I’m back to art journaling again. Christmas prep was super hectic this year and I used my journal as a relaxation tool. I randomly pasted down scraps of decorative napkins and papers and then doodled and painted what I saw. This was a fun flower in the depths of winter that brightened both my day and my mood. It was soothing to just doodle and glob paint where I saw fit.

Today I’m working on a composition for a painting I got the idea for yesterday.

Super fun. I can’t wait to pick papers and colors and scraps and goodies and bling and… and… and… This promises to be a joyful experience for me. I’ll share it with you as I journey down this villages path. Come back tomorrow to see if anyone home in there.

I’m busy in my studio this morning… bright and early! We had a snow storm over night and I was up at the crack of dawn to see the results… check out some of the pics after you grab a cup of hot cocoa!

I just finished these Spam cans today. I added hangers on the backs and will be hanging them in my “Flower Potty” downstairs. The bathroom is very small and has no real storage for odds and ends one might wish to use when washing up. I’m going to use these to hold such sundries. One I may use to put some dried green grasses in as the theme of the room is done in a potting shed style. Fun and Whimsical. I’ve ended up using several shades of orange in there so these should go great. And since it’s snowing this week…

I’ll have plenty of time throughout the rest of the week for more creating. I promise I’ll be back tomorrow with some Accidental Art that I created last night… along with a collage painting I’m toying with! See you then… and stay toasty warm!

I saw something very similar these “Word Birds” in the most recent edition of Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine and I knew instantly that I had to make these precious tweeters. I used recycled cardboard from Coke Zero boxes. (My morning crutch…) I love a boost of cold, caffeinated carbonation in the morning. Very unhealthy indeed, but it does the job while the coffee perks.

These are covered with decorative tissue papers and paper napkins. Then I embellished them with oodles of ephemera and bling… adding fishing line to hang them with and stringing some beads as well for a boost of shimmer and color. I hung them in my studio window for inspiration and the occasional grin they give me. I love how they swing in the breeze of a slightly open window or on colder days… the soft breath of the forced air heater. Super fun… Super easy, and super cute! I encourage you to make some tweetie birds for yourself!

I made these clay acorns for myself this week. I had ordered some felted acorns from an Etsy seller for my sister as part of a Christmas present but they never arrived so I was forced to come up with a solution to the missing link in my “ACORNucopia” gift for her. I had gotten her a mini c cornucopia just to put the acorns in. Always the punster! Well… after stressing and buying several different types of acorn items from Walmart I still wasn’t happy. I knew I had to make them myself. So… out came my ever-so-old stash of unopened Sculpey III clay. I used the dark brown and a Moroccan red for hers. I fell in love with them and was so happy that I decided to make some for my living room… and here they are! I even made one into a charm to put on my new purse.

Christmas kept me very busy this year and wore me out. Hence my extended absence from posting. But now, thankfully, I’m well rested and raring to go and excited about a brand new year in our new home! I’ll be doing various kinds of creative things this year… as you can see… I finished some “Word Birds” which I’ll share with you tomorrow. I also started a “diary.” Just a journal of thoughts and events that I plan to record in handwriting over the year. The art is dying and I wanted to do something about that. =)

I’ll be back tomorrow to share again… until then! God Bless!

Here’s my mini tree close up. I added some yummy to it over the weekend. I’m busy, busy, busy today creating Christmas goodness for loved ones and family. I’ll share some of what I can with you later this week. I have one more item to work on today and then tomorrow I’m going to make my own Christmas tags similar to the ones I made for my aunt. I think it will be a fun project… and I can do my cutting in front of the TV in the evening while relaxing.

I’m also working on a garage door opener holder for my purse. I keep bumping the opener and accidentally opening the door with my purse so thanks to an idea that my hubs came up with I’m creating something “cute” to keep my opener in. I’m doing much up-cycling this year for sure!
I’ll share it with you tomorrow as it’s drying right now between coats of paints…. and such!

Hooper, our neighborhood squirrel stopped by quite frequently this past weekend to visit and nibble while I was sitting at the back window reading. I snapped his picture to share with you. The yard has been extremely active this pre-winter. It’s alive with Goldfinches, House Finches, Chickadees, Nuthatches, Doves, Starlings, and Flickers… And I’m enjoying them all so much! I’ll share pictures am often as possible…

Until tomorrow and some pictures of art… God Bless!

After a week of extreme wind storms all thats left on the Maple tree outside the landing window are two gorgeous gems that God painted extremely more radiant than the rest of the tree. I have been enjoying these two leaves for weeks as they’ve been bursting ever brighter with vibrant color. To me they are a special gift from God letting me enjoy autumn even more. Each time I climb the stairs I pause a moment and enjoy them.

Aren’t they just beautiful? What a joyful thing… two tiny leaves clinging tightly together to hang on as long as possible to the beauty that is Fall.

I’ve been busy with things around the house. Thanksgiving was my birthday, our car died… literally. We had to buy something new. We went out of town for the day on Turkey day for dinner… we bought our Christmas tree and ornaments over the weekend and I’ve been decorating for Christmas this week. It’s wonderful not to decorate the same way as I had to the past 6 years in our rented home. Tomorrow I will show you my Christmas tree that I put in my studio. It’s absolutely adorable. For now I’m off to work on Christmas gifts and use up some of my creative energy. I’ll share SOON! Have an awesome Wednesday and keep the faith.

Mom’s greenhouse is like falling into the looking glass. A lot of what she does in her experimental lab is to grow things that would not have been grown otherwise. The cactus at the top is a lethal weapon! The hens and chicks come back from the dead in the middle photo and the bottom picture is an amazement all it’s own. The cluster of web-like cacti looks amazing…. yet when mom put just a few in a different pot… this was the result….

It’s like two different plants! I LOVE plants. There was a time in my life when I had well over 150 healthy house plants. I was going to grab a few of these little websters for my own indoor garden but I’ll have to do it next visit. When we were house hunting we came across a home that was ideal! It had gorgeous hardwood floors… and we aren’t talking laminate. It had an extra potty in the garage with a pencil sharpener in it… I thought that was awesome. AND it had a green house. Sadly the house was just a bit too small for us. But I still think about it. And I long for a greenhouse in heaven!

I dare to be different… just ask those who know me!

I dug out my journal for some playtime and had a great time with some brand new collage papers my mom bought me along with pastel pencils. Oooo-la-la! What fun. It’s going to be fun to fill this journal. I think my next entry is going to be bursting with fall colors….. and here’s why…

This is the view from my studio window. The Oak tree across the street is the first to turn this fall… it’s framed by green so it really stands out and says… “Look at me!” It really is quite vibrant, especially in the sun. I’m playing in Photoshop today trying to convert some of my scanned paintings into ACEOs for selling. The program is giving me a rough time so I thought I’d break and drop in here to chat it up a bit.

Halloween was a huge success. We had 48 trick-or-treaters. That’s a record high for me. I didn’t get any before moving here and I was very well prepared. I bought four bags of candy… there are a few fun sized bags of M & Ms left for household tricksters. There were some really cute customs and kiddos. One that sticks out was a tiny little boy dressed as a fireman. He was no bigger than a minute and uber shy! We had a baby in a stroller who slept through the whole thing while his proud parents took him around on his first Hallows Eve. The funniest was a group of three boys around the age of 12 they were dressed identically as Urkel and they acted the part. Super funny.

It’s Tuesday again and time for my show and tell. Here’s this weeks toy.

The bears name is Bartholomew he was given to me by my mom after I destroyed the bear given to me by icky bad evil ex-boyfriend. I needed a fresh start and Barty here smells like potpourri so he’s far from icky. I decked him out in some rain gear for the fall season. If you know Washington state – you know how much rain we get here… Barty will be safe from the weather this winter…and he’s looking very stylish while doing so!

Until tomorrow. Stay high and dry!

And finally! It’s Friday. Spring is far from us but I just had to share number three in my Seasons Series. Today I’m playing a bit with Summer. Think flowers and yellow. I likely won’t have it done today but I will share it next week. Can you believe it’s almost November!? Me either. ~ ♪ ♫♪ ♫ ♪~ Slow down we’re moving to fast! ~ ♪ ♫ ♪~ Got to make this life time last! ~♪ ♫ ♪ ♫♪~ So many creative ideas so little time!

I’m also working on a mixed media drawing on Stonehendge paper. I’m spiffing up a sketch I drew out the other night while kicking back in front of the TV. I’m also thinking of picking up art journaling again. But in a more messy style. Something to do for experimentation purposes… and to glue awesome scraps of pretty papers into. Of course!

To share more “pink” …here’s some of the flowers in my moms birthday bouquet she got from dad. It’s the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers I’ve ever seen. I’m sure that has nothing to do with the color though. /wink!

The photo doesn’t show but the edges of the rose are pure white. It’s truly the prettiest of roses.

Well… it’s Dr appointment day… so I’m off to dig up a clean shirt… one without paint stains on it perhaps?
