I got a new printer for my birthday and I’ve been playing with it and tweaking my art photos in Photoshop. I’m waiting on some software and some paper but I have managed to come up with some prints that I can sell now. This is from an original painting. It’s a great way to add to your art collection on a budget and something I’ve really been wanting to do for quite some time. I plan on a line of greeting cards, bookmarks, postcards along with the prints. I’m also going to be posting some magnets tomorrow on my Etsy. Today’s posting is my “Draw Back Your Bow” print. This was inspired by a doodle I did in a notebook late one night while watching TV. I tried a different color combination from what I normally do. I stayed away from pink. Yes.. it was brutal! I recently bought some Azure Blue paint and used it as the base coat color. Red and turquoise blues go so well together that I instantly grabbed for my red paint. I used Chrome Nail Polish to paint the three keys. I used stickers, and stamps, metal punched hearts, book pages, rhinestones, and texture paste for creating this painting. It’s kind of a pretty little mess. This painting actually came together rather fast. The thing that took the longest was waiting for the texture paste to dry. With a pale green background of vines and leaves Princess Kitty and her owner are happily enjoying their garden. Flowers of pink and black abound as Princess Kitty sits atop her big fluffy flower petal stool. She’s quite the whimsical kitty with her own personality. With swirls of dark black over her soft black coat she stands out no matter where she goes. She and her owner are both topped with crowns and rhinestone flowers. It’s just another day in Kitty – Cat paradise! Happy Monday and I hope everyone has somewhere to go for Thanksgiving and has a lot to be thankful for. *Golden Geisha*
I did this painting over the weekend. This Geisha is decked out in purple and black with golden ribbons laced through her hair. The gold heart it made from metal and stamped with 3 layers of embossing powder. The small golden hearts are cut from candy wrappers. Her face actually has a bit more color than shows up here. She is however fair skinned, she is a Geisha after all. She’s out in her hanging garden dreaming of her destiny. This was so much fun to create. I’m working on 2 others at the moment and one is nearly done. I’ll be going to my parents tomorrow and will be returning on Friday so I’ll be out of town for a few days. When I get back I’ll share my adventure with you.
Every artist’s dream. Watercolors in the rain. Drips and drops of luscious color streaking over papers and creating art done by God. Pure perfection. With vase in hand to capture the colors of the rain and to pose pencils in Frida’s getting ready to get down to canvas! From paper sacks to foil origami paper this painting is a mish-mash of this n’ that. Glitters, paints, papers, embellishments, and Frida brows! Just another adventure that’s leaping off the easel this week. Today ~ some shopping, some arting, some movies, and later … some wine ~ which is the perfect way to end any day. =) Until the next creation is ready for presentation! God Bless You
Here she is in all her golden glory. Decked out in pink and with flowers breezing by she’s ready for her country garden. Using a plethora of mediums I first started by sketching and woodburning Marie onto birch wood. My second process is always shading the faces. Once I have that 3/4 of the way finished I start the messy creative process… of which I almost always have no clue where it will lead me. For her dress I used the idea of mosiacing and layering as I did with the background for *Gold and Lace.* Once I had that done I painted the background the rest of the painting Spring Green. I then began my collaging. Leafs here, flowers, there. On this piece if you look deep enough on the left side of the canvas… especially near the bottom you should be able to spot some paper lace beneath the many layers. Over the top of that I did some painting and collaging and used pearlized crayola crayons and my quilting iron. I dripped white and pink and blended them together. Near the top of the piece I used a lacey/floral pink tissue paper to tone down some of the wax and and more texture. I always crinkle my papers before using them so they add more interest. With the flowers, hearts, leaves, and gold leafing she looks pretty dressed up. I added bits of this and that to add finishing touches, including using texture paste for her hair and rubbing it with pink chalk after the paint was dry. Before I finish a painting off I use a fleshtone paint mixed with glaze to soften her skin. After a few coats of that I add some pink chalk to her cheeks and blend it in. And to top off her makeup I add black charcoal and blend it around her eyes. I think she turned out sweet. See ya … I’m gonna go eat cake!
Special Delivery is layered with paints, and collaging. I used Valentine napkins for the red hearts on the right, and added some tissue paper, rubberstamping, gold leafing, and some delicious teeny tiny heart stickers I just picked up. The heart she is presenting is collaged using pink tissue, and painted several times with 3 different colors of paints. It’s rubbed with gold paint and topped with XO, gold leafing, and teensy red rhinestones. Her dress and hat are collaged with some Christmas Kleenex I picked up last year. This just shows you have versatile mixed media is. It’s only as limited as your imagination. So let yourself soar! Step out of the “art” box and dig through your junk mail, your kitchen, and even your make up bag! She turned out bright and cheerful and who doesn’t want a special delivery of LOVE? Happy Monday. I have 5 or 6 different paintings on my desk at the moment and some ATC’s in the planning. I have quite a bit to do this week but as always Monday’s are super slow for me. It takes me a while to get back into the swing of my weekly routine after a weekend. Plus I woke up yesterday with a soar throat and fever so this Monday is especially sluggish.
