’s I’ve bought in the past few weeks hit the mark!

If you haven’t yet found Hooper here’s a cameo appearance of him finding the sunflower seeds I put on the top of the fence for him… I knew he’d have to stop and nibble and had my camera ready!

This is taken with zoom style so, no, Sushi Train isn’t really that close to my back door… but I don’t think I’d complain if it were. It’s very yummy!

Come back tomorrow for more peeks at my garden and week six of Psalm Sunday!

Want to Paint Mon Cheri?

Ξ July 29th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, ATC, Fun with Food, Photography |

Look who showed up outside my studio window! He’s ready and willing to paint AND he brought his own supplies. What could be better. Let’s get some paint on those feet and walk em across a canvas. He even sits next to his lunch. Nom! I wish I were tall enough to grab a few of those acorns. =)

Yesterday I finished two ATCs with my Poppy theme. Here’s the first one…  You’ll see the second one tomorrow.

I’m calling this one Poppin’ Purple Poppy.  I tried to scan this yesterday and came across some glitches in my system… so my hubs fixed it last night and it scanned fairly fine. I ‘should’ have saved it then. Instead, because I was very tired I waited till this morning to scan and now I can’t get my printer/scanner to scan AT all. Sheesh. Union scanners… Grrrr! I don’t know what’s wrong. We had a brief power outage and now everything wants a raise to be reset. We’re even having Internet issues. ~ Extremely low bandwidth… so I have to wait around for the tech to come today to check out the issues. Bleh!  The good thing is it’s cloudy and cool today. Yeah… you know me.. I’m *the sunshine is evil kind of gal*. I might change my mind next summer when I have a full fledged garden growing.

I bought Tuna steaks yesterday at Winco for dinner tonight. Nom! I’m debating between a salad or wild rice pilaf to go with. I’ll probably go with the salad so the hubs won’t feel bad about ice cream for dessert! That reminds me… I need to stick some of my yogurt in the freeze so I can have an ice dessert as well. =) I’ll save the wild rice pilaf for next week when I cook the Swai fish I bought. They say it’s the new Tilapia, and extremely affordable, so buy it while you can. I’m buying it vacuum packed and stocking up! NOM!

Speaking of fish….
I’ll *catch* up with you tomorrow with a fixed scanner… I pray! God Bless until then… and think…*Mocha!*

Happy Monday

Poppy Love

Here’s another ATC that will be going up in my Etsy shop this week. This was exceptionally fun because I adore this color combination! I started another one this morning and I’m waiting for Mod Podge to dry so I thought I’d drop by and share this. These flowers are SO much fun and so very flexible that you can make just about any color combination, use so many different mediums and experiment with new ideas.  Today is going to be a busy one. I have some things to do around the house… The vision clinic called last Friday to let me know my glasses were in… what they failed to tell me was that they close early on Friday’s so it was too late by the time I got there. I’ve been waiting all weekend yet again for new eyes and today I finally get them. I’m praying they did a better job on the bifocal line this time around. I also have to take a shower rod back to Walmart and pick up a few things needed around the house… then I have some shelf painting to do and some photos to take… and dinner to tackle.

Tonight we’re having Jambalaya … we had the ingredients so I figured why not! It’s a good way to celebrate a Monday and get the week off with a much needed “kick!”

Check back tomorrow for some pictures of my home improvement projects I’ve been working on! I have lots to share.

Oh Yes We Spam… …

Ξ June 28th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Fun with Food, Photography, Tammy's Toys |

Spamtastic
We’ve been going through a plethora of Spam lately as our resident student seems to be going through a new “taste” phase. I’ve also been using it for Sunday breakfast on occasion. For a while I was just tossing the cans out and then it hit me…. STOP it! These are perfect for TONS of things. Just get your creative energy going girl and get busy spamming the Spam with collage papers, paints, and pretties! So here we are. The first of many cans that will be transformed from a sow’s ear to a silk purse… or rather a cool can!  This one is started off with vintage sheet music and the song is called Jealous Heart… how cool is that!? Perfect for some hearts and chicky colors. I’m digging through all of my supplies to fit this perfectly so it turns out fabulous. I’m using black nail polish on the gold rim around the top after taping it off with painters tape. This is actually a very fun project and I have a pantry of cans ready and waiting for when this one gets it’s final touches.  Hopefully tomorrow this lil gem will be complete and I’ll share it with you.

Until then however it’s 2sday again and time for 2sday’s Toys! Today I’m featuring Pan! Out of the frying pan with the Spam and in comes Peter Pan! This is a ballpoint pen topper that actually lights up when you write with the pen. It’s an adorable desk decoration at them moment that sits among my paint brushes.  I love this little guy and his fancy feather! Speaking of Pan if you haven’t seen Finding Neverland you really must! It’s an adorable movie.

See you soon…. I’m off to get some paint and glue all over my hands! Happy Creating!

Peace That Passes Understanding

   Work In Progress

Here’s my latest project. I wood-burned this over the weekend and will start playing with it today. I’ve already picked my color scheme and I’m pretty excited about it as it’s not one I’ve used before. I’m going to let it be a surprise. =) Keep checking back to find out what I do with this panel!

The weekend was very relaxing and I spent my time reading and napping. I finished Lone Survivor and absolutely loved the book. You walk away feeling like you know the author. I then started Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas which is a longer more in-depth book but I’ve really been wanting to read it so I’m excited to finally have it.  I’ve downloaded a plethora of samples from Amazon for over a dozen books… they will keep my busy once I’ve finished with Bonhoeffer.  The Kindle is great as you can get puzzles for free to relax with while you couch surf TV. I like my Kindle a lot more than I thought I would. It’s really a fantastic device.

Tonight I’m fixing a pork roast for dinner. It’s huge so I’ll have left overs to make pork lo mein for tomorrows dinner. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it… I think it’s time to grab a bit of lunch to hold me over till dinner! See you tomorrow for 2sdays Toys!  For now I’m off for Nom Nom!

Fox in Socks

Ξ June 10th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Around The House, Art-tastic, Chatter, Fun with Food, Photography |

I’ve been needing socks for quite some time and we went over to get my picture snapped for my Costco card today and this is one of the goodies I ninja’d into the cart. I also picked up a magazine… hey at 30% off the retail store prices I figured I was overdue for an art magazine. It’s called “take ten” made by Stampers Sampler and it’s new to me but I thought it was time to take a look  at a new publication to see how I liked it. I haven’t curdled up an artsy mag for quite some time and it sounds like a fun idea for after my shower tonight.

I spend the morning working on a ton of Tiny Tiles as you can see!

These are the backs of the wee wonderments and I’ll reveal the fronts when they are all done. I had to break to make lunch for my hubs and one of his co-workers as they had a half day and his buddy came over for a visit and to talk “gardening” which nearly instantly turned to shop talk and bored me till my eyes bled… thankfully my hair covers my ears these days. So much for learning anything from a former landscaper. These days everyones talking tech or twittering things that should stay in their pants. But I digress.
I just now finished doing the majority of the prep work for our dinner tomorrow with my sis and her hubs, this will be the first time she’s seen our house so I’m really excited. I decided to make Chicken Cordon Bleu and that was a bit of an undertaking beating up five large chicken breasts, stuffing them with prosciutto and cheese and trying to roll them up without the aid of toothpicks…something I forgot to buy. I used plastic wrap instead and rolled em up as tight as I could… popped them in the fridge and made the bread crumb/flour mixer for tomorrow, I had a helper with cleaning the green beans (thanks Ben!)  and I’ve already par-boiled them and have them ready for lemon butter and slivered almonds as a side dish. All that cooking I did and I’m not the least bit hungry and I STILL have to cook dinner for tonight. I think I’ll fix the guys something quick and easy and just have some soup if/when I get hungry later. The harder I work the less hungry I am. I am however wanting to take a shower which will have to wait till after the crew of two is fed.

Check back tomorrow, I just “might” have time to finish my Tiny Tiles and share some of the ideas I’ve come up with for uses for them. Until then… Bon Appetit!
